I loved this game. YOu could play seasons, (all of the home page of All Star Baseball 2002) I just got in to season and you can trade, I had the best team, but I found out my game was scratched (I scratched it) and so now I'm getting All Star Baseball 2003. I would get 2003 for the BEST baseball game for gamecube.
good for when friends come over but not season play

There are a lot of things about this game that are great: the players batting is very realistic, the commentary is clear and applies to the gameplay, and the players remind you of the actual people they represent. However, the gameplay is among the worst in baseball video game history. Running the bases correctly is an experiment in futility. Hits that should clearly be a double (off the wall, in the gap) inevitably end up with the runner being thrown out at second because the game stops the player at first and you have to madly press on the gamepad to get them to run to second, which they do inevitably, but too late. Fielding is inaccurate for the outfield. Players stand under where the ball is dropping and it bounces in front of them. Also, every time I play in the season mode, the game ends up letting the better teams from that year (especially the mets and yanks) score 12 runs. These are great teams, but not that great every game. Anyway, I was sorely disappointed with the season mode for all of the details mentioned. But the game is a lot of fun for a buddy to come over and play with. If you are looking to just mess around and play a video game once in a while it's not bad at all, especially for a reduced cost (I would say the game is worth about [money]), but stay away if you want to have a long term investment in a fantasy league.

This game has wonderful graphics right down to the mascot. However, glitches in the game make it hard to really enjoy the game. Such as players running through walls to catch foul balls. Batting and pitching are pretty simple. If you can get past the glitches this game is fun and entertaining. Trust me this game does not play on didactic platitudes.
Good, but extremly flawed.

... There are plenty of options includiong full seasons, trading, roster creating, creating player, exibitions, and all star games. There is defianly a lot to do.Now in the actual game it is quite fun, especially with more then one player but you will have to overlook serious flaws to do so. Numerous fielding and batting errors can seriously derteriate the games funness, but not too much. There is still a lot of fun to be had making your own team and taking them to the world series. So, anyfan of baseball, on a limited budget, should defiantly pick this up, despite it shortcommings.
good graphics, but....

I'll start off by saying that the graphics are really good for this game. But, there are major flaws. First, the hitting is darn near impossible. I'm in the middle of the season and I'm second to last in the ML in hitting. It's really hard to time the ball and predict where the ball is going to end up. But, the flip side is that the pitching is good. I'm leading the ML in that. It's not hard to get strikeouts and the strike zone for the most part is fair and you will get the pitch called if it even hits the corner of the plate. Autofielding is not bad expcept that when a ball is hit against the wall, the other outfielders end up fielding the ball instead of the outfielder where the ball was orginally hit and the runner will end up on third. I would have given it more stars, but the lack of hitting is really flawed and terrible in this game.
Don't Get This Game

Do not get this game! The graphics are really bad. The crowd is paper thin yet the picture on it looks 3-D. Not what I would expect from a Gamecube. The controles are confusing. I don't understand the concept of hitting the ball, you get the little triangle shape on the ball and it moves when you have no chance of hitting it. The main screen print is almost so tiny I can barely read it. The sound is not that bad. Its basically the best thing about the game. Overall, the game royally sucks so don't get it! If you do you'll regret it, I know I sure did. Its the worst (money) I've spent in my life.
Decent game, certainly better than Dreamcast

I think the game is pretty good. I agree that the pitching and hitting timing is solid. The major flaw which make the game very boring and not fun to play: the color commentary stinks. A ball hit just behind home plate is not "HIT DEEP TO CENTER!!!!" It gets very old very fast.
Sad Game, for a good series

The all star baseball series is great. Personally i think this is the worst one. This has horrible camra angles. The game overal i would give a D+. I am waiting for the 2003 game which i hope will be better.

First off, the more you play it the more this game [isn't good]. The Rookie mode is way too easy, and the Veteran mode makes outfielding (because of the camera angles) impossible. And every game from there on just gets tedious.
The graphics are fairly crisp, and some games are exciting and fun, but for the most part: THIS...GAME...[isn't good].
Looking very forward to their upgrade to 2003, which should be out soon.
Disappointments: AI, camera angles (which player has no control over), limited creativity, shallow commentary (which there is not much variety to), player models and faces (all the same), fielding control, no "player of the game"
Pleasant Surprises: animation, stadiums, batting control, Box Scores, Cooperstown teams, deep stats
