This game certainly is entertaining, but ultimately dissapointing as the graphics and gameplay seem below par to what Gamecube should be. Pass on this one and wait for EA SPORTS to release their version as EA clearly makes the most superior sports games.

There are a lot of things about this game that are great: the players batting is very realistic, the commentary is clear and applies to the gameplay, and the players remind you of the actual people they represent. However, the gameplay is among the worst in baseball video game history. Running the bases correctly is an experiment in futility. Hits that should clearly be a double (off the wall, in the gap) inevitably end up with the runner being thrown out at second because the game stops the player at first and you have to madly press on the gamepad to get them to run to second, which they do inevitably, but too late. Fielding is inaccurate for the outfield. Players stand under where the ball is dropping and it bounces in front of them. Also, every time I play in the season mode, the game ends up letting the better teams from that year (especially the mets and yanks) score 12 runs. These are great teams, but not that great every game. Anyway, I was sorely disappointed with the season mode for all of the details mentioned. But the game is a lot of fun for a buddy to come over and play with. If you are looking to just mess around and play a video game once in a while it's not bad at all, especially for a reduced cost (I would say the game is worth about [money]), but stay away if you want to have a long term investment in a fantasy league.

Best game while it lasted

I loved this game. YOu could play seasons, (all of the home page of All Star Baseball 2002) I just got in to season and you can trade, I had the best team, but I found out my game was scratched (I scratched it) and so now I'm getting All Star Baseball 2003. I would get 2003 for the BEST baseball game for gamecube.

I bought this game with high expectaions! It totally let me down. I didn't care for the way the batters swung. Too many other things to type.

I recently purchased all star baseball 2002 with my nintendo gamecube and it is absolutely amazing. The graphics and gameplay are outstading and it really is neat how the game is commentated. The homerun derby, exhibition, season, allstar game, and batting practice modes are unbelievable.

The level of detail and real baseball effect in this game is amazing! The creators of this game have to be serious fans. Every skill required in the game has been painstakingly simulated here. Makes you feel like you're actually on the field.

Great graphics but slow gameplay

Get this game if you are a baseball fan. This game has the exact stats, batting stance of the players. It has all the stats for 2001 and has the exact twitching of the bats even for the Legends. But if you do not like slow gameplay this game is not for you.

Baseball Lovers' Game

I was anticipating this game for quite sometime. Being a huge Mariners fan, I finally got to see Bret Boone and Ichiro batting on my screen. Baseball Fans everywhere will get a kick out of the accurate stances and the "Oldie" players coming back to slug it out. But many people think baseball isn't a fast paced game. And they are right. No matter how much I love the sport, there is no real tension or anxiety involved when you are just playing Nintendo. It is one of the best baseball games but baseball games are not that exciting to begin with.

This game is good, but it takes up to many blocks on the memory card.
