Not Bad

4 Rating: 4, Useful: 2 / 5

THE ONE MOST HATED THING FOR ME IS TRIBUTING I HATE TRIBUTING but that is just about the only bad thing besides the fact that you can only win when you get lucky, like when I summoned 2 eygyptian god cards at once on a glitch and still barely won(btw I have only senn one glitch I would deafinatly buy this game

first impressions of the game itself

The opening sequence sets up the game (and might even hint at something in the upcoming "Yu-Gi-Oh: The Movie" feature (due in theaters Aug. 13th.) It seems (unless my eyes deceived me) Maximillion Pegasus may be responsible for awakening the 'Reshef' (dark being) of the game's name.

As for gameplay, it feels and looks a lot like Sacred Cards, though I think the character models are improved somewhat. The cursor, which is used to select cards (to play, examine, etc.) has an annoying habit of whirling around the playing field during the duel though, and it can become a bit bothersome. The other feature I will complain about was a carry-over from Sacred Cards (and originally found in Forbidden Memories on the PS One): "alignment matches." That simply means that light-type monsters seem to always beat fiends, water beats fire, etc. The first time you get Beast of Talwar on the field (7 stars in game, 6 stars in real card game) and it attacks a Magician of Faith (resulting in Beast getting blown up), you'll fully understand what I mean. It's something that can be worked around, though you will want to avoid rushing into duels with named characters (like Rebecca and Duke Devlin) because the deck you start out with is weak except for the tribute monsters. Deck capacity can be worked around too, although it is somewhat time consuming and annoying to do so, like with Sacred Cards. However, if you're more into the "hardcore rules" (e.g., using a deck-destruction style deck and activating flip effects/sacrificing that monster), you'll probably get more out of World Championship Tournament 2004. In the end though, with some effort and patience, it's a rewarding experience for any Yu-Gi-Oh fan; and, it may well perk your interest in the upcoming movie (which also shows Pegasus in the trailer at least.)

i think this game would be awesome. the graphics may be a little off but stilll looks kewl. most yugioh games is just dueling but in t his game u can walk around and duel instead of dueling one com. to another. u get to walk around and talk to people. all i have to say is this game really looks awesome. for those who think this game is crappy i dont know y but there might be some reasons. like i heard this guy saying that they changed the rule about dueling in this game but i dont know maybe he was mistaken or he just dont know how to play. this game should rock!!!!!!!

This game is actually really good. The people who said the game is bad just saw the beginning, and jumped to conclusions. I am a true gamer. I look at all reviews in mags and websites. The cards here too are worth it, except Sages Stone.

Better than Sacred Cards

The person below me says the games sucks now is that true? Well consider these facts this game is a RPG/Card Game. Therefore if you don't like walking around and talking to others don't buy it. But I myself like it. It contains the story after Battle-City and a brand new chapter.

The Promo cards are Dark Magician Knight, Knight's Title, Sage's Stone which are excellent combos to the Dark Magician deck. If you don't want these you can sell them for a nice price. Overall get the game if you like Duel Monsters, promo's make it more worth it.

best yugioh game ever!!!!!!!!!

First of all let me tell you: I don't actually own this game, but my cousin does and it's really awesome, definetly better than the sacred cards. The graphics are better than the sacred cards too. The promo cards are great, since I've got a Dark magician deck. This is definetly #1 on my christmas list

A review From my point of view

Yu-Gi-oh Reshef of destruction is good but the main problem is its is sooooooooooooooo HARD you have RUBISH cards with 900 atk and LESS and the oponents have cards with 1500 atk and up! the start of the game is pretty easy though but the rest is IMPOSSIBLE i have had the game for a YEAR and i am not even HALF WAY though the game!

Good Game, But Bad Rules

3 Rating: 3, Useful: 1 / 3

Overall its a good game, however there are some major flaws with the rules. There is now a hierarchy within the monster types (i.e. Water will always take out fire monsters etc). Although I understand these rules, I don't like them. I summoned a 2400 atk monster (including having to sacrifice 2 monsters as a tribute), only to have a 300 atk monster take it out. Good Idea but not that good. Maybe they should have given superior monster types only a 500 point bonus rather then it will always destroy it.

Plus its a very hard game to get a better deck. You are playing NPC's a plenty and only getting lots of rather pathetic cards.

All in all there is longievity but at what cost to the gamers sanity?
