i got this game for 10 bucks and man is it a great game! its the same wolfenstein on the pc just ported onto the GBA. and its cheaper. its fun and addictive. It does suffer from frame rate issues but that is the only flaw in the game. if you like WW2 games or shooters you should buy this.
Never saw this one coming

GBA having the original first person shooter? WOW! But why the 'M' rating? Even in 1990 when it was made for dos it shouldn't have been 'M' even though is was the most violent game of the time. The is truely the best game for GBA so far.
"Get Psyched!"... for Pac-Man Ghosts?

This game is incredible! The intensity, the graphics, the violence, the carnage, the Third Reich insignias! It's all here! You even get to kill der Fuehrer, himself; and that's just in the third episode; there are three more to follow! I just finished all six episodes and I feel I really accomplished something! OK, I was playing on "Daddy Can I Play Now" mode, but I'm a `80s lady who can't get through Atari E.T. past the first level (there is a surprise for us `80s gamers--read on). Even on the easy mode, I found this game to be challenging, especially in some of the later episodes.
In this game, you are BJ who looks like the blond superman Germany was revering in the 1930s, but you're on the Ally's side, of course. There are six missions and to complete each, you need to make your way through 9 floors (10 if you find the secret level) by finding your way through various rooms and mazes until you find the elevator shaft (you'll need to find one or two keys to get you through locked doors on your way to the next floor). Secret levels are found by stumbling upon a second elevator shaft on certain levels.
You start out with a pistol and eight bullets but; don't worry, you will find ammo and a weapons upgrade during your travels as well as food and first aid to beef up your health. You'll need everything you can get! They'll be times you'd rather find a few bowls of dog food instead of a room full of treasure. Your health is threatened by attack German shepherds, brown shirts (I thought the SA was gotten rid of during the Knight of the Long Knives after Hitler came to power), white-clad officers who shoot more quickly and with greater precision, and blue SS guards who have machine guns. Luckily, you're given warning whether it be a siren, or a call of "Leon!" (I'm not sure what this means, if it was The Andy Griffith Show, it would mean Leon would start shooting peanut butter and jelly sandwiches at you). Then there is an aggravated "Ah!" by the Stormtrooper as if he's saying "I can't believe someone has the audacity to think he can get past me!"
On the ninth floor, you will face a boss battle which will take up all the ammo and health you have. Besides der Fuehrer (and some very difficult Hitler ghosts that shoot red cannon balls at you) you will face such foes as Hans Grosse and, later, sister Greta who have two machine guns (no fair!), Dr. Schabbs who has created an army of zombies (you will have to face these zombies, too. They have a machine gun implanted in their chests and they shoot incessantly by swinging their arms), Otto Giftmacher who is the chemical war mastermind and, in the final showdown, General Fettgesicht. These are some intimidating dudes (Schabbs actually throws syringes at you!). When you kill them, you get to see it again in slow motion.
The mazes can be very challenging at times. I've felt like pulling my hair out more than once. Sometimes it is a relief to be shot at so, at least you know you're in a new place. I know there are maps available, but I didn't use any and I do not know how I got out of some of them, but I survived! The different textures on the walls and barrels, skeletons, pots, plants, tables, chairs, dead soldiers, and wall decorations can help you navigate through the rooms, but some of the mazes have very few distinguishing characteristics and sometimes you find yourself going in circles (the most aggravating part of the game). I wish there was a way to save at any point in the game. You can only save after completing a floor. I've spent almost an hour on some of these floors although the "pars" are ridiculously low. After spending so much time on a floor, you feel obligated to complete the floor no matter how long it takes so you can save it.
There are also lots of hidden rooms. What I do is move across a wall at a slight angle so I move faster while holding down the `B' button. Sometimes you can guess where secret passages are, but nothing is more satisfying than stumbling upon one out of the blue. I wish you could find things in barrels and pots as they seem rather useless except for distinguishing a room. Another thing I found out (by accident) was, if your health is under 10% and you walk over a pool of blood (without a body), you'll hear a slurping sound and your health will go up a few points (no kidding!). Doesn't that make you want to buy this game right now?!
Now for the real cool discovery (are you ready for this?): Find the secret level to episode 3 (it's on the seventh floor; it's a secret door inside another secret room found at the end of a tunnel. It's on the left side at the end of the tunnel--the tunnel just widens a little at the end, it may be difficult to notice). The secret elevator takes you to floor ten where you will find Pac-Man ghosts! No kidding! Perfect likeness and even the right colors! Inky, Blinky, Pinky, and Clyde (a.k.a. Bashful, Shadow, Speedy, and Pokey)! They're all there chasing you down and ready to chomp! I couldn't believe it! I don't know what they have to do with Wolfenstein 3D, but as a lady of the `80s, they were an awesome surprise!
A few hints, if you want them (if not, do not read on): When facing a boss, shoot at him as far away as possible. His aim is not very good at long distances whereas yours is good at any distance. Secret floors can be found on the following floors: EP1:F1 (last room), EP2:F1 (in a secret room with ammo and first aid), EP3:F7, EP4:F3 (through a winding passage to the right of the main elevator), EP5:F5 (in a secret door after another secret door behind the locked door that takes the silver key. It's at the end of a winding passage on the left wall), EP6: I didn't do this secret level. I think it's found on floor 2, but I'm not sure.
Violent, Cheesy and VERY Addicting. Instant Classic!

Wolfenstein 3D is a very fun, violent and cheesy game. The levels are well done, and I love the extensive levels of difficulty. The only thing wrong is that you should have to beat one episode to go on to the next one(you start on Episode 3 and skip to Episode 6). I would strongly recommend this game to a pure classic lover. I love the retros :-)
Excellent

I use to play this game for hours on computer and I was happy to get it once I got a Nintendo DS. Its a great game and I didnt have a problem with the graphics. Very fun, violent game. Doesnt really seem to be dated to me for some reason, then again I dont play video games much.

The 1st(and one of the best)first-person shooters on GBA It is good, but not terrific. For those of you who think that graphics make the game, you will be very disapponted in Wolfenstein 3d. Flat bitmap characters and dated sound effects give this game a
Great classic!

I just bought this for the GBA, and for some reason, I prefer this over the chopped up version on my SNES. Granted, it is old, but who cares? This game is still addicting. The only flaw is the lack of music, but I can live without that. Overall, though, I highly recommend it.

Over all the game runs really well on the GBA platform, but I definitely missed the fact that this port does not include the soundtrack from the original game. At times when there are no enemies present, the game gets eerily silent, and the music from the original Wolfenstein 3d was definitely one of its high points in its time. Other than the fact that the GBA was simply not meant to play first person shooters control wise, this is a fun game especially for fans of the original.
Could've been great...

This game really disappointed me. I have it on PC. (Which is great! This one has considerable flaws)...
Good news is the digital vocal effects are still entact. So are the full 60+ levels.
Now for the bad... the basic sounds (shoot, retrieve ammo, treasure, etc) are the PC speaker FX. Perhaps the worst thing of all, however, is NO MUSIC! The tunes on this PC game rock, and I looked forward to the GBA translations. The levels seem to go on and on without it.
GOTTA LOVE THE CLASSICS!

I love these old classic games. It is just as much fun now as it was then.
