This game ruled. It does not have very good graphics but it is a hit.It is a blast. It is my favorite game for playstation. It was A game with realalistic actions. You could play with a injured player and he could still score. So buy this game and you will love it.

I am a huge soccer fan as well as an intently involved athlete in the game.FIFA is for Real.If you have ever seen a Pro Soccer match on TV this is almost exactly like one except you control it.I have become basically a master of this game crushing all oppenants as well as the computer on some of the hardest settings.I recently sold my PS1 in order to gain money for the purchase of a PS2,I sold quite a few PS1 games but this is one that I couldn't let go of.Really an excellent game.

Viva Henry.

This is an excellent sports game, with great graphics even in Classic Playstation format. Computer opponents, even at their highest level, often end up in free-for-all, less than realistic scoring barrages- but its still fun.

Head-head play is fantastic.

Best Soccer Game for PSX

FIFA 2001 is the best soccer game for the PSX. It has all of the national teams you could want (except Andorra)! It has most of the decent leagues in Europe. It's season game mode is great, because you get the Champions league, UEFA Cup, league, and league cups all in one mode. You can do it all seperately too! There are some drawbacks however. First of all, the game play can be slow, but if you put it on fastest it picks up. Some players aren't as good in the game as they are in real life, but you can always change it. That is the great part of this game you can customise almost anything, from jersey colors to names, to passing skill. The annoucers are awesome, and pretty funny too. The music is the best ever, something most soccer games lack, and because EA Sports rocks they got the licensing to have all the team and player names which makes it so much better than any ISS title. The one major problem is that once you get the hang of it scoring becomes easy (defending never does), and then you always win. Over-all however, FIFA 2001 Rocks, for true soccer fans it is the only game to buy.

FORZA JUVE!!!!

FIFA 2001-A Good Game

OK Let me get started. First of all it don't have all the hair styles that the version for PS2 and PC have, also you can't set the stadium you want to play in like PS2 and PC, but it has more weather conditions than the PS2 and PC have (which I like) and you can play in the "Dusk" time of day, which you can't in PS2 and PC (I like that too). And you can't set the weather and time of day at "Random" which PS2 and PC can (that don't matter to me much). So that's my review, I think it's a "4 Star" game. It's OK. Thanks for hearing me out. C ya!

A step back: few functions improved, some are worse

I jumped from FIFA 1998 to 2001 - and was suprised about how little had been improved during those three pivotal years.

Although I like some of the customizable functions - and the added challenge of "multi-year" play with relegation and promotion - some of the best features that made 1998 FIFA more realistic have been taken away.

Here's the first REAL ANNOYING thing: the realistic songs and cheers have been replaced by slightly reverbed crowd cheers from their NBA game series....you can even distinctly hear specific basketball references and cheers from the crowd - very, very disappointing. If they would have just kept the same sounds from FIFA 1998 that would be better.

Secondly, you play in a generic stadium, versus the team specific stadiums. Again, why take away features that were already there?

Game play is more difficult...which is a good thing: no more 22-1 drubbings. Although i think certain teams were given an unrealistic amount of money for their transfers, whilst others were given a whole lot less....such as Celtic and Rangers, two of the most profitable teams in Europe, have very little money to spend on transfers versus less profitable teams in the EPL.

All in all, a bit of a disappointment.

One Great Soccer Game

I read all the reviews before I purchased this game. I have to admit that I purchased it with a bit of trepidation. Upon the first game I was not disappointed at all. The graphics are great, as great as they can be on a PS1, club teams international teams, all the great tournaments. Player animations are good, you cannot run up the score the way you could in earlier versions. Computer AI is a bit shallow though and refereeing is non-existent but overall this is a great title and a must have for any soccer fan with a PS1. Hats off to EA for getting rid of the ridiculous commentary from FIFA 200 and bringing back John Motson!

FIFA leaves a lot to be desired

I have been a long time FIFA fan, dating way back to the original in '94 for Sega Genesis. I was very excited with this year's model....until I brought it home. While the huge pool of teams to choose from quite nice, the overall gameplay leaves a lot to be desired. I love soccer and enjoy the beauty of the game, unfortunately EA was unable to put that beauty into its game. A number of things are frustarting: (1) The goalkeepers leave a lot to be desired. While improved over past versions, they still do no justice to their human counterparts. (2) They do not charge out on crosses, do not charge on breakaways until the attacker is at the penalty stripe. (3) When on offense, your teammates just stand around, they don't make runs to try and get open to attack the net, your midfielders and defenders don't push up on the attack, so the only people that score are your forwards. (4) When playing the computer, when they are on offense, they always have people wide open, your defenders are no where to be found. All these things are rarely found on the real pitch on any level professional or otherwise. As a true fan of the glorious game of football, I'm left feeling frustrated, angry, and disappointed in what could've been. I wouldn't suggest buying this, if I could get my money back I would in a second.

OK, where to start...WHAT A GAME this is one of the best games I have ever played. This definately should be a greatest hits and I dont exagerate but this should eventually should become a classic. There are so many things you can do:

-Make monster trades -Customize your teams and players -Use tons of different teams -Play internationally or in certain countries inner clubs This is such a great game I cant stress enough that you should purchase it, its 40 bucks, but its worth it

Get it if you are a Soccer fan.

With PS2, one would expect this caliber of graphics. The announcer commentaries were very well done, and the game has the look and feel of a real soccer game.

I would hate compare this to Madden 2001 Football, but not being a Soccer fan, I found the gameplay to be a bit boring. Call it more realistic if you will, but a game that ends with 2-1 final score doesn't quite give me the excitement of winning 37-35 in Madden.

I played with few die-hard Soccer fans and even they agree that while they thought the graphics was awsome, the gameplay could use a shot of adrenaline.

I would only get this if you are used to FIFA series and enjoy Soccer. Having all the sports title currently offered for PS2, I found FIFA to get around 10 percent playing time.
