This game is definetley a must have for fans of EA Sports or sports video games for that matter. Everyone that has played an addition of Fifa in the past will immediately notice the similarities to earlier additions of the game, but this is still a must buy. They have added a number of new international teams which adds to the excitment in cup play. The game play is also a good deal smoother and they have accomplished this without sacrificing anything in terms of the graphics. The game is also a bit more difficult which is a plus since after a few hours of play one could easily master the 2000 edition. I have heard complaints about the size of the players, but I find that they need to be that small in order for the game to be played well. If you prefer bigger players try a differnet camera angle. In the end the game is similar to earlier versions, but still has enough new quirks to be worth the money.

I read some of the reviews and they were SO insulting Fifa 2001! I think it is THE BEST soccer game any system has ever created and it definatly deserves 5 stars. I got so absorbed in the game when I rented it, and went straight to the store and bought it! The commentators voice is so much realer then Fifa '99 and the music is better. You can create your very own players and change their facial expressions, pysical attributes, and even see the guys close up!! (it looks SO real when you actually see their faces). The players reations to the game, facial expressions, and pysical attributes are AMAZING! When the US international team bicycle kicked the ball into the goal for the winning World Cup goal, I leapt 20 feet in the air and gave a whoop of happiness. In this out of the world game, you can pick from almost any international team, PLUS the MLS players (I got real excited then; I met the New England Revolution players at the airport). I hope this review helped you realize this really is an awesome game...there are no adjectives to describe how good it really is.

I own FIFA 99',2000' and presently I own FIFA 2001. FIFA 2001 is by far the greatest soccer game I've played. In FIFA 99' and 2000' you could score tons of goals in any mode of play dut with FIFA 2001 this is the next best thing to actually playing a real soccer game. The graphics are outstanding and the feel of the game are excelent. There's much more Leagues that you can choose to play in. All the latest trades and transfers are up to date. As a hardcore soccer fan I have to demand more in the next FIFA soccer game. Future games should have the South American Leagues availible along with their Knock-out Cups, etc. Teams should be able to earn money as they finish Leagues and Cup Tournaments that they have entered. The amount of money given to each team should be based on how well they finished the League or Tournaments, etc. FIFA concentrates only on European teams and teir Leagues, more attention need to be given to other Leagues and Tournaments around the world to make a complete soccer game. Final verdict, FIFA 2001 rules until......

Invincible Goalkeepers?

The graphics didn't seem that much better than other Fifa games, and sometimes the players themselves don't know where the ball is. The goalkeepers are the greatest, all of them. To a certain point it gets annoying, they save every shot! Rent this game before you go out and buy it, and see if you like or not.
Get it if you are a Soccer fan.

With PS2, one would expect this caliber of graphics. The announcer commentaries were very well done, and the game has the look and feel of a real soccer game.
I would hate compare this to Madden 2001 Football, but not being a Soccer fan, I found the gameplay to be a bit boring. Call it more realistic if you will, but a game that ends with 2-1 final score doesn't quite give me the excitement of winning 37-35 in Madden.
I played with few die-hard Soccer fans and even they agree that while they thought the graphics was awsome, the gameplay could use a shot of adrenaline.
I would only get this if you are used to FIFA series and enjoy Soccer. Having all the sports title currently offered for PS2, I found FIFA to get around 10 percent playing time.
FIFA-what an awesome game

OK, where to start...WHAT A GAME this is one of the best games I have ever played. This definately should be a greatest hits and I dont exagerate but this should eventually should become a classic. There are so many things you can do:
-Make monster trades -Customize your teams and players -Use tons of different teams -Play internationally or in certain countries inner clubs This is such a great game I cant stress enough that you should purchase it, its 40 bucks, but its worth it
Misses the Goal- by a longshot

this edition of FIFA just does not make the cut. i read the poor reviews, didn't believe them, and got a copy of FIFA yesterday. i played 1-and-a-half games and quit. the game is awful. what happened? i have been a EA-Sports soccer fan since World Cup '98 (classic game)....FIFA 99 was great...FIFA 2000 was pretty good, even with the horrible "Americanized commentary" added....but FIFA 2001? forget about it. the animation is choppy...the players don't move in a fluid motion...the pitch looks like crab grass...i'm tellin ya, i was so disappointed....i will say it was nice to hear John Motson back in the booth!! just to prove how great the other games were, i popped in FIFA '99 and World Cup '98 to play a couple matches...amazing difference. i always thought video games were supposed to get better with every addition to the catalog....FIFA 2001 is proof that just isn't the case. sorry EA-Sports, you really blew it with FIFA 2001....wait a minute...why am i apoligizing??? EA-Sports should apoligize to every FIFA fan....

I am a huge soccer fan as well as an intently involved athlete in the game.FIFA is for Real.If you have ever seen a Pro Soccer match on TV this is almost exactly like one except you control it.I have become basically a master of this game crushing all oppenants as well as the computer on some of the hardest settings.I recently sold my PS1 in order to gain money for the purchase of a PS2,I sold quite a few PS1 games but this is one that I couldn't let go of.Really an excellent game.
Best Soccer Game for PSX

FIFA 2001 is the best soccer game for the PSX. It has all of the national teams you could want (except Andorra)! It has most of the decent leagues in Europe. It's season game mode is great, because you get the Champions league, UEFA Cup, league, and league cups all in one mode. You can do it all seperately too! There are some drawbacks however. First of all, the game play can be slow, but if you put it on fastest it picks up. Some players aren't as good in the game as they are in real life, but you can always change it. That is the great part of this game you can customise almost anything, from jersey colors to names, to passing skill. The annoucers are awesome, and pretty funny too. The music is the best ever, something most soccer games lack, and because EA Sports rocks they got the licensing to have all the team and player names which makes it so much better than any ISS title. The one major problem is that once you get the hang of it scoring becomes easy (defending never does), and then you always win. Over-all however, FIFA 2001 Rocks, for true soccer fans it is the only game to buy.
FORZA JUVE!!!!
