Excellent game

This is a fantastic game. Great graphics, perfect physics, nice music, lots to do, and story mode is a challenge but you can always free skate and just enjoy the game - or play arcade mode for a quick sk8 fix. As your little in-game character would say, "Rockin'!"

if you're a veteran gamer looking for a fun game on the go..

Dont buy this game!!!

I have to admit...when i first started it up, i was thinking: wow, pretty cool. Pretty basic graphics, but alright. And then i was like: hey, the controls are pretty intuitive. Theyre pretty much like the console versions. That's a bonus. And then: oh cool, i can make a custom skater and a custom board with wording on it and stuff.

Then the novetly wore off.
1) The music is beyond horrible and annoying. Honestly, im never one to really care about video game music, but this is really really bad. You'll play the game with the music off more often that with it on, trust me. It is unbearable. Even the sound effects are really rough and annoying.
2) The gameplay is just plain bad. All you ever do are the same goals over and over and over again. And the worst part is trying to unlock different parts of each level. And the money system is boring...all you can buy are pads and drinks. I will admit, the first level was cool...i enjoyed it very much. But when you start moving on the other levels you start to see a pattern -- the levels are all the same, but actually get worse somehow.
3) the graphics are really really sub-par compared to other GBA games...you can barely see the difference between one skater and another. And the skate parks are just really plain, bland, nothing cool.

If you can get this game for $5, go ahead. It'll give you about that much enjoyable gameplay. Otherwise, dont even think about it. I thought it would be cool, considering i've loved all of the console tony hawks. I knew it wasnt going to be the same at all, but i was still expecting it to be fun. It isnt fun after the first level. Just the same old levels and goals recycled over and over.

Do yourself a favor and get Advance Wars 2 or Yoshi's Island or Metroid: Zero Mission.

An excellent entry into the tony hawk world

This is such a perfect game for the GBA (or gameboy micro) because many of us who play these handhelds play them in short spurts, when we have 5 or 10 minutes of downtime here and there, we need a game that can be fun that gives instant gratification.

Tony Hawk Underground is that game. You can pick it up, start the arcade or free skate mode and instantly start having fun, even if you only can play for a few minutes. Unlike say an RPG that you need to put in atleast a half hour to make any significant progress.

When I first turned on this game, I was very impressed with the framerate. Its very smooth. The sound is quite good too, it really makes the game come alive. And though the gameboy only has a small amount of buttons, theres a very large amount of possible tricks to learn.

What it boils down to is that this game can be played for 5 minutes or 5 hours, and it's just as deep and dynamic as its console counterparts. This is a definite must buy for anyone who enjoys tony hawk games.

sweet game

Well , this game has many good features . It has 17 famous skaters . It has 10 levels : New Jersey , Mall , Warehouse , Battery Park , Bronx , Hangar , Santa Monica , Hollywood , San Diego , Slam City Jam . It has tons of moves . You can buy Helmets , Knee Pads , Drinks and Snack Bars at SkateShop . You will earn cash helping people . Or playing H.O.R.S.E. . Heres the bad things about this game : you will need to complete goals to unlock certain areas in the level , the description of goals you need to complete is worst ! You will spend weeks trying to understand what they meant . But dont quit ! You will get the goals after trying like 100 times . So after all i give this game 2 thumbs up as the best skate game for GBA . Go get it !

It Rocks

Tony Hawk's Underground has easy controls and is fun to play. It has a lot of variety in tricks and levels. The carrer mode is totally awsome. My only complaint is that some of the goals that you need to pass are hard to pass. The instructions on some are very vauge. Overall, the game is great and a ton of fun.

Its overall pretty fun

yes i got this game for Christmas and i must say it is pretty good but i didn''t like it how they made it to where u some of the parts in New Jersey are off limits until u complete goals thats really takes ALOT of time and it got kinda borring and some of the goals i had to do i couldn't understand and took weeks the music is great and the game is pretty good too but i will say anyone who dosent like being stuck doing the same stuff over and over again u probably wont like this but as u go on to get bigger and better things it starts to get more fun even though it takes u forever to get out of neww Jersey and on to the mall or a Dfferent level i would suggest going out and getting this game it is still very entertaining and it keeps u guessing whats going to happen next

Tony Hawk and Activision brings the gaming world another skateboarding title, and Underground is better than ever. It makes the jump to the small screen just fine, with detailed graphics, smooth action, big levels, and lots of stuff to skate. The story element is here, but you can also just play arcade-style and rack up big scores. The only complaint I have is how some of the areas are "off limits" to your character at first, and you have to complete goals to "open" up an area on your current level. This is annoying. You might fall while busting a trick and you end up in an "off limits" area, then the screen starts blinking red and telling you that you cant skate there. Kinda breaks the fluidness of the game.

This game is ok. Some tricks are to easy and some are impossible. I plated it in my cousins house. I refused to by it. It is stupid. I will never play it again, not even at my cousins.

Tony Hawk's Underground best yet

i love this game. the grapics are amazing for a GBA game. also the story mode is amazing. you are a 14 year old skate punk from New jersey who wants to make it big and meet tony hawk. Along the way you learn new tricks and make it to the pros.
get THUG.
