i love this game. Amazing graphics, cool sounds, and alot of fun. this game is almost completly flawless. the only problem is that when you get a weapon..its kinda hard to tell what it is. i would read the instruction booklet thoroughly before doing the game. i dont know what the internet thing is like because i live an a remote area and we dont have any connections up here. im sure if you lived in a city it would work though. i love the tracks in this game...unlike any racing game ever!! thumbs up!

As a fan of the WipEout series, I can whole-heartedly recommend this game. It has an unbelieveable amount of unlockable tracks, vehicles, menu skins, tournaments...I could go on. And not only are the unlockables acheived in the traditional "beat x and unlock y," but you can also connect to a WiFi network (or through a $10 PSP USB cable) and download even more features.
The only problem you'll have is if you download eveything WipEoutPure has to offer, your tiny 32 MB MemoryStickDuo will not have the space. Make sure you order a larger MS with the game to unlock everything. There's tons of it.

I'm not a big videogame player, and usually get bored of games quickly, but I've had this game now for 9 months, and even though I have 4 other games for my PSP, this is the one I still love--it never gets boring, and even though in general I am really bad at all videogames, I have slowly improved, though I'm still not through half the levels and need to find some cheats. The gameplay is great, though they could have a few more weapons (maybe there are at higher levels). I managed to download one new track and ship thru the wireless connection but haven't tried again now for a while. Anyway, it's a great game overall.

After pinching myself to find that I wasn't dreaming looking at the graphics, I saw the fun of this game. I am not a big fan of the Wipeout series although I had played it on PS1. I got this as my first PSP game because of the talk I've been hearing about it. Anyway, this game is so much fun and addicting that you will find yourself playing over and over again. There are 8 vehicles and are all fast. There are 16 distinct and very different tracks. The vehicles go so fast the it is nearly impossible to control them. And just as you get the hang of the controls, you go on to the next of 5 speed classes where you go about 100kph fatser than the previous speed class. The grahics in my mind are equal to PS2 and if not better. Also be careful not to get a Wipeout. Every time you crash or get shot by an opponent's wepon, health is deducted from your health meter. If you run out of health, you wipeout which results in a last place finish, unless someone wipes out before you in the race. Note, that some vehicles have higher shields or take more hits to wipe out than others. This is the best PSP game out now.

With a game like this, it's easy to see how much expectation there was for the PSP. Killer graphics (even by today's standards), great sound (if you like the techno beats from the PS version), great, responsive gameplay and strategy all wrapped up in a tiny silver disc! It even has online features and playing with friends is a blast! That most PSP games are pathetic ports of PS1 games and crappy movie adaptations is disappointing in the face of games like this. It's almost like Sony said, "OK guys, HERE'S how you make a PSP game," and then the developers promptly ignored them!!!
First off, the graphics are gorgeous. Futuristic and smooth. The music is appropriate and very techno. The controls are crisp and mastering the airbrake system on each racer is the key to victory...since hamfisted handling WILL result in eating wall and losing races. There is a certain strategy to hitting boost points and picking up weapons for use against others or for a quick energy boost. You can't just mash the button and ride a rail all the way to the finish line; you have to be involved and jink/dodge/boost/draft/ram your way in!
I got this game used for $9.99 and it's more fun than the new crop of PSP games coming out. I highly recommend it; even if you get frustrated racing against others, you can do time trials or free racing as a quick diversion and play against yourself.
Can't go wrong here. AWESOME game. WHERE'S WIPEOUT 2?
A truly impressive game.....at first

WipEout Pure has proven to be one of the most visually stunning games I have ever seen on a portable handheld. The gameplay is mad-fun, sound and special effects are unparalled, and the music is pretty neat too.
However, this game does have its serious flaws that cripple the fun-factor only a short time after playing this game for the first time; when playing against the AI in tournament mode, its a real fun challege- a game wouldnt really be fun at all if there was no challenge involved, but if the difficulty level is ludicrously high, winning and passing a race would become nearly impossible. This is highly evident as you ascend through the tournament, and namely, one or two race-maps in "Ascension" mode, while playing it in "Flash" difficulty. This is especially true for people who are new to the WipEout Pure series, like myself. I honestly hate this game only 5 days after buying it, and now regret spending those lousy 40 bucks on a game that could have been so great. That's what makes me have a serious grudge against some game developers- they can never learn from their previous mistakes, and will always recreate games with very few innovative features, which suffer from some sort of fatal gameplay-imbalancement. Why is this still happening to a game whose series has been around for nearly a decade now?
In addition, there are some minor framerate issues- but I'm not surprised about that due to the amazing graphics quality in this game. Music length and selection is quite poor, but what they already have (electronic-dance) is great, and fits very nicely with the gameplay.
I highly recommend this game for everyone - whether or not you're a beginner - but if you want to go ahead and buy it, don't be surprised if you get extremely frustrated with some racing events.
Hope this review helps.

this game is really fun. it has uber good graphics, and its soundtrack is really weird but cool. at first it was sorta hard, but then you understand a lot better. .this is my first wipeout game, as i have a cube, and not a ps2. another reason i like it is because of the dns hack that lets you acsess the 'net using the download section. it is sorta hard, but ifa 11 year old(me) can do it than it is not uber hard. my fav car is auricom, i think, by the way.
this game rocks!!!!

This is the best psp game by far. Some other ones sort of compete like lumenis (no idea how to spell) but this one is just sooo cool. There is a HUGE array of maps hover car thingys and tournament modes. I loved every second of this even though im only on the flash tournament. I say get this as your first game because its a great pickup game and all the other ones are like poop compared to this
Boring but not bad visually

Very suprised at the graphics but the racing it self is really boring, turn left or right, pretty much all there is too it. Should have spent a little more time making it more interesting.
