This game is so different from many of the adventures that are out there right now. It is no wonder that it's been such a huge hit all over Europe, and if the word gets out here in the US, I think people will really enjoy it, too, since the characters are excellent, the screen art is absolutely amazing and different and the story is entertaining and fun.

The game starts out in New York but turns into a sort of road trip across America, passing through ghost towns, deserts, chicago and a whole assortment of other places. Like I said before, the artwork in this game is so great (the portrayals of the Indian lands and ruins are awesome) and is much different from the other games I've seen lately. You can spend lots of time just looking at the amusing details in the background, but that is only a small part of it all...

The game in general and puzzles are neither too difficult nor too easy, the secondary characters (especially Rutger the yawaskel-growing dude and Sushi the teenage computer brain girl who helps you out of the mess you're in) are all hilarious...and the situations are just so different from other games I've played (enlisting the help of a trio of drag queen commandos!, meeting with Hopi Indian spirits)...

I definitely recommend playing this adventure if you feel like getting addicted to a game for a while and want something different but highly entertaining.

Really enjoyable game with great graphics

The graphics on this game are really wonderful--very pleasing to the eye with lots of fun detail, too. The game is fantastic! Puzzles are fun, the characters are interesting, and the plot keeps you interested.

I was looking for a new game that reminded me a bit of the games I've enjoyed, like Leisure Suit Larry. This game plays like LSL except it's rated PG instead of X! I've also enjoyed the Nancy Drew games, but "Runaway: A Road Adventure" is much more what I've been looking for in a game.

This is a great game! I highly recommend giving it a try!

Is this really for "everyone" ?

I do not own this game. I did however look at the pictures provided with the description, the ones with the naked women sunbathing etc. I most certainly would not want MY 6 year old playing this game. I don't feel the content would be appropriate for that age group at all. Call this mom a prude.....that's ok, but this is what is wrong with our children today !!!

Some flaws, but interesting.

I received this game for my birthday. I've got a beast of a computer at home, but I noticed that my maximum installation still skipped on the animation transitions (between the cutscenes). Isn't the point of installing it 100% to get smooth animation? However, despite 3 installation options, the "maximum" installed game still ran off of the CDs, which slowed down the framerate and transition between scenes, which is why the game would oddly pause between transitions. Considering that this game takes up so much space, I thought this choice was odd.

The characters were done rather well, in an interesting way: 3-D modeling to get a 2-D cellshaded effect. Sometimes it works, sometimes you wish they'd sticked to old-fashioned 2D modeling instead, since the look of the game is mostly 2D.

The thing I wish most about the game is that they would use the visual medium more for being visual, rather than just talking about something happening or something that already happened - Show it! Specifically, I'm talking about the prologue, some peoples' past, and most of the text/explanations that happen between the chapters. Also, some of the cut scenes were way too long - there was one near the end of the game -- my phone rang, and a couple of other things happened, and the cutscene was like - an hour long, if you include all conversations and cutscenes, with no way to pause it.

One last thing: I was really disappointed with the ending.

Great game but rating is incorrect

I agree with the other posters that this is a great game. However I would like to point out to the upset mother that this game is actually rated teen. I have contacted Amazon about this problem and I think it will be corrected soon.

Excellent adventure game!

I am a huge fan of the Monkey Island series, mostly for the sytle of gameplay, but also for the humor and interesting "twists". Runaway has all of the aspects that I love of that series but with a sytle completely of its own. Runaway takes you on a roller coaster of adventure and suspense, but does it in a supremely crazy and comedic way.

I completely agree with the other reviewers that Runaway should have a "Mature" rating. A few people are killed right in front of you, and there is some mild drug use that is required for the character to complete a puzzle. There are other elements (drag queens, some racy dialogue, and skimpy clothing), but nothing more than what you see on TV.

I really had a lot of fun with this game. I did not realize how much I missed these games until I started playing Runaway. I am definitely hoping for a sequel.

American dream came true! Brian got a lot of money along with a brainless chick and a brand new Ferrari. I always ask myself why people come up with such a cheesy Hollywood like plots? Runway...
Is it really adventure game? Hell no. Tired with a lot of boring conversations, linear walkthrough, completely non logical puzzles, and one more thing... blood. If I wanted to see people die I would have played freaking Doom. I simply do not understand. Look at success of Myst. Or Riven. Or Siberia. The games are logical, the puzzles are complicated but you do not have to brute forcing them, no killing. Fancy. I think 75% for the game to be successful is the "idea" that at the end comes down to the plot. The "Runway..." has completely lost in this competition. The graphics is very nice and professional, the sound is very cool too but the plot is just something that broke the whole thing. You give something to a person and then you are forced to leave the scene to come back immediately for things to "magically" work out. Dah... What is that "clicking every pixel on the screen" to finally get what you want. How logical to load a machine gun with freaking lip sticks... Anyway, I want to say thanks to all the developers that work for Pendulo Studios, they did an amazing job, it is unfortunate that the script was completely out of sync.

Finally an great adventure game !

Runaway is defenetly a great adventure game !
look good old time, hand drawn Sierra and LucasArts games we used to love so much.
It's fun, and has a great plot line, not to mention a whole amazing look and feel.

This is a pretty interesting game. It's funny. It's beautiful. It's cool. And it's a smart one, a must.

The graphics are outstanding, the music pretty nice, and the script very original.

The only thing I didn't like at all was the girl. She was as gorgeous as dumb!
