I've had my pokemon red and blue since 1998 and I still think they're better than the newer ones

I bought my pokemon red and blue when I was 8 years old in 1998, and I still play them every now and again. The original pokemon red and blue games are by far my favourite ones. I love the idea when I'm playing a game that came out like 8 years ago and I know that it was once the only one of its kind that people ever knew. They were certainly very popular in back in the 90's. Yeah, the newer ones have better graphics, more pokemon, etc. but does that make them the most enjoyable? I also own pokemon yellow, green (a japanese one), gold, silver, crystal, ruby, sapphire, emerald, fire red, and leaf green, and I still think the original red and blue are, and always will be, the best. No matter how hard people try to re-make them to improve their graphics, the original version will still be better.

The original games are where the beauty of the newer ones comes from, and I think they should definitely be remembered. I've met nine-year-olds who don't know about the red and blue games, but when I let them play it for a while they were fascinated. This shows that people are easily forgetting the true, original pokemon games, which is wrong. They should always be remembered, and played. A lot more effort and new ideas went into producing pokemon red and blue, and they were extremely popular when they first came out. You can't play the newer games and not play the ones from the oldest generation! A true pokemon fan should play the oldest games in particular to see and understand how pokemon games evolved, and know about pokemon in the first generation. I highly reccomend pokemon red and blue; you can't beat the originals!

A really fun game!!

In the game, a boy named Ash (YOU) starts out with a pokemon that he recieves from his grandfather. His cousin, Gary also receives one. Gary is Ash's chief rival. Throughout the game, Ash and Gary compete with each other in trying to get the most pokemon, gym badges and being the first to reach the Pokemon League. Ash must defeat 8 pokemon gym leaders for badges. Ash must defeat other trainers and must catch and evolve Pokemon to fight with. (There are 150 U.S. pokemon in all, you can catch 139 in each game, you must trade to get the other 11.) Pokemon evolve at certain levels and learn attacks at certain levels. Some attacks only work on certain pokemon, so you must memorize which attacks work on which Pokemon. The game is quite durable and comes in a handy plastic case. The game pokemon is an awesome game and I recommend it for all ages.

Pokemon Blue. What an idea. Let me tell you a little bit about this. You start off in your house, in front of your SNES system. You go downstairs, and leave your house. Now you can walk about, talking to characters. You want to leave and explore, but you don't even take three steps into the grass when you're stopped. An elderly man runs to you (actually it's Professor Oak, a Pokemon expert.) He warns you it's dangerous in the wild, because of the untamed Pokemon. He tells you you need a Pokemon of your own to protect you. You walk back to his lab with him, and he has you choose a Pokemon. There are three on the table (in Pokeballs of course) and you must choose one. Each is a diffrent type (fire, grass, and water) and each one has its strenghs and weaknesses. I'll tell you about each one:

BULBASAUR - The grass type Pokemon. In final form, he turns out as the weakest of the three, although he still has power. He has a secondary type of poison, which lets you have more moves of diffrent kinds. He is the Pokemon for people new to this game.

SQUIRTLE - The water type Pokemon. In final form, he is strong, but not incredibly. He has no secondary type, but he ought to have a secondary as ice. He is my personal choice. He's the Pokemon for those who aren't experts at this game, but have played it before.

CHARMANDER - The fire type Pokemon. In final form, he is amazingly powerful. He has a secondary type of flying, which helps him out a lot. He's the Pokemon for very experienced players who want a challenge.

What I mean by easy to train, moderate to train, and hard to train is this; Bulbasaur is very good against the first two gym leaders (which gives you a boost in training), Squirtle is very good against the first gym leader, but bad against the second (although it still gives you a training boost, it's just smaller.) Charmander isn't very good against the first gym leader, and terrible against the second, which gives him no boost in training whatsoever. After you pick your Pokemon, you fight your rival (who picks after you.) It's a difficult battle, but it's usually easy to win. From there, you have two objectives in the game.

1: Go from town to town, raising your Pokemon, catching wild ones, fighting trainers, and collecting items. The trainers will be at your level if your raising your Pokemon correctly. What's really fun about this game is you can raise up to 6 Pokemon at a time. You want to have one of each type (fire, fighting, lightning, psychic, grass, and water) to fight trainers and win more easily, although that's not required. It's a large part of the game, because what you raise is totally up to you.

2: 150 Pokemon exist in the Red & Blue versions, and you have to catch them all. Some are easy, some difficult, some only appear once, and some you have to trade. You're probably thinking "what the heck is this moron talkin' about" but I'll explain. Red & Blue are the same game except for a few Pokemon. Some only appear in Red, some only in Blue. Because of that, you have to use a link cable, and trade. With the cable, you can also battle.

Pokemon Blue is a very strategic (and fun) game that will keep you occupied for hours. But are you stuck between the choice red over blue, or blue over red? I chose blue because I like the color blue. It really doesn't matter. I hope you found this review helpful, and good luck on your game!

Pokemon Red and Blue. If you are a fan of Pokemon and you haven't played one of these games yet, then get up and go buy one of them! They are both the same, except a few Pokemon are exclusive to each version. Whichever one you buy, you'll have a great time playing! These games are amazing RPG's, and should be a part of any Pokemon fans collection.

The graphics are good for a Gameboy game. The sound is good, too, unlike a lot of other Gameboy games that have sound that is excruciating to listen to. Unfortunately, you can only save one game on a single cartridge. This doesn't bother me, as no one else uses my Gameboy, but it would be nice to make a backup copy of my saved game. It is easy to play, but hard to master. Pokemon Red and Blue have a lot of replay value! Apparently, you haven't truly beaten the game until you capture all 150 Pokemon, which requires a link cable and a friend who has the opposite version (Unless you cheat using a Gameshark). I never really attempted to collect all the Pokemon in any of the Pokemon games; I simply tried to beat all of the other trainers and the various activities in the game, but if you are looking for a real challenge, you could attempt to collect all of them.

After you finish this game, be sure to check out the various other Pokemon games! In my opinion, they are all great games. Some people don't like the new versions because they claim they don't like the Pokemon in them, but don't listen to those people, they are just angry because Pokemon isn't "cool" anymore. I hated when Pokemon was the biggest fad for kids, because it turned off a lot of adult gamers who thought it was childish. This game is not just for kids! Go buy Pokemon Red or Pokemon Blue.

By the way, the only downside to buying either of these games is that you might lose some sleep while playing them!

Pokemon Blue is a very good game to play at anytime. The unqiue part of Pokemon Blue is that it is a adventrous game. You play as a boy to capture pokemon and battle trainers. You have to trade pokemon with your best friend. These excellent features made kids love Blue!! They want to trade and collect pokemon!! Nintendo made this game, and we should give a great thankyou to Game freak and Nintendo for making this game!!!! THANKS!!!!!!

If you want a quick 5 minute game, play Tetris. If you want to get involved in a really good GameBoy game, play Pokemon.

It's a good game, the story line is very close to maching the show. It is definetly a game that will entertain you for a long time. The graphics could use a little improvment. But like I said, it is a good game.
