Solace for Macintosh

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 3 / 6

I am a fan of the game Axis and Allies from the 80's and this game captures the feel of that old board game. You can play against the computer, over a LAN or use Freeverse's GameSmith connection service (built right in) to find players to play with. You can play via the service or even play-by-mail for those who don't have the time to play several turns at one time. If you play over the net, you must upgrade to version 1.04, since this version solved all the network bugs from the original release. Solace has 6 nations and you can play everyone for themselves or 3 on 3. Up to 6 human players can play at once and you can have the computer or one human play multiple nations. If you are looking for a nice Axis and Allies board game style game for play over the internet, look no further!

What a game

Solace is a great game for play with other humans. On Freeverse's website there is a list of players who will Play By E-Mail (PBEM) or set a time to meet on their server to play another game. Some of the games take long, so they have built in a feature to let you save the game, and continue playing some other time. But it gets better: If you want something changed or have an idea on how to improve it, they have a forums section of their website (www.freeverse.com) where you can put in your ideas. These are read at least once a day by the very person that made the game, ensuring top customer support. That sort of effort to please the public is unparalleled, which is why I recommend this game to everyone
