Being a Mechwarrior veteran, It is very hard for a robotic combat game to impress me like SL:AC has. There are 200+ Parts available and 100's of expansion missions. The Graphics of this game are spectacular! The lighting effects are visually stunning as well are the textures. The controls of this game are very responsive but require very good hand eye coordination/reflexes. I say this because you have to analyze the best weapon to use based on damage and range (I have 6 but that is most than usual. The average number is 3). The gameplay is very deep; you can select from various parts for your: Core (body), Arms, Legs, Arm Unit Left, Arm Unit Right, Back Unit Left, Back Unit Right, Booster, Radiator, Generator, Extention, Inside, Head, FCS (targeting system), and optional parts. The possible combinations are endless. Overall this game is the ultimate mech game for PS2 owners. Great Graphics, Awesome sound, Amazing Controls, and Spectacular Gameplay makes this game a must-buy!
Here's the breeakdown:
GRAPHICS: 9.7 (A)
SOUND: 8.9 (B+)
CONTROLS: 9.4 (A)
REPLAY: 9.9 (A)
LEARNING CURVE: 1-3 Hours
Best Armored Core in Years

This Armored Core is an Expansion to Armored Core 3, and boy what an expansion, you can now go into your mechs cockpit and see from the "Ravens" point of view. Plus SL also includes new parts like dual laser rifles and different cores to use on your AC. The music and sound is great(it gets better in the last level), the graphics have also been upgraded a hair more than in AC3.This one also includes AI training, you can make and customize an AI that you can teach tactics but beware it will pick up your good and bad habits. This game was easier to beat though.

For those of you who love the Armored Core games, this is the best game out so far yet. Its way better than Armored Core 3. this game has new arena opponents to battle as well as new battle grounds to choose from. The AC garage is better that the origional AC Garage. It has more weapons and equipment to mount onto your AC and the paint shop gives a new feature, such as giving your AC camoflauge and gives you the option of using a first-person view mode. They also have new emblems to chose from. If you loved playing Armored Core 3, then you have to get this game. Trust me, it's worth it.
Beter than AC3? Lets Play......

Well, well, well i love this game! I suggest to get this game. Yet very hard the game gives you an AI arena, more Arena opponents, more missions and better part selection. This game is still ongoing for me because I have all A and S ranks but only at 97% completed. My AI(new in SL:AC)is an A rank. Check out the the games last mission, so easy. I recommend the OP-Intensify which is a big help for the last couple of missions. Also new Game shark codes are out but i don't see anyone wanting to go that far! So buy the game if you have AC3. Best of the Armored Core series sence PSone is my only opinion.
#1 mech lover game!!!

If you haven't played Silent Line - don't. You'd simply be wasting your time. If you do want to play it, just rent the game. You won't get much else out of it. Compared to all other AC games, this one's difficulty is set on "Absolutely as close to impossible without quite being impossible." You won't have any fun playing this game. Almost all of the missions are defend this, defend that, protect this, protect that. Get the idea? You won't do anything interesting. For most of the missions, I estimate you'll have to try them at least 5 times. I've played all the previous AC games, and didn't have problems with any of them. This one is different.
As I said, the missions are difficult. Not only that, if you DO complete missions, you either A) Will barely make ANY credits, or B) Will lose credits. That's right, some of the most difficult missions in this game are only worth 30,000 credits on average. This isn't like old AC games where you could make money. So, if you have AC 3, I recommend converting the file to Silent Line so that you can have your old AC and credits. Otherwise, you won't go very far.
On a positive note, the graphics look cleaner, and the cockpit view is pretty cool, although I don't use it. It would take a lot of getting used to. The book that comes with the game is quite helpful, there's a lot of information in there that you hardly find in the little guides that come with the game. But, if you've already played AC games, you probably won't need it.
The arena is pretty fun, too. It's amazing how the arena is extremely easy, compared to the storyline mode, where it is extremely hard. Other AC games seemed to find a pretty good balance between the two, this one doesn't.
Maybe the source of all the trouble I'm having is the OP-INTESIFY optional part. I never liked it, I thought it was a cheap cop-out. If you have that part from AC 3 and have gotten all of the little benefits from getting it, you probably will have an easier time. I don't use it, I don't like it. I haven't played Nexus yet, but I read that they took that part out of the game. So, I'm looking forward to playing that.
So, with all that being said, what do you have from this game? A massive headache, with decent graphics, good music, an easy arena, and an almost impossible difficulty level. If you need help completing missions, God help you. The strategy guides and walkthroughs I've read don't help. You're on your own. I recommend playing something else.
This is the very best yet!

This game is really GOOD!!They put tons of new stuff in this game like for instance creating a arena and creating yourself and I do mean yourself that experiences as you do.They also have destructable weapons to destroy from your enemies and make it into your own advantage. Also there are over 200 new parts to customize.Highly recommend you get this game if you're a mech fan or not.You can also load your ARMORED CORE 3 AC'S(Robots)into Silent line which would make the game a whole lot easier and hey I did it,but of course only if you got ARMORED CORE 3,so if you still have some money to spend buy it.
Awesome!!

This game is pure fun!The graphics are great! You can costomize your AC with hundreds of items.Of course you have to earn them all .The audio is great! The music is good for this type of game. But the maine reason I love this game so much is the game play.It has a multiplayer mode were you can blast your big bro's u know what-that you probably couldn't do in real life-.I hope this review was funny but was still helpful.Go out and get SLAC now!Go on get!! I was really looking forward to owning Silent Line: Armored Core but was a little let down after playing through the first couple of missions.
If you're the type who likes big bad mechs with plenty of customization options, this may game will be of interest to you. If you only have a passing interest in this genre (as I do) then this game may frustrate you too much to enjoy.
Several of the missions are EXTREMELY difficult and MUCH practice is needed which often involves playing the same mission over and over.
The graphics are ok as is the sound but the gameplay is a little on the clumsy side.
As I hinted at above, this game's real strong point is in the customization options. It's really alot of fun putting together you mech from a large variety of parts including arms, legs, heads, cores, weapons, back units, radiators, boosters, etc... Then of course you have to choose on a color scheme which is also quite fun.
All in all this game is alright but I wouldn't go forking out the cash for this title if you're not a big fan of big robots.
