The game list for $49.99, but has been on sale for $39.99 and now is $29.99.
At $30 this game is a steal if you enjoying having people over who like trivia. The game plays similar to restaurant/sports bar on screen trivia games. The family mode is ok, but I would not buy the game if your kids are younger than 12. In conclusion, the game is for those who like trivia and want to play with friends. If you don't already like trivia you will not enjoy the game.
Loads of fun

I play this all the time alone or i a group. It provides hours of entertainment. The questions are very current and age appropiate i always cheat and lie about my age to make me feel smart, But it's very fun.

Smarty Pants is a collection of trivia questions accessed via the Wii as opposed to the old-school deck you'd find in a traditional board game. Unfortunately it stops there, since the scant additional features feel tacked-on like a lazy afterthought.
Though the menu claims to offer options, they boil down to single vs multiplayer and co-op vs competitive. The rest could be summed up as "difficulty". Once the game commences, you are presented with multiple-choice questions and choose the answer you want by simple point & click with the Wii remote.
The game's weak attempt to add motion control is implemented so poorly that as long as you waggle hard enough you get credit for any task you're supposed to perform, be it "Dance", "Jump", or even "Tug-of-War". I was hoping for more, but found myself disappointed.
The positive side of being such a basic game is that there was little opportunity for bugs or glitches- I certainly didn't encounter any. The game offers a lot of questions on a pretty wide variety of standard trivia topics, so if you're just looking for endless trivia this will be slightly more interactive than going through a Trivial Pursuit deck card by card.
In the end, though, if I'm going to plunk down my hard earned green for a video game whose core concept is already available in non-electronic format I expect to see some additions to the recipe and a unique experience. Smarty Pants fails to fulfill that expectation.

I thought this game was a lot of fun to play. The dance multiplier card is hilarious. It's great to see you friends dancing like fools to get a few extra points. They could have added some more games modes but overall it's a lot of fun.
Awesome fun for the entire family!

This game is so much fun! We have friends who call and see if they can come over and play. We originally got the game for our son, but my husband and I wait until the kids go to bed and stay up playing! As long as we have been playing, I have only seen one repeat question. Huge variety of questions; from science to fashion, there is something for everyone!
Fun!

My husband and I enjoy this game. My 4-year-old is too young to play on her own, unless we read her the questions (in which case, she can easily answer most of them that are geared to her age, but she loses interest because how fun is it to just be asked questions by your mom?). I wondered if the "dancing" part of it would make my husband roll his eyes and grab for something more "manly," but it ended up just being pretty funny. The questions are challenging, the remotes easy to use (my 65-year-old non-video-gaming parents picked it up immediately) and the categories are broad enough to remain interesting. We've played it quite a bit and only rarely do we get repeat questions. Overall, worth the money!
I wanted it to be so much better....

I have to preface this review by saying it may have been different had we not purchased Buzz for PS2 and Smarty Pants at the same time. I LOVE Buzz so much it's tainted my view of Smarty Pants. It's a fun game, but not as good as Buzz. I think I'll enjoy it more when we add more Wiimotes so all players can have one. Some of the questions are more difficult than I would have expected. It's def still a fun party game!
Smarty Pants is FUN FUN FUN!

A great game, loads of fun. The more people the better. Keeps you on the edge of your seat. And teaches you alot of stuff you forgot about in school. Best trivia game I've seen, with twists and turns. Highly recommended! AAA+++
A good rental... Not a good buy.

Enjoy playing smarty pants with my husband and 6 year old daughter. The game knows my daughter's age so she can read and answer most of the questions. Once you are done playing together as a "family", then you can play "friends" and compete to see who is going to be the Smarty Pants. My husband and I enjoy trying to beat one another. Good game to have some time with your family having fun.
