Love It.

Most of my Wii-related purchases are made with the thought of being able to play them with my girlfriend, and this game is great.

I got hooked on House of the Dead a few summers ago in an arcade in Ocean City, MD, and when I saw this for $20, I got it along with a couple of Wii Perfect Shot Guns. My girlfriend and I love it. Some of the other reviews complain about graphics, but honestly, they're fine. My girlfriend and I don't mind the "no-continue" aspect of it, because we get better at it the more times we play.

Great game for the Wii, definitely reccomend it for anybody.

Must Play With a Friend

This is a great example of what I call "The Principle of Relative Graphics"

Put simply: We always remember games as having better graphics, this is because we remember the graphics as they were in relation to everything leading up to when we played the game. For example, Super Mario World was state of the art and amazing when it first came out. Similarly Star Fox was impressive when compared to asteroids and so forth.

Now we have games with graphics that push the limits to what the human eye can even perceive...the real issue should be gameplay for new games.

anyways

When these games came out at the arcade they rocked hardcore, the graphics were amazing and quarters became scarce, now they are dated(particularly 2).

Bottom Line: Blasting Zombies with a friend(on 3 primarily) is still fun.

Incredibly Disappointing and Boring!

I was really looking forward to this game because I wanted something fun and silly to play with friends, and what's more fun that shooting zombies? Well, I bought it shortly after it came out, and after only a few plays, I'm ready to trade it in (not to mention it's set my "rent before you buy" policy in concrete). I knew it was an arcade style game, but the fact that it seems like they just took the arcade game and put it on a disk was disappointing. It's worse because it's not even a good arcade game!

The Good:
-You get to shoot zombies.

The Bad:
-The dialogue is stilted and poorly written.
-The graphics are very 90's arcade game, blocky and kind of jerky when they move.
-You can't save, which ok, it's an arcade style game. BUT...
-It's the exact same every time you play! After just a few plays, my boyfriend and I would be like "watch out for the one coming on the left" or "don't shoot that human around the corner."
-There really aren't that many extra credits to earn, so you die, a lot. Which then brings me back to it being the same every time you play.
-You have no control over where, when, or how you move or even where you look. Again, I know it's an arcade game, but the rest of it was just so boring that I was aggravated by the inability to move.

I guess I've just been spoiled by games that are at least a little different each time you play or are a little more exciting. Now, if I had paid $10 or $15 for this game, I would just shrug it off as a loss. But this game is NOT worth $30.

The House of the Dead 2 and 3 is a great deal, and is everything I expected.Arcade mode is fun to play but is sometimes hard. The house of the dead 2 and 3 return features perfect ports of the original games and you get a bonus on The House of the head 3 with extreme mode. The only bad thing is there are no saving points and have to start the game from the beginning of story. The house of the dead 2 and 3 are really fun shooters for new and old fans and i wouldn't pass this game up buy it.

I've already taken care of G!!

This game is so much fun!!! My husband and me play it almost every night since we have had it!! Worth the money!!

Fun, entertaining. But kinda terrible, it's what you'd expect.

I bought this game because I have played these games before and never been able to get that far. Also, it was cheap.
This game is exactly what you'd expect. It's basically the games that you used to play at the arcade but for the Wii. It has terrible voice acting and even worse graphics, like the originals. But all in all, it's really entertaining. It can be a bit hard, and it's fairly repetitive.
There is one defining feature, and that's the "original" game. It gives you power-ups and stuff, but it's basically the same game.
So, if you liked the games in the arcade and want to save some quarters, this game is for you. If you can't stand '90s arcade graphics, I wouldn't suggest it.

Lots of fun

My husband and I are not gamers, we bought the Wii for family fun with our 13 yr old daughter. We all love this game. Shooting the zombies is a blast, and it's a fun way to spend time together. You can tone down the gore, and the graphics are certainly good enough for what it is. A good way to spend a hot summer afternoon.

Entertaining To A Point But Still A Great Let Down In All

I bought this game thinking it would be just as entertaining as Resident Evil The Umbrella Chronicles game for the wii was I ever disappointed. The main disappointment for me was the graphics while I was not expecting the greatest seeing these cheap and poorly rendered RE zombie knockoffs was a joke as well as the weapons and scenery while moving around the levels of the game. The next problem I felt was the game has you play like it WAS the arcade version which means that you can't continue on after all the credits your characters have are used up after being killed which means after you used the four to seven credits and your character dies you have to start the game from the very beginning. The final problem was the voice actors they got for the game they were so awful I wished I could turn their voices off during game play and just read the subtitles you could tell they were just reading from their scripts with no feeling what so ever it was very sad and pathetic. You can upgrade your characters health points somewhat as well as get more credit points
with the game extras and there are some small extras as well but I just felt that their not worth mentioning. Also I have to say unlike with the
RE Umbrella Chronicles game this game gives you no control of the camera angles so you can't really look around for any hidden items as much as you could with REUC you do sometimes get to pick which direction you want to go but All In All there won't be much of a difference which way you go. So if you like shooting games for the Wii and for a reasonable
price this might be for you but if you are looking for any thing else in the game I say wait for another game to come your way...

Good rental game

I got this game about a month ago, and have played it only once or twice. If any of you have played this in the arcade, it's the exact same game. I would only rent this game if I could go back and not purchase it. It's a direct port from the arcade. I paid about 32 bucks for it, and my friend and I nearly beat HOTD2 in about 15 minutes. I'm not kidding. You could probably easily beat both games in about 2 or 3 hours. RENT THIS GAME! It is not worth your money to buy it! Take my advice!

Still fun, and the calibration is as close to perfection as you can get!!

I was always a fan of this series since the second installment first came home on the Dreamcast in 1999. It was also released on XBox and PCs, yet the Dreamcast version had some badly inaccurate gun calibration, regardless of which brand of light gun I used. To get the best score requires pinpoint precision, and this has the best accuracy of any previous light gun on the market. We can only hope that someone will bring out more shooter franchises, especially the Time Crisis and/or Point Blank series.

As for the games themselves, 2 is a perfect Dreamcast port (which is almost identical to the arcade game), while HOTD3 has had a slight graphics downgrade when compared to the arcade version, but still looks and plays well.

There are no extras to speak of, nor is there any version of the original HOTD.
