I own the PC sims 2 pets, and mac is exactly the same. I love dogs and cats, and in this game, Aspyr does a FANTASTIC job of graphics. In each sim household, there can be up to 6 dogs/cats or 10 sims and pets in a household together. There are many new objects and a new function: Create a Pet. In Create A Pet, you get to choose the breed of your dog or like building a sim, you can customize the tail, nose, eyes, ears, and body. You also get to choose markings like a white muzzle or spots or stripes. There are many different colors your dog and cat can be, and you also get to choose the personality of your pet.
To me, the best thing in the Sims Pets EP is puppies and kittens. They can breed! In each litter, there can be up to 4 puppies/kittens. It always varies from 1-4 babies. Like sim babies, you usually can't tell what they'll look like when older, but when they grow up, they'll be a cross between their two parents. I hope this helped- and for christmas this year, it is definitely worth putting on your wishlist.

I feel this is THE BEST Sims 2 Expansion Packs! I liked Nightlife, but I felt
the Sims 2 Pets has a lot more creativity. You can really achieve a lot in this game.
Not only can your pets get jobs to earn more income for you, you are also making a family very happy
when you create a pet. I love also being able to meet other animals in the neighborhood. You can adopt strays
once you become friendly with them. It's a cool game. A MUST for any animal lovers, and Sims/Sims 2 fan!
A nice addition

The pets expansion makes a nice addition to Sims 2. At the time I write this, there are still a few bugs floating around (as there always are just after a new game comes out) such as some oddities with whether puppies will grow up to have floppy ears or raised ears. Nothing crippling that I've seen, though.
The dogs and cats can have jobs and go to work, though I find it a little strange how easily a single one can end up making plenty of money to support a household (they top 1000 simoleons in a week in the higher ends of their careers).
Many of the nicest parts of the expansion are actually the cute little moments that happen as the pets choose their own actions. I had a family with a couple of toddlers where the dog was trying to lick a child's face and had the interaction rejected. After that the dog periodically looked at the child and whined sadly, even when the toddler was in his crib asleep. I've seen other cute things like adult pets nuzzling puppies and kittens, and toddler's attempting to eat out of the pet bowls.
It doesn't add a huge amount of new gameplay possibilities in the way that University and Open for Business did, but it does add some nice features. That's particularly true for sims that you want to have live alone, or in small families, who can meet their social needs by having pets instead of constantly using the telephone.
Where's the Mac support, Aspyr?

Sims 2 Pets is an endearing expansion for the Sims franchise, but Mac users beware: although Aspyr has released a patch for the Windows platform to fix the game's many bugs, there is currently (4/6/07) no patch available for the Mac. Errors include taking a puppy or kitten to work if you're interacting with them when the carpool shows up, children floating when chatting with each other, and -- when your pets retire from a job -- your Sims are silently demoted in their career path.
Please release a Mac patch, Aspyr.
Good, but needs some work

I just bought the Sims 2 Pets, and I've really enjoyed it. However, it has a lot of bugs. I've noticed a decrease in performance quality since I installed it. It's not anything super serious, but you can tell. I also had some trouble with Sims faces' being different if I altered a pet profile last in the create-a-new-family section. Weird. It also doesn't have as many new objects as I would like (new clothes, hairstyles, etc.), but the stuff that is new is pretty cool. It's also really fun to give your pets jobs. So overall, don't be scared to get the game, but also keep an eye out for a patch that will correct the problems. I haven't been able to find one yet.

I played the PC Version of the Sims 2 Pets at my friends house. The mac version is the same, and it is on my Xmas wishlist. In tS2 Pets, you can create pets of different sizes and breeds and put on layers of fur in various colors. My friend and I made dogs that looked just like our own dogs, and it was really fun. You can set the dog/cat's personality and don't have limited points. There is also new pet furniture and flooring and walls and windows and stuff, and Space stuff too. The one thing I didn't like was being unable to tell your pet directly what to do, but it is still ok because your sim can train and give your pet commands.

The game altogether adds more to the Sims2
And I although I didn't have any problems installing them, the pets are way too time consuming. You can't have a dog and a child in the same family because they both take up so much of your attention. Another thing I didn't like about it was the fact that you can't control your pet. For example, I had an adopted pet, who wouldn't eat pet food, as a result of that, he was almost always starving.
This game is good if you like single families but anymore then that and it'll be very hard for you to keep up.
Good game

I ordered it from Amazon, it was shipped late but when it finally got here it was really fun to play. I've personally waited for pets in the Sims 2 ever since it came out, and this adds a lot more than the Sims 1 Expansion pack Unleashed. It can get a little boring after a while, but it's a nice addition to the game.
But if you don't want pets and want new objects or decorations, this isn't the pack for you. There is minimal additions in that area, I think all of the new objects can only be used by the pets themselves.
I love this game sooooo much!!!
