Biblical Role Playing Fun!

5 Rating: 5, Useful: 59 / 62
Date: November 14, 2005
Author: Amazon User

Note: For those who have read my Xbox review, I won't make this review so long...:)

If you like a good role-playing adventure, and love Bible trivia, then you'll appreciate this game.

You read the animated intro to the game. Parents are talking to their children about "The Armor of God", and keeping it safe by reading their Bibles. Then, the game begins...

You make your selection of which character you want to be (not too hard, as there is only a choice of two characters). After you have chosen your character, your clothes change (you look like someone right out of The Crusades)

The way this game is played, you move around building up on scrolls (these are very important! Press "select" to read the scroll, as it provides you with a Bible verse from either the Old or New Testaments. Always read your scrolls, you will see why later...)
You also collect crosses; these are helpful. You need these to convert into Holy Water. You do this by talking to townsfolk you see as you walk around the area.

There are 7 areas. Each area you travel contains one of the seven pieces of The Armor of God. To obtain a piece of the Armor, you need a "key". Each "key" is broken into pieces, and to get a piece, you need to locate and battle a "Deciever" (those devil-looking beings). Once you find him, you throw Holy Water at him, this stuns him for a moment. Then walk up to him.
You are asked a series of questions (this is why the scrolls are important to read!) After you answer the questions correctly, you will recieve a piece of the "key". Do this until you have completed a full "key". Then, the screen will scroll to where you need to be; find this location, and you will obtain one of the pieces of The Armor of God.

I like this game as it provides role-playing action/adventure, as well as test your knowledge of the Old and New Testement Bible. I strongly support and recommend this game. I encourage everyone to buy both this version, as well as the Xbox version (read my Xbox review).

This is a great interactive game that up to four people can play at a time. It has great music artist that play through all of the challenges. If the creators (Crave) would have included New testament, I would have given it 5 stars for overall. Your children (10 and under) will love this game. The older children will also like if the attitude goes to the wayside. I find it critical in the days we live in for there to be wholesome entertainment for Christians to enjoy. Show your support for this game by purchasing it.

This is a fun trivia game that my daughter and husband love to play together.

I don't think God is on our side

You would think, if you truly had God on your side, you'd be able to produce a better game. However Crave's The Bible Game appears to be mostly devoid of compelling content, or honestly, any kind of Christian message at all.
The video game is based around a game show. That pins you against either 4 human or computer controlled characters. It seems decent enough however until you realize there is very little order to how the game is run. Each player takes turns randomly jumping onto different points on the game board. One of these pieces is "The Wrath of God", where you lose all of your points for the round if you land on it. Just so we get this clear. The Wrath of God is completely random and the deserving and undeserving are likely to land on it. Nice way to spread the Love of God.
In the final round, Players have a chance to get some extra points from the Tree of Knowledge. If you pick any fruit, other than the apple, you get a lot of extra points. However if you pick the apple, you lose all of your points. Once again this is completely random and you wonder why you should even try. This game seems to favor focusing on the mean spirited God of the Old Testament and leave out Jesus altogether. Once again, Nice way to spread the love of God.
The challenges are both trivia and minigames which consist of questions that are repeated all too often. The game claims to have over 1500 Bible questions but you only have access to the questions based on the difficulty you set for the game at the beginning so players get ripped off by not getting the total game experience.
One of the best games is the tower of Babel. This has the feel of "stab your neighbor in the back". Otherwise, there's just not much fun to be had. Most of the games have a Christian soundtrack so either you'll enjoy the game because you like it or you'll enjoy it because the songs are so painfully annoying.
As a pastor, I'm embarrassed to see that this is what we Christians have to offer the public. If you just want to entertain the kiddies for a few minutes, this game is fine. honestly, Most stories in the Bible could honestly make for an awesome gaming experience if we focused on one character such as David. But considering we are to show the excellence of God, in all that we do, this game falls way too short. There seems to be no message at all about the core belief of Jesus and what our message is, The Great Commission. If we are to spread the word, we need to start by not making bad video games.

Pros:The Tower of Babel minigame is fun
Cons: Most of the other games are boring, The game mechanics are mushy

I gave this game as a gift to my son and he seems to enjoy it. It is different from the Xbox game of the same title, which is nice.

Mostly a trivia game...

This game for the GBA is not a real entertaining game and is kindof weird. You chase around flying demons, squash bugs, and then answer trivia questions. The trivia is a good test of your knowledge but, the gameplay is not that fun.

Excellent game and good for the soul!!

Not only is this game boy game fun, but it teaches the Bible as well. It teaches a wealth of knowledge about the Bible in a fun, updated fashion. Christian parents will feel better knowing that all that time on the Gameboy is not a waste, but that their child is learning about the Scriptures.

I thought this game was for small children, but it's a little more difficult than expected. I also didn't care for the spiders and scorpions. Most children are afraid of these things and don't consider it much fun to play a game with these in it. I like the concept of defeating the enemy and learning scripture, I just don't care how you go about it.
