Great Game for Kids and the Family!!!!

I have twin boys 4 1/2 years old and this was their first introduction to the world of Star Wars and I gotta say this game is fantastic! They learned how to use the keys on the keyboard with ease and they play this game every single day and never get tired of it. I find them laughing like crazy at the funny scenes and also yell and scream with enjoyment as they discover new things and win over the bad guys. They also run around the house acting out the Lego characters they play with. LOTS and LOTS of fun for kids and the family and it never gets boring. I run this on an iMac G5 20" 2GHZ 1Gb RAM at full resolution (1680 x 1050) with ease. I am very impressed with this release!!!

I love this game.My sons loves this game and they are 7 and 4 years old..There is so much challenge and it'll take time to figure things out but isn't that how all the games are...you kinda play with it for a while then you become good at it..The sparkling things the other reviewer was asking about is a spot where a jedi needs to use their force to reveal what's hidden behind it..if you don't have the jedi character yet then you can purchase it from the Mos Eisley Cantina or just keep going with the story mode and as you finish the story chapters you'll gain characters...then you can actually go back on the chapters and play freeplay.. this is where the fun begins because you'll be given 5 or more characters to switch around in order to enter some doors and get hidden lego bricks..it's really fun..i have all version of this game. pc, mac, xbox halo, xbox 360, psp, ds lite..my sons totally enjoys the game because they love the movie..if you know the story you can play this game.

A precarious balance between novelty and frustration

I found the original LEGO Star Wars to be a terrific game for my children and me to play together and for me to introduce them to the Star Wars universe. The extremely forgiving game play and the light tone made for a great family experience. While LEGO Star Wars II introduces exciting new elements (mix-and-match character building, more mini-games, etc.), the overall experience is much more frustrating. The controls are not quite as precise, especially for the various vehicles, many of which require very deliberate movements in order to solve puzzles. The flying scenes are especially non-intuitive, and essentially impossible for my 6 year old. With the first game, I really looked forward to each chapter ... now I'm starting to dread moving ahead, and have even resorted to reading a walk-through, which was absolutely not necessary for the first game. Finally, the game play is sluggish, though I admit I'm playing this on a 2-year old system (iMac G5 2.0 GHz) and am using the keyboard, not a controller.

Fun at first but gets boring

This is my first experience with Lego Star Wars and I have to say it's a bit of a let down. The instruction booklet does little to teach you how to play but once you do figure out the actual gameplay you still see things that you aren't sure about (ie: the objects with the sparkling stars on them...what do you do with them?).

Not only that but every level is a puzzle and there are some where you just get trapped. There are no hints, no clues, and no help to get out which leaves you trapped in a room just walking around and trying everything you can to get out. The characters walking with you get in the way so often that you end up hitting them just to get them to move.

I played this on a black Macbook with 1.83 Ghz processor and there are several levels where the game stalls or slows significantly. I realize this game is probably meant for the dual processor Macs.

It also refuses to save unless you at the end of a level. So if you want to stop playing there's no way to do that without starting from the beginning of the level next time. I also play with a gamepad and reassigned all buttons to run the game - the game hints tell you what buttons to push for certain things (primarily in the Canteena) but it uses the keyboard assigned keys, not your new mappings.

The only good things about the game are the graphics, which are cool. But overall I cannot recommend this unless you want hours of frustration as you try to figure out gameplay.

GREAT GAME!

We have both the Star Wars I and II. They are perfect for our young boys and my husband and I enjoy playing them as well. My boys often ask me to play a level with them. We have a lot of fun playing together as a family. If your kids like Star Wars, they will love this game.

installation problem

An attempt to install on a Mac Mini failed. The installation app stated insufficient video resources as the reason for the abort.

The Feral Interactive website has a system checker you can use before you purchase. I only wish I had known about it before buying the game from Amazon.

Pretty addictive and fun for the kids and adults

Lego and Star Wars...is there a better combination? Good graphics on my iMac 20" Intel. You can lose hours of productivity playing this game. Beware. Puzzles are challenging. This game has hours and hours of entertainment.
