Thinking about buying? Read this FIRST (controller can't "map" to game)

What a piece of junk. I have a Logitech Precision controller that played PERFECTLY with Lego Star Wars 2. All i had to do is click on it once, and it worked by default. No problem, no maintenance. But not on Indy. Turns out you can't use your controller unless you "map" it onto ALL the possible controls MANUALLY. Come to find out, I run out of buttons on my controller to assign to functions in the game. And so it won't let me "accept" my settings because i have 2 empty slots. I read on some forums that you can assign those useless slots to the keyboard. I tried, you can't. So i can't play the game with a controller. I have to use keyboard. That's stupid. LucasArts, you guys suck. Thankfully I was smart enough to not purchase the game and feel ripped off, i used the demo. LucasArts, you did not and WILL not take my money. I strongly recommend that anyone thinking about buying, play the demo and see if you can use your controller.

I bought this for my son for his birthday. A week after buying it, we still can't get it to run correctly. We have already had to download a major patch from the manufacturer, but it still runs choppy and freezes.

You might want to wait for them to work all of the bugs out before you buy.

My son is still very disappointed.

turn down settings

Its a great continuation of the Lego game series. Like others I had problems getting the game to run properly. After I turned down the settings it runs fine. This game has way more graphics going on than the Star Wars games remember the Star Wars series is a few years old. Makes sense that the newer game would demand more of your computer. Check to make sure your computer is up to snuff and don't assume if you were able to get Lego Star Wars to work fine that Indiana Jones would be the same. Its a fun game, I can't wait for Lego Batman.

Standard USB gamepads won't work

The standard USB gamepads most people already own for use on their PC will not work with Lego Indiana Jones. For some reason (bad programming), a basic USB gamepad like the Logitech Precision gamepad, which has 10 buttons and an up/down/left/right stick is not sufficient for this game. This doesn't mean that you can use the gamepad, but just miss a few functions; it means you CANNOT actually play the game at all with this gamepad, it won't let you start. Read the official LucasArts forums for more details. Here are a couple good responses from Lucasarts: remember that this is a basic game, not a flight simulator or WoW.

"That controller does meet the minimum number of inputs required for LEGO Indiana Jones."

"The game supports dual-analog gamepads,

Required number of controller inputs:

2 analog sticks (4 axes) and 11 buttons
or
1 analog stick (2 axes) and 15 buttons
or
19 buttons."

Raid On!

What a fun game! We bought this as a game for the whole family- it has adventurous appeal to the adults, and the cooperative gameplay feature has allowed our kids to enjoy some time with dad.

We enjoy the wit and funny twists on the Indiana Jones movies. It's a blast to be able to play all the different characters and discover their unique abilities.

Our major disappointment has been how intensive the game is on the video card and memory. We have laptops running at around 1.5Ghz and 500Mb of RAM. The cutscenes were painfully slow to load and there was no option to skip scenes you've already watched. We also discovered we had to turn OFF all the video options to even get the game to play, then found that many of the levels completely grey-out due to the intense graphics, or the program locks up all together. We had to borrow another PC to successfully play the whole game.

Summary: if your PC only meets the minimum req's, think about upgrading before getting this game. Get the game eventually, though, because the hours of laughs and fun adventures are well worth it!

In this game you can interact with the enviroment way more than lego star wars. You can pick things up for example, a box. You can also pick guns and enemy's hats off the ground. this is a great game!

Great Game! Lots of fun and adventure!

I just picked this game up last night for my PC, and all I can say after several hours of playing it is, "WOW!" This game is a lot of fun, and there is definetly a lot to do and see in this game. I am not a real big fan of adventure games in general, if you can call this an adventure game, but this game is really a lot of fun. This was my first Lego PC game. I have played Lego Star Wars for PS2, and I have the Lego Star Wars game for PC, but have never got around to actually playing it. I have always been a big Indiana Jones fan, and I heard this game was really good, so I went ahead and purchased it. So far, I have have none of the issues that others have had with having problems getting this game to load or run. I am using the Xbox 360 controller for Windows, so maybe that helps. I haven't tried any other controller for this game, so I can't comment on any controller issues. I bought the 360 controller mainly because I know a lot of the Windows games are built around the use of this particular controller. I would guess that LucasArts will eventually come out with the needed patch to use other controllers for this game. I would definetly recommend the 360 controller anyway, it is just the best controller I have ever used for PC games. I am using a computer that I built myself. I have a Pentium 4 3.0 GHz processor, 2 Gigs of RAM, and a PNY GeForce 8500GT 512MB video card. My sound card is a Soundblaster Audigy. The game has paused a couple of times very briefly, but other than that, no problems. I am planning on eventually adding 2 more Gigs of RAM to my system. The graphics and gameplay are awesome! I would imagine that they are at least comparable to the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of this game. I am mainly a PC gamer anyway, I don't even own a 360 or PS3 as of yet. I can't justify spending the kind of money for these consoles when I am just a casual gamer anyway. Anyway, back to the game. This game is one that I would recommend for any Indiana Jones fans, or fans of the Lego series. There is definetly some replay value to this game. I downloaded a strategy guide for the game, so that helps with some of the more challenging parts of the game. The game seems to follow the movies pretty closely, and there is a lot of humor with the various characters in the game as well. I can't wait until September for the Lego Batman game! I give this game a thumbs up! Just make sure your computer is up to snuff and that you have a good processor and video card before purchasing this game. I had all of those things in mind when I built my computer, so no problems with the game on this end. Like I said, the Xbox 360 controller for Windows is almost a must-have if you are going to be playing Windows games on the PC. Fair or not, but this is simply the controller that a lot of the game programmers are using when they design games, as there are a ton of different controllers out there. Bottom line, go get this game!

Great game

I bought this game for my youngest son's 9th birthday. He and his 13-year-old brother play for one hour a day in the co-op mode, and would play all afternoon if I let them. He thanks me on a daily basis for what he calls "the best game in the world." My middle son has the Lego Star Wars v. 1 & 2 games, and loves them just as much, so all are winners.
