Okay, I'm going to be totally honest here. I HATED THIS GAME when I first played it. I had SO much trouble with the solar power thingy. I lost my gun power REPETITIVE times. I have played this game maybe three time and none of those times did I have fun.

Once again, MEH! Without having to hold this stupid game up to the sun every waking moment, I would have MUCH more fun with this game!

This weekend, I'm selling this game at a local game store. I'll forget I ever bought it.

(Please excuse any drama I may have cooked up. I'm a very dramatic person, and I'm proud enough to let it show.)

umm, good idea but is it neccesary?

i bought this game used and i've turned it on maybe twice... i get to the first level. i didn't know much about this game. i took a chance on it thinking it might be a fun RPG adventure... i had no idea that i needed sun to play. well, i live in portland and theres not much sun this time of year... i guess if i want to play i'll have to wait a few months... but i'll probably give up before then... there are so many other games out there... why didn't they just make it LIGHT sensitive. If i'm outside i usually have better things to do than stare at a screen.

the graphics that i saw looked pretty and the sound seemed okay but like i said... i didn't get far... maybe my cartridge is broken? who knows...

Go ahead and buy this one, even if it is, at times, a bore.

Boktai's plot is integrated around its one key gimmick: as Django, you hunt vampires, and you need sunshine (that's right! Real sunshine!) to do it. Game environments even alter themselves depending on whether it is day or night. Perfect. But other aspects of gameplay are remarkable, as well: in keeping with the Metal Gear design, you are urged to sneak around and strategize. In fact, limited sun-power during nighttime gameplay actually necessitates it.

It's true that this a new way of playing. Still, sometimes the gameplay and puzzles are a little dull and repetitive--which is heartbreakingly disappointing given the attention paid to all other aspects of game design. Boktai is conceptually thrilling, but the actual game is just sort of... not. Gameplay simply isn't quite what it should have been.

Still, sheer innovation tops Boktai's design flaws. And absolutely nothing is more exciting than going to the park on a sunny day, finding a bench in a nice patch of light, turning on my GBA, and hearing it say to me, "Today is one great Boktai day!" I can't help but think to myself, "Isn't it?"

The sun shines on this game! (literally!)

Boktai the sun is in you hands is one very inovative cartrige.
The game has a built in solor cell that requires its players to utilize the sun the recharge weapon systems and take out vampires with a sun-stun-gun! (say that ten times fast) I have played the Japanese version and am more then impressed. I wasn't worried about the quality since it was designed by the great Hideo Kojima, who many of you may know as the brains behind the Metal Gear series. I would recomend you pick up this game the day it comes out, and hopefully it isn't cloudy where you live!

For a long time iv wanted this game for a long time about three months.I was exited to finnally get it, I understood it uses sunlight to play,I waited two days days to play, all the sunny days in san clmente The sun doesnt come out So I try to play without it because I wanted to play,and......trust me it doesnt work well. You need reeeeeal sunlight which I know. The gameplay isnt good, the graphics are ok.You probably dont want this game unless its constantly sunny.Overall,it isnt great I would not buy.I wasted money you should get sword of mana instead.

I got this game about a week ago. I am totally addicted to it already! Now my favorite Gameboy Advance game, Boktai: The Sun Is In Your Hand uses solar power to manipulate the gameplay. In the beginning, you set the time and the region in which you live. There are a lot of cities, so if you are close to them it really helps the gameplay! Also, how much sunlight you have affects the world in the game. In smaller levels and in Immortals' (the big boss guys) castles there are skylights to give you the advantage. BUT, they only appear if there is sun going into the solar sensor! Don't worry about nighttime playing! You can store the solar energy you get into solar stations for later use. You get power-ups for your gun like bigger batteries for more solar storage and lenses to use different attacks (The Luna Lens doesn't use ANY energy!). Also there are secrets only unlockable when there is sunlight. Some examples are the green, red, and gold apples.

Green: says- Sour!

Red: says- Sweet!
Gold: says- Mmm!

How much sunlight is going into the sensor determines how visible the words or secrets are. To conclude this review I will say one very, very, important thing...

YOU NEED SUNLIGHT TO BEAT THE BOSSES! OTHERWISE YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO BEAT THEM AND THEY WILL DESTROY YOU JUST THE SAME!

Thank you for your time. ^_^

Best game ever on game boy! It is about a boy who is known as the solar boy, the heir to the solar gun, and is the sun to the most famous vampire slayer ever. His father has been slain by one of the immortals and is inside the red scarf around the solar boy's neck. Now he must avenge his father and while doing so he must save the Moon Beauty.
Major Pros:On the game there is a solar sensor that pics up rays from the sun. The solar sensor is the soul reason for all of it's features. Your gun can run out of energy, and when it does if the sensor is picking up solar rays and if you press A, then it will refill your gun. Depending on how strong the light is depends on how strong the enemy is (strong light=weak monster...weak light=strong monster). The game is not very hard as most gameboy games tend to be, but it is not to easy to where it is boring. Major Cons: The only con is that if there is no sun where you are (if it's night)and no generators (generators give solar energy to your gun) then you have to wait till the sun comes out to recharge your gun and fight. Overall: BUY IT NOW! It is so fun! Rating: 10 out of 10
Hint: The solar sensor only pics up real sun rays not artificial light like a light bulb.

worth the money

the game to some seems stupid because you really do need the power of the sun to complete the game, but having a gun really powered by the sun gives the game a curtain charm and difficulty level that some game players may actually enjoy. the music in the game isn't the kind that'll drive you nuts either, it is actually well planned. you'll notice that the music in some way replicates music from metal gear solid. batlle music is just about the same as the chase music in sons of liberty, and the normal dungeon music is an advance version of metal gear solid for gameboy color. gameplay is good but can get annoying when the things the ghouls shoot out end up following you into the next room. overall the game can keep you entertained as long as you're patient to be able to get through a dungeon by sneaking instead of blasting every "undead" you see. think of it as metal gear solid with vampires instead of russians and a solar gun in place of your socom. if given to someone as a gift, do it later in the year when the sun is out longer...would make the game easier.

IT'S GREAT!

Okay some people diss this game cus its to hard to get sunlight or to charge your gun, or it overheats or things like that but its really not true, heck I live in Eugene Oregon and I manage to get more than enough light to play, I've beaten the game on normal and hard modes, and even here, in cloud country I had almost a full solar meter! and even when I did have a full meter, it took nearly two hours to overheat my gun. Another thing people seem to dislike it the gameplay, personally I think its amazing, and the sneaking doesnt dull the game in the least bit! It makes it more chalenging, I have a feeling people say its bad because its HARD not bad. So unless your not big on READING MANUALS or are incompetant im sure this game is for you!

great game

the only drawback is that the sun tends to produce a good amouunt of glare off of my GBA SP, which sorta gives me a headache...but otherwise it's a great game :p
