Great Arcade Football for the GBA

I was searching for a good arcade football game for the GBA. I bought Madden 2003 due to positive reviews, but it is heavy on the simulation side and wasn't my type of football. I was leaning towards NFL Blitz for GBA due to my love of it on PS2, but it reviews poorly and is fairly [$$$] considering it rated a 1 out of 10 on [...]. So I bought Backyard Football, based on 2 positive reviews, and it is really fun to play. It is similar to Tecmo Bowl (side view play) and works well for the GBA. It has NFL players as well as fictional children to choose from and you pick all of your players, just like if you were playing backyard football. It has season play and 2 player game-linking, provided you have a second cartridge and a link cable. The music is awesome and sounds good in the background. The graphics are fairly good, although the characters are so small, the details differentiating characters are minimal. All in all, this seems to be the Arcade Football game to get for GBA.

this is a cool game.

I got this game on christmas morning, and when i poped the game in my GBA i had a feeling this was going to be a hard game. i played it for about an hour and then i got used to it. The more you play it becomes easier.
It has 10 pros. they are:Brett Farve,Micheal Vick,Peyton Manning,Jerry Rice,Jeff Garcia, Donavan Mcnabb,Jevon Kerse,Rich Gannon, Terrel Davis, and Ricky Williams. i give the graphics a 7 out of a 10. there are alot of game modes,such as, practice,pick up,Season play,multiplayer,and player cards.
If you are looking for a good football game for kids this is the game.

This is a awesome game. It is really fun. I like to make my own players. I play it a lot. They have cool power plays and also have tricky plays.

This game is not challenging at all.

Disappointing, but playable

I really enjoyed backyard hockey. I liked the detail (the different play of each rink, line changes, off sides and 2line pass rules), creating lines based on player strengths and being able to change line ups based on fatigue without slowing down the play and the controls and moves were intuitive and fit hockey play.

Unfortunately, backyard football lacked the just about everything that I liked about backyard football. There is some playablility in this game, but I got tired of it quickly. I liked the trick plays, and I messed around with the playbook, but the competition was never challenging for a single player. In fact, once I got a lead in a game, the challenge was running out the clock and getting to the next game. I was very very very disappointed in this game, especially since most backyard games are fun and this wasn't.

My son LOVES this game! He can't stop playing it!

My 8 year old son LOVES this game. We got the 2003 version and he could not stop playing it.... Then for Christmas he begged for the 2004 version. He plays it for hours, without asking one question, which is saying a lot..... He also loves Backyard Baseball. We now have Backyard Football 2003 & 2004 for PC, and now Backyard Football for Gameboy .... so he can play against his friends.....

Way too easy, meant for young kids.

The game is way too easy if you're an experienced player. Even set on hard, it's not a challenge. The good point is that the play selection is extensive.

This game rocks.

At first this game is too easy. But it has a lot of depth, you can create your own characters, or just pick up a game and play. The fun is in changing around your offensive and defensive playbook and in trading players to try to beat your opponents even better than you do. It's satisfying to win. I'm sick and tired of games like crash bandicoot that just get insanely difficult to win while getting all of the boxes, gems, and apples. I'm sick of playing the last boss of metroid fusion 100 times and still being defeated. I'm sick of having to conserve my bullet-time on Max-Payne only to waste it accidently right before a big battle with no way to replenish it without taking hits. So yeah, as far as Gameboy Advance Games go, Backyard Football Rocks.
