On the fun scale of 1 to 10, this game gets a 13! I love it. It's really challenging, but NEVER frustrating. There is much replay value here. As every battle is different. You deploy real life millitary strategies to win, like flanking, routing, and ambushing. I can't get enough of it. BUY BUY BUY!

This game is aewsome. You follow the mission objectives (usually destroy your opponent), build powerful armies, and conquer your world back. The map designer is a great feature in this game for you have almost no limits. The backround music is cool, the graphics are aewsome, and the different units are so unique.
This is one of the few games you'll never get bored of.
A comment about the game.

I have only played one map (in the War Room) so far, but I think I should share with would-be-buyers (who aren't used to this kind of game) what bothered me the most.
---Every time you want to save with a different map setup in the "war room", you will need to erase your previous game.
Although, you can save in the 'versus', save in the 'war room' and in the 'story' independently of each other.
--You can end up in a stale mate situation while playing against the computer.
I know this because for the last 3 hours I have been playing on a map where there are two islands and a neck of land connecting them. On this neck, my battleships have been bombarding any expensive computer units crazy enough to drive on it, and all of my units that I've tried to advance on the neck were wiped out by the computers rocket artillery. Meaning myself and the computer are both smart enough not to advance our artillery into harms way [because I tried it once, and the computer's rocket artillery wiped out one of my battleships], while we're too cautious to do anything disasterous, and we are trying painstakingly to advace our units on the neck--which doesn't do either of us much good.
Translation: stalemates like you never believed were possible can happen in this game. Like I've said, I only played one map, but that one map proves that stale mates can happen in this game and that they take a long time to solve.
If you don't like stalemate situations, then this game may not be for you. However, I only played one map so far, and this game gives a strong sense of WW2 type of strategy and a WW2 feel to it, even though helicopters are in the game. I thought the Typhoon Power would help the computer, and my Repair Power would help me, but we're still both stuck in a dead lock. So I just ended the game out of boredom. Also, you can only attack in 4 directions in a melee, not in 8.
I'm pretty sure that the Virtual Kasporov game that I've ordered will be a lot better than this, since atleast in chess you wont get into a never-ending tie.
But I've only played one map so far so I can't speak of its total virtues just yet. One good part about the game, is that you can learn the playing controls fairly easily. It was easy to just jump into the game and start playing, and I never did play the first Advanced Wars before.
Another good thing about this game, is that if you have time to spend waiting, this is the game to play to allow that time to go by fast.
I've decided to revise this post because I've played several other scenarios of AW2, and I've come to think of it as an excellent game to play. In fact, I like it better than my Virtual Kasparov, although I don't consider VK a bad game.
---The main reason AW2 is so good is because I've recently discovered that you can play (in the versus mode) against more than one computer player, and you can set up allies for the computer or for yourself, creating a whole series of different map variations.
I just want to add that playing with only one cartridge during a linkup makes for a very sad style of gameplay. There are basically no graphics in this type of two player configuration. And although you might get bored of the fighting graphics after a while, withought them the game play is just terrible.
How will you encourage your parents?

Well. The game is great. THe first one is addictive. But if you are young well, is your parent caring for you not to get violent games? If you look at the cover you see Nami holding a bazooka. Is that not violent enough for you? Well here is how to encouage them: First, tell them that you enjoy this game. Second, look at the rating, it is E, which means it is recomended for ages 6+, most of you are. Third, tell them you will pay for it (optional) Fourth, express the popularity of the game Fifth, show them the game(use someone's else or sumthing) Last: If they didn't get through all of that then beg and forget it...
Wonderful- A true Classic

This game was recommended by several of my friends. I had no idea what it was until I played it around eight times. I was instantly impressed. A wonderful game. I've beat it and Hard Mode on it. I've never seen anything like it. The four factions in the game could have better names though.
BEST GAME FOR GAME BOY YET!!!!

As you travel from continent to continent, you play as 12 CO's, including Andy and Max, and challenge Sturm in campain mode. In Waroom and Versus mode, you play as 19 Co's, to battle radom enemies. In other words, PLAY THIS GAME!!!!!

The first advance wars was amazing imagine how amazing this one will be. I have heard that it is coming out the 23rd not the 26th like they say. The neo tank is the best. There are new charecters and all the epople you defeated in the first advance wars are on you team but not sturm. My favorite is eagle.

This is truly a great game but I don't think it's as good as the first. also those of you who've played and beat the first one will probably find it rather easy, at first. The story isn't as good as the first and I liked the others interface better, also some CO powers r really cheap or rather useless. Also I don't particularly like the Idea of a super CO power. Though some redeming points are 9 more COs (counting Hachi and Nell), 1 new unit, 10 new terrain types, more maps, and better AI. I really like the game and would recomend it to anyone who likes strategy, but I'd rather recomend the origonal instead.
The best game boy game since Tetris!
