When I first played advance wars 1, I didn't know what to expect. But what I got was the best game for game boy advance. So then I had to get the second. I did and this is the best game for gba. This game is very challenging which makes it a great game. It has just this thing that makes it so fun. It may seem gay and all but trust me this game is the best. This is the most sold game for game boy advance. Im serious a lot of people got this game. And if you haven't bought this game or played it you got to dude.

Advance Wars 2: Black Hole rising is for your inner strategist that doesn't really enjoy being medivalitized. AW2's story line is simply: The evil Black Hole army is trying to take over the world again, and you play to stop them.
You begin as the Orange Star army, an "American stlye" army, then progressing to the Blue Moon army, the "Russians" we could say, then Yellow Commet, the Japanese fighters and then Green Earth, who unfortionately I have not gotten to play as yet, due to the fact I am still stuck on a few parts.
Anywahoot, Nintendo's AW2 section has done an exceptional job on this game, and can sometimes make the mission seem impossible, when all of the sudden after a week in-game time you realize the enemy's weak point, which you can exploit.
AW2 also brings new CO's, or Command Officers. These officers each have their weaknesess and streangths, each making a battle very complex. From people who specialize in Infantry, Air, Cheap Units, Streanth, Close Range, Nothing, Expensive units and more, each CO with their own Power and Super Power, which also effect the game. One of my favorite CO's from Yellow Commet (Sensei for those who are wondering who) is a former paratrooper and specializes in air. His special attack brings an Infantry unit appearing at every city you own and increases unit's attack power, while his Super Power brings a Mech unit, which is an Infantry unit with a rocket launcher, while further increasing the power of his units for one turn.
Advanced Wars also lets you fight your friends, either on teams or in a FFA. With link cables, other GBA's and other cartridges you can select your CO's to bring into battle. You can also trade data of Maps you make or have gotten with your Play Points.
AW2 also features a Map Designing feature, as in the original AW. This is a time suck, which is very good for long road trips or just to do in spare time.
Advanced wars is worth the money, as you can see, so go out and buy it!
A great sequel to a great game!

The first Advance Wars was an excellent game. While various other games wasted the GBA's potential, they bring it to its maximum in Advance Wars.
AW2 continues with the trend. It's still lots of fun and has lots of replayability. It also has new COs. My biggest complaint is the lack of new units: The only new one is the Neotank, which is basically a stronger form of the Md. Tank. I would've liked to see some more creativity there. Still, this is a really fun game, and I would reccomend it to ANYONE who liked the previous Advance Wars.

Not familiar with Advance Wars? There's a ton of reviews to get you acquainted with the basics, so I'll give a quick refresher.
-Fun campaign with a nice learning curve. At every step, the Campaign fills you in on exactly what you need to do and where you need to go. The execution is left completely up to you, allowing for maximum freedom in accomplishing your goals.
-Excellent multiplayer, where up to 4 players can hand off one system between turns (or use their own) and compete together. Add in Fog of War (parts of the map your units can't see are blacked out) and you have an intense but light-hearted wargame.
-Deceptively deep. Advance Wars takes well under an hour to learn and appreciate. For those who care to practice, the game has such a wealth of tactical options and minute details that it could take a lifetime to master. Your level of addiction is entirely up to you, and you're rewarded at each and every step.
-Lots of unlockable COs, maps, and modes, for the collector in you.
Personally, Advance Wars and its sequel are currently my favorite turn-based games (with the sequel in the lead only because there's a little stuff to play with). GameBoy, PC, board games... nothing else can compete.
If you own Advance Wars, this game only adds one measly unit- the Neotank (the biggest tank in the game). So what's there to enjoy? The continuation of the story, and the addition of a number of other elements (pipelines and factores and death rays that the Black Hole Army wants to use against you) along with CO Super Powers that are generally stronger the "first level" powers that are basically the same as they were in the first game, at the price of a little extra wait... if you liked Advance Wars one, two is the same game with some extras.
Should be a Great Game

Alright, let's have a history lesson. The first Advance Wars was a great game, if I should say so myself. It was both fun and addictive. If you don't believe me, go ahead and read the reviews that other people gave Advance Wars. There's a reason why so many people gave Advance Wars such a high rating: it gave a great sense of playing a real war while keeping it so that it isn't too violent, as well as being an educational video game. Quite an impressive break from all those shooters that have been emerging to the video game market. So, if Nintendo is adding on more details to the Advance Wars engine that's proven to provide stellar gameplay, what kind of cons could there be? Nintendo's making Advance Wars BETTER than ever, with more units, COs, terrain, and much more. Therefore, it's a no brainer; this game will be a good continuation to Advance Wars. I'm definately going to get this game as soon as it comes out!

Want to cut to the chase and start kicking butt? Drop the lame RPGs (the gameboy RPGs stink) and let the battles begin. There are tons of maps, more COs, improved enemies and special powers, and the campaign is tough but fun. You'll need your thinking cap for this one... the strategies seem simple until you get the snot beat out of you a few times, then you realize the subtle skills and tactics you need to fight your way to the top. I can play this one over and over and over and over and not get bored.

THIS GAME IS TOO DAMN HARD! Or maybe it's because I'm not very good at strategy games like these. Anywho this game is very challenging. I bought this game and I thought this would be a bad-ass game right? Wrong! The campaignhs are extremely diffcult to pass and I just barely beat the first level of blue moon island. The only things that I like about this game are the scenario builder and the multi-player mode. If you like strategy games buy this. If not steer clear of it.
What, no cannons?

First off, I'd like to say that, in MOST aspects, this game is FAR better than the first one. 8 new COs with great music for each, excellent map-screen graphics, less linear campaign, and a new unit make this game exceedingly fun. Basically, it's much more fun than the first. My gripe, however, comes with the map editor.
If you're like myself, you love toying around with the Map Editor in AW and AW2. You like setting up Campaign-like maps that provide quite the challenge. When I heard about the introductions of 4-way laser cannons, long-range cannons and short-range minicannons, impervious walls, missile silos, and unstoppable Death Rays, I thought what most people would think: Sweeeeet. I can use these in the map editor!
Unfortunately, it doesn't work this way. The pipelines (walls) and missile silos are the only terrains the player can take advantage of. No cannons, lasers, or death rays for you, only for the computer and only in Campaign Mode. You can blow these things up, but not capture them. I was looking forward to this, in addition to placing Black Hole units, which explains the dinged star.
Otherwise, though, this game is GREAT. BUY IT!

this game was Awsome to a certain extint because of its dificulty. I am a pro at rts's and strategy games. I have played WC3 and Starcraft plus the first advance wars and i have to say this is the hardest most frustrating game i have ever played. Now dont get me wrong i love the plot, graphics, multiplayer, characters and so on, BUT it took me soooo freakin long to finish the campaign that after i finished it i felt comppletely drained of energy that i didint play it for a while. But it also leaves you wanting more and the hard campaign satisfies your hunger for more, but a warning the hard campaign is ridiculously hard. VERY VERY VERY HARD. This game has a habit of making you mad to the point of quiting. BUT ALSO is a very addictive and fun game for a real strategy freak like myself and i would recomend it to anyone who likes strategy. Overall i have to say that i love the game so much and i seriously hope they make another one (because the ending hints there might be another one) so i leave you with this... If you buy this game you had better buy the strategy guide or you will have an extremelly hard time beating it...believe me.
Advance Wars 2: The Best Gameboy Game Ever

First of all, I wish to apologize. I am writing this review on my fathers laptop, and the keyboard is hard to use, so my spelling my not be the best.
Also, I will write AW2 instead of Advance Wars 2 because that title is to long.
Anyways, After someone stole my copy of AW2, I stopped playing my gameboy. Why? Because AW2 was better than all of my oher ames combined. It is a statagy game that lets you build different units from your ports (for sea units), air ports (for air units) and barracks (land units). You cn also capture cities, for funding, and launch devastating missiles from silos, not to mention all the lasers and volanos in the campain. The campain is very long, so you won't get bored very quickly. Plus, once you do finish thecampain, you can fight skirmishs and make your own maps.
The different COs and thier weakneses, strengths, and powers make for an interesting stratigic twist.
If you ever get bored of this game, I'll eat my ears. Really. It's that good.
