Just by looking at videos of this game makes it look great. It has a variety in players from serve and volleyers Tim Henman and Patrick Rafter to Baseliners in Yevgeny Kafelnikov and Carlos Moya. The only thing that I find puzzling about the game is that it has Alexandra Stevenson in it. Besides her one good year at Wimbledon, she hasn't done anything except search for media attention.

In my opinion, this is the best tennis game out there. The graphics are so realistic along with the players. The only thing I didn't like about this game was the fact that if you fail to win the last match, you've got to literally go through & rest for 51 weeks to get back to the match on the calendar. I thought that maybe there could have been a way to have done this. Other than that, I thought the game was great!

Hi averyone. I'm Pablo, a tennis fan from Spain and I'm so happy for having (next mounth, what a jealousy because of you, American people, who can joy this game now!) this product. Maybe it won't be perfect, what's perfect?, and althought there's not players like Sampras, Agassi, Steffi (why not? she could be a hidden player) or Martina (bouth), it is true that any tennis game before has become a game that approached so to reality like this one, above all in a sport like this, in which videogames have not done very much until last year with Virtua Tennis. I am sure it won't dissappoint us ¡Disfrutémoslo!

What a letdown...

This game has alot going for it on the surface. Unfortunately, it doesn't put it together and ends up being a rather flat package.

PLUS: Decent cast of players. Men's players are kind of blah (where is Agassi, Safin, Roddick, Hewitt???), but the ladies are well represented with the Williams sisters, Monica, and Lindsay. The graphics are incredible, and extra pains were takent to replicate the style of the players. Watching Lindsay serve in this game is like watching tape of her playing.

MINUS: The gameplay is shoddy and is NOT tennis. It is nearly impossible to hit a winner on any setting (other than easy, which is WAY TOO EASY!!!). When a fat, useless pig like Alexandra Stevenson can run down shot after shot off Lindsay or Venus' racquet, something is definitely wrong. Half the shots the computer players use are invented shots and physically impossible in the actual sport of tennis. Because of this, the game becomes an exercise in frustration.

A shame...I was hoping Sega can go out with a bang. Instead, barely a whimper.

WOW

I bought the Dreamcast for "lite" gaming, figuring it wouldn't distract me too much from "real" gaming on the PC. :-) However, now that I have Tony Hawk 2, Soul Calibur, and Tennis 2k2, I find myself spending less time on the PC. Actually, now that I have Tennis 2k2, I think Mr. Hawk and the sword swingers will be on vacation for a while.

The rest of the reviews here give a good sense of the details, so I won't dwell on those. I will say that I'm not a tennis player, I never played Virtua Tennis, I don't care if Agassi is included in the game or not, and I wasn't particularly interested in a tennis simulation. Seriously, people, do you train for tennis in real life by hitting robots and tanks (as you do in Tennis 2K2's training mini-games)? Come on...

Anyway, all that said, this game astounds. The gameplay is flat out amazing. You'll find yourself playing "just one... more... match" until your thumbs lock up. The graphics are terrific: motion capture is freakishly realistic, and the motion blur during replays adds a nice "hey, just like TV!" touch.

It's a polished piece of work that truly shows off the Dreamcast's capabilities. It also shows what a HUGE CRYING SHAME it is that the Dreamcast didn't fare better. More games like this could have kept it afloat longer.
