Fantastic Word Game

This is a wonderful game for the DS. I have been waiting and waiting for Bookworm to enter the market for DS so that we would have a challenging word game but low and behold WordJong came along first. It is very challenging and wonderful. The only drawback that I have found is in the challenges against the game itself you do see some foreign words every now and again but that happens very seldom. I am still hoping that Bookworm enters the realm of DS.

Addicting game!

I received a Nintendo DS and a few games for Christmas 2007 with "Word Jong" being one of them. Here it is ... the Spring of 2008 and I haven't even opened and tried some of the other games that I got!

I got hooked on THIS game and play it every day. I especially like the daily challenge and the temple challenge. Going against the virtual fellas in the battle challenge was fun, but higher up, they throw out some really wild (but, unfortunately, legal) words that I've never seen in my life!

I'm really enjoying this game and highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good, solid puzzle game.

Good Challenge!

I purchased this game to add to my DS collection of games and I love it. I like that it has a daily challenge mode that you can go back and play to improve your score. My husband tried it out and he was hooked on trying to beat the daily challenge scores. It is alot of fun and a good challenge as some of the selections you get are very hard to make words from.

I wish it had the capability to hold more than one profile though so my husband and I could play the temple challenge separately. Looks like I might have to get him his own DS!

Uses the Official SCRABBLE(R) Players Dictionary

I have both MahJong Quest and this game, WordJong.

WordJong is a well-designed game: hats off to Destineer, Gameblend Studios, and Magellen. The graphics look great, and there are small touches (for example, special colored tiles) that make this game special.

The screen resolution is noticeably better for this game than MahJong Quest; to be fair, though, more tiles needs to be displayed on the MahJong Quest screen.

The music is soothing (if you don't like it, you can always turn it off). The game enables you and your "real" opponent to decide on the amount of time to form words. There doesn't appear to be a time restriction on forming words when playing against the virtual opponents, however.

One important thing to know about WordJong is that it appears to use _The Offical SCRABBLE(R) Players Dictionary_ as its source for playable words.

Therefore, you might be surprised as you battle the tougher virtual opponents to see them use quirky SCRABBLE(R) words like

xu
ka
jo
ai
qanat
qat
qoph

If you'd rather play using a standard dictionary's lexicon (I personally don't mind the SCRABBLE(R) dictionary words, that option is not available.

And that's about the only suggestion I have for the game's designers -- perhaps version 2.0 could enable users to choose between the SCRABBLE(R) dictionary or another "everyday" dictionary. I'd recommend _Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary,_ or none at all.

Another fact(oid) about this game is that when you play Temple Challenge, points don't appear to be awarded for games in which you don't use all of the letters. For example, if you leave unused letters "behind," you can begin a new game, but points do not seem to be added to your score until you complete unfinished games (which means using ALL of the tiles...not always an easy task).

Again, a great game that with just a few minor improvements could be sublime. As some others have said, think of SCRABBLE(R) or BOGGLE(R), but better!

A must have for "word junkies." It's a cross between Scrabble and Mahjongg. Great to build vocabulary.

This is so addictive. Great game. If you like Wordjong, Scrabble, and/or Bookworm...you will love this one. It is challanging, fun, and reasonable. You even earn hidden butterfly stamps based on the different challanging things that you complete using all of the different modes. What a value and Ohhhh so much fun. I love it and if you are a word game junkie...you will too.

Great choice!

Great choice for the word wiz! Dictionary could be a bit broader and I would love the ability to change the graphics. But overall, a very satisfying game. I can spend hours playing this one!

This game lived up to it PR. I like Marjong very much. Do not play scrabble, but that feature is what makes this game challeging. Everyone who does like Marjong and scrabble-like games will like this game.

One of my favorites!

I bought this game hoping that I wouldn't be too disappointed. I hate coming home with a DS game only to pop it in my system for 2 minutes and decide I hate it. Off it goes to the Ebay world. Not so with this game. I had never played Mahjong before, but now I know I want that game too! This game has a few different levels that will keep gamers entertained for quite some time. You can't beat the price, especially if you buy it used. My favorite part of the game right now is the battle section. I've unlocked Boaris, but I can't beat him yet! And he is only the 3rd person out of 8!! If you like Scrabble or are a word and English junkie, this is a must have game for you. My only complaint is that it seems that they use the Scrabble dictionary and that is difficult at times. What kind of word is qua? I have no idea, but it's a word in this game! Sometimes you just have to guess. Especially when you are playing battle mode. Overall, a great addition to the DS collection!

This is a great game for those who love word puzzles. It is very addicting. If you like scrabble blast or games like it, you will love this.

I only give it 4 stars because I think it could have more. It could offer more puzzles.
