Lost in the blizzard

1 Rating: 1, Useful: 11 / 13

Like many others, I was playing the game and everything was going swimmingly until--uh oh. There I was in a sea of white. The blizzard.
I have managed to finish about half of the game by constantly saving and loading, but this is tedious and infuriating. If Adventure Company expects to ever receive any of my business again, they will heartily apologize to the people who have shelled out $30 for a game that doesn't work, admit that the glitch is their fault, not our fault (it's ridiculous to claim that a glitch so widespread is due to all of our computers instead of the game itself), and they will develop a patch SOON.
So far they have done none of these things, and it doesn't look particularly hopeful. I enjoyed the other two Agatha Christie games, but Evil Under the Sun is shaping up to be my last.
If you are considering buying this game, either wait until a patch surfaces or look for a different game entirely.

Along with so many others - I too am stuck with a useless game. While my computer does fulfill all the minimum requirements - Dreamcatcher states that since my 8 month old laptop has an integrated videocard (like so many other laptops) - my computer is not good enough - even though it is DirectX compatible with 64mg of video memory. So, like others, I am out $30. Don't waste your money unless your computer is less than one month old.

Oops.

Yes, there seems to be a glitch in this game. It was fun while it lasted, but I had the same problem everyone else had. My screen went white as well. Oh well, I'll just try another game. It is NOT my computer.

Like others that bought this game I am encountering a white screen after playing for a few minutes. I am very disappointed because I have enjoyed the other two games in the series. I wrote to the company about this problem and have received no reply. I will not be buying from this company again unless they develop a patch that fixes this problem.

A patch that works

I previously gave this game low marks for the whiteout issue . . . I truly don't feel the general game specifications on the box precluded using the game on a computer with an integrated graphics chipset. Anyway, I recently downloaded the patch from the manufacturer's website (beware: they don't exactly identify what the patch is supposed to fix), and I'm happy to say I never had another whiteout, even with my "basic" computer. It's a good game, too. I do feel that Poirot spends a little too much time walking (it would be so much better if you could click on an island map to get him to a different location), but, overall, they capture the feeling of the book, gave the gamer some good puzzles to solve, and offered up some lovely visuals and music. Lots of fun and I'll play it again. Sorry I'm unable to upgrade the amount of stars for this review!

I knew something was drastically wrong when I found the master key for the hotel rooms before I finished Act 3. It was dangling from the hallway ceiling near Linda's Room. After that, I uninstalled the game and called it quits.

I wish that I could have played this game for more than 7 minutes without my computer rebooting with an error message. A white screen would have been welcome.

Contrary to other reviewers, having an excellent driver or an excellent graphics card did nothing to help me.

I am very disappointed. I own both of the earlier games for PC (Murder on the Orient Express, And Then There Were None) and never experienced a problem this severe with either of them.

Caveat Emptor!!!

Additional note. I gave this game to a friend at work. She took Mr.Anderson's advice and downloaded the "patch" for the game and was so pleased with the patch's ability to stave off the white screen and reboots that the game is currently in a landfill somewhere in PA.

Selfish game companys

I'm sure this game would be very enjoyable if the game company was not so selfish and money hungry that they wouldn't do something to protect their good name. The other two games were fantastic and this problem with the white screen is so infuriating I'm tempted to let them know that many people will never trust them to make a good game ever again. I probably would do it if I felt eloquent enough. I would love to be able to ply this gme I BOUGHT AND PAID FOR. If only they would make a patch, I'm sure it would take very little resorces and would result in very many satisfied customers.

Waste Of Money

After a hard week I was looking forward to relaxing with the new Agatha Christie game, "Evil Under The Sun". It started out terrific. But then I got this "white screen of death". Maybe just a computer glitch. Nope! After numerous retrys, reloading, and resetting video I discovered on the net that many folks are having the same problem. Adventure Company claims its our computer's video deficiency! Wrong. I have a 3 month old new Gateway with a system that exceeds the requirements of the game. Apparently the company just blows that off. Don't waste your money on a product with this type of bug in it.

A Big Disappointment

When I read the review of this game that stated if you liked the game "And Then There Were None", you would love this game, I decided to give it a try. I really enjoyed "And Then There Were None". I did not like Murder on the Orient Express, but what the heck - there have been other games that I have not enjoyed.

"Evil Under the Sun" drove me nuts. The main character, Hercule Poirot, had this stupid shuffle walk that I found extremely irritating. Also I don't like a lot of dialogue and there is way too much for me in this game. I finally took it out of my computer, put it back in its box and on the shelf.

So I give this game 1/2 a star.

I got this game at Target the other day, and started to play it when I got home. I thought it was really fun until the screen turned all white and I couldn't play anymore. I took it back to Target and got another one. Same thing happened. I took it to a relative's house and tried it on her computer. Same thing. I took that one back and went to another store and tried it again. Same thing happened. Finally emailed the company and they said it was my computer, which doesn't make sense because I tried it on two different computers (both XP). If anyone has had this problem and has a solution, please tell me.
