Bought this to get my wife a little more enthusiastic about my Xbox; She was getting a little annoyed with the time spent playing COD 4. Must say this game is fun and a good work out.

Nice workout indeed!

After reading a story that one girl lost 95 pounds by playing this game, I was a bit skeptical, but I believe it now. I think it beats the treadmill workouts. After 30 minutes on Power Mode(6 minute fast tempo tracks,) I literally drench in sweat. It really is a good cardio workout. I dont think I ever sweat like this during treadmill workout, but then again, nobody really does any aerobic movements while running on a straight conveyor belt.

While this shouldnt replace your gym workouts, it is certainly a good alternative once or twice a week. Think of it as drinking orange juice as opose to eating an actual orange: While orange juice will give you Vitamin C, it shouldnt fully replace your fruit intake.

Some tips for beginners: Do not place the mat on the carpet as it will gradually move underneath you and will cause you to step on wrong controls after a while. The bottom of the mat is slightly-rubberized and made to stand on non-carpet sufaces. Also, if you are new, go straight to the training mode of the game...seriously.

Weak visuals compromise the game

Pros: It's DDR. It has a lot of new songs, and a lot of new game modes too.

Cons: Inefficient use of screen real estate, especially if you have a 4:3 set, where it letterboxes. The arrows are small, and the "PERFECT", "GREAT", etc. text that appears when you take a step is waaaay too big--it hides a whole row of arrows near the top.

Great Game, Great Workout!

I bought the XBOX 360 and this game for the sole purpose of using it as a workout routine. As a 35-year old woman, it's probably the best investment in my health that I've made yet (and far better than the money I threw at gym memberships). I get a great workout everyday in the comfort of my living room and have a blast doing it! Graphics are great. Song choices are great (I find myself singing them during the day). Workout mode lets you track steps and calories burned. I've been dropping weight/sizes since I started this new routine. I LOVE this game!

Very Frustrating

I bought this game so my younger brothers and I could get some exercise this winter. I thought it would be fun, and it was at first. When we tried to move from the beginner mode to the next mode up, basic, we were surprised to find it extremely difficult. We're at the point where beginner is way too easy and boring, but basic is SO HARD. It's is extremely frustrating. It doesn't increase the difficulty gradually like in other interactive games (i.e. Guitar Hero), it just goes from boring to frustrating with no happy medium. And the songs really aren't that great either. All in all I am pretty disappointed by this game. It could have been a lot better.

A fun way to get exercise!

I am new to this kind of game, so I am still getting used to it. But this sure is an addictive way to get exercise. The only problem I've had has been with the mat which tends to slip and bunch up a great deal on our thick carpet. After experimenting with a slip-proof pad for a throw rug and two-sided carpet tape (not much help) I hit on the idea of putting a chairmat (like those used under a rolling office chair) under the mat. I purchased an "ulta durable" one with "AnchorBar technology" from Staples (not the bargain-price kind that can be rolled up) and this has made a tremendous difference. No more slipping!

Game Delivers

I am new to DDR world. I think I played it in the arcade many years ago. I am terrilbly out of shape after three kids in 2 1/2 years, and have had a blast trying to get back in to shape with this game. The music is fun--a good mix of familiar and new. The game really goes at your pace. Jumping ahead I can see that I have some serious work to do before getting through the game--but I am in no hurry to beat it all in a day or anything. I really wanted this thing to last as an alternative fun exercise, and it is doing just that. After the reviews I read, I had worries about the pad. I really have had no trouble with the pad that came with the game. I am on carpet though. After a few dances it needs to be readjusted some--so you are sure to hit the right spots--but no big deal. It is all that I wanted and expected.

Fun on a rainy day

I'm a big fan of DDR on any console.

with the 360 its a big difference, but once you get used to it, its fun to play. the whole quest mode thing is fun, and it takes a lot of energy to do some of these things.

as differing from PS2 is the fact that the pad for the 360 is thicker, and slightly less cooperative sometimes, but you get used to it after awhile.

overall, 9.9 out of ten stars.

Excellent Way To Sharpen Mind and Body While Having A Blast!

Dance Dance Revolution Universe 2... Not typically my first choice with video games (c'mon CALL OF DUTY 4! Am I right?? : ) However, it is coincidentally one of the most addictive, most competitive, most challenging games I've ever played. At first it's kind of tough, (how can anyone possibly hit all of these arrows at the same time? lol). However after you have learned what you need to know, you'll find a fever comes over you to play more and more. Hitting those blinking arrows at just the right time becomes a feverish competition.... and even better: you burn hundreds of calories while playing for just a few hours.
What can I say, a monumental gaming experience!

Great fun!

Got this for our son for Christmas and I think I'm enjoying it more than he does!! Fantastic exercise. I can see it's going to take a lot of practice before I'll advance beyond the basic level! Glad we got it -- so much better than sitting and playing a game!!
