so.. first off the first thing you'll notice about mr. mosquito is its strange sense of humor. after all, this is a japanese game.. the country who brought us katamari damacy! so i like that.
you fly around and have to suck blood from "hot spots" located on various parts of people's bodies. once you get the control scheme down, this is a fairly easy affair, and it's fun. the problem is, as some others have said, mr. mosquito quickly becomes repetitive and loses its quirky, fun appeal.
pros: graphics are pretty good for a PS2 game, it's fun to fly your mosquito around (and i don't even like flying games), you can turn off lights and turn on radios and see how the people get up and respond to that confusion.. quite unique idea, especially when you factor in things like the girl in the bathtub trying to shoo you away with her hair dryer.
cons: no controls tutorial (have to learn them yourself), quickly loses its unique appeal, cutscenes of the family talking before the level are boring, load times are too long
but overall the thing that made me put this game down and stop playing was a level where i couldn't find the "hot spot" on a girl. i kept thinking i saw it on her neck and then i'd get closer to her and it would disappear. maybe i was mistaken and seeing the light switch behind her.. but i have a low tolerance for frustration in games.
bottom line: this may or may not be worth a rental for you. gamefly has this game in stock, if you're a member. but i wouldn't spend much money on it.

I rented this game a while back because of it's innovative idea. Control a mosquito, suck blood from members of a family of three, and stay alive through the summer.
Each level has you in a room with one member of the family, and has selected certain parts of their body for you to get a select amount of blood from. You have to be careful not to be spotted, or they'll swat you and strike you dead. Also, many of the levels feature obstacles like mosquito repellant and candles you have to watch out for.
But the problem is, that's the entire game. About twelve levels like this, (some of which will take many tries) that will only last you about two or three days at most.
The graphics are poor, the execution is strictly alright, so all in all, this game is nothing more than an interesting concept. Not really even worth a look, even for fans of weird games.
Hmm...

I liked the fact that someone came up with such a unique idea for a game. I played some in Japan, though and wasn't too impressed. I guess it just takes way more patience than I have to focus on this game. Definately not for people who like deep, involved games and lots of excitement.
Good for a quick laugh

This game is one of the most original concepts for a game that I have seen. However, it is extremely short. My friends and I rented a copy because we all wanted to try it... we beat it in a night. We had a good time playing it and making jokes about the "plot". But we were all let down by how quickly the last level came.
We all agreed it was a decent game... just short. I wouldn't pay too much for this game. Wait around and buy it used for around $...
Very Original Idea That Quickly Gets Repetitive

Being a huge fan of games like "Typing of the Dead," "Crazy Taxi, and other out of the ordinary games that Sega was releasing for Dreamcast, (and still does for other platforms, only to a lesser extent it seems) I was interested in Mister Mosquito after I read some reviews in various publications. Finally, I rented it, and was pleased to diescover that it has one of the strangest premices for a videogame in a long time.
You play as, (you guessed it) a mosquito who has taken residence in a family of three's home, and has to stay alive by sucking their blood on a regular basis. The risk with sucking thier blood, of course, is that if you irritate them, and they notice you they'll either swat you, immediately killing you, or they'll want to battle you, and th only way to calm them down then is by flying into "relaxation points" on their body.
While, for fans of games that offer something new and different, this game quickly gets repetitive, and you may find yourself losing interest.
So my advice is to support this kind of game by going out and giving Mister Mosquito a rental. It is the perfect game for a five night rental.
its not just the mosquito that is bad

THE GOOD:
Not really anything good but the game is really original. It's kind of cool sucking blood. The mosquito looks fly.
THE BAD:
So many problems with the game it's tough to chose where to start. The controls are hard to get used to. Rotating the right control stick to suck blood gets is annoying because any button you press will cause it to stop and if you have big hands it happens a few times. The characters a poorly designed I'm sure that one bath scene is what lured you to want to get this game but once you see her face well I don't think you would want any of that, also the other family members look just as messed up.The battle type is really stupid and because of the bad camera angles is hard to master. The levels are super small. But most likly its largest problem is the fact that it's to repetitive the characters do the same thing over and over and over and over.
SUMMARY:
Over all a bad game. It may be fun and cool the first 30min but you'll get tired of it fast so my recondmondation is rent it from a video rental store or friend.

THis game is but a simple one. YOu are Mr. Mosquito and your job is to s survive. TO do this you live with the Yamata Family and drain their blood. THis game is seperated into levels and in each you fly around find the target and strike. However if spotted you go into battle mode where you must strike specific points to get them to relax.
THis game is sinmple and recommended to anyone with a sense of humor.
