OVER THE TOP GORE AND FUN!!

I bought this game for the PS2 after reading the good reviews on various websites. I am not dissapointed. If you are looking for an action game with a ridiculous amount of gore and violence while retaining quality gameplay, this is your game. The premise for the game is you are a half-vampire,half-human hired by a secret society to go after a Nazi cult that is hell bent on using the supernatural to obtain power. Ha! Sounding pretty over-the-top yet? Well, that action sequences in the game make it even more so. This is definately a game you wanna play with the kiddies asleep. Enemies get shredded and disembowled as your main charachter wreaks havoc. Limbs and heads will roll, blood spewing profously. In addition to the extreme violence, there is also a vast amount cleavage shots from the camera (this game obviously designed by some horny gaming geeks). I laughed most of these sequences off because they are just so blatantly unecessary. As far as gameplay itself, Bloodrayne is right up there with the best of them. Expect TONS of action; sometimes too much action. While the initial missions are slow to enable you to get the controls down, they bring on the heat as soon as the story begins to eveolve. I found myself loading a few times and being a little less gung-ho the next time around. Weapon choices are vast and seem to actually coincide with the time-period (no giant laser cannons in a post WWII setting.) The main charachter also learns combo moves as you progress, keeping the gameplay varied. The game controls themselves were nicely designed. You have a few variations available to you in the options menu. They also give you control of the camera which is very handy though I did find that in tight spaces it had some quirks. The graphics are quite nice. Levels have a great amount of texturing and detail. You may enjoy the dynamics done on the main charachter as they are quite realistic. There is a brightness control in the menu as well but I didn't see a big need for it as there weren't any dark spaces where you could'nt see objects in reasonable lighting. The sound is where the game dropped from a five to a four with me. While the soundtrack is a nice semi-techno beat that is sequenced with the game and the sound effects are fairly realistic, the overall dynamic set-up is kind of weak. It seems they coulda had much more is the way of ambient effects. There were a few scenes with nice surround detailing but they were far and few between. In addition, what's with the lack of 5.1?!? Come on people, get into the 21st century. In closing, it is a great game with few minor flaws. If you are a conservative parent or just a squeamish gamer, I'd stay far away from this one. Otherwise jump right in for an all out gore fest of fun!

When I first bought this game I tought it was gonna be like the DMC series, but then I played and got surprised how the grapics were like,this game is about a girl who was apprehended in europe after carving a path of destruction trying to track down and kill her biological father.The girl's name you know it and she claimed the people she killed, and it all start from here.

The game got revolutionary control:target multiple enemies with each hand simultaneously.Special abilities:suck blood for healt.Use slo-mo,zoom and aura visions.Fantastic acrobatic moves bend the enviroment to your will.
Battle nazis,mutants,swamp creatures, and ancient parasitic monsters

This game is pretty cool if you're a fan of vampires. I'm one of them, OBSEST with them almost. This game is really cool, Rayne kicks butt! All the variety of weapons and moves. It's one game you definattly don't want to play at night in a dark room if you're weak at heart and scare easily. Hehe i can be at times. This game has a gothic look too it which makes it so cool. Love the voices, specially since two are the voice actors of my favorite anime Dragonball Z. It's a definite buy as i've said if you're into vampires and blood and gore and all that good stuff in video games. I rated it three stars for the moment cause I just got it and haven't got used to the controls and way of moving just yet. This game kicks [butt]!!

I was looking for a cool game to pass the time, and stumbled upon this little gem. Although the opening of the description on the back made me worry a little ("Half human. Half vampire. All woman." Ah, it's *that* type of game...), I decided to give it a shot anyway.

Boy, am I glad I did! Sure, the main character's got sex appeal, and they're not gonna let you forget that, but even if you took that away, you'd have a solid game left over. The action sequences (and there are a lot of action sequences) are top notch. The levels look good and are pretty large. If you like gore and terror, you'll enjoy what Rayne can do to her enemies. And there's just something kinda cool about dropping down out of the shadows, grabbing a Nazi, sucking his blood while using him to block bullets, and shooting enemies over his shoulders.

I do have a few complaints--I'd actually like to give this 4.5 stars--but nothing major. The sound could use some work (as noted by the previous reviewer), although it's pretty good. Sometimes it's a little tough to figure out what exactly you're supposed to do. I would've appreciated a higher degree of customizability for the controls. And the play balance is a little off: regular enemies are very easy, but the bosses can be ridiculously hard.

As was noted, this is not a game for children or conservatives. There's a lot of blood, and some sensual elements. But if those won't bother you, and you're looking for a good challenge, try this out.

Essence of cool

From playing this game one word comes to mind. 'Cool'

It sounds silly, but that really is the best word to describe it. The whole way the game plays, it has graphical effects that must be inspired by the movie 'The Matrix'. Simply stunning.

Its pretty different to what I expected, and its very graphic in places. But the game is just so pleasing to play. Not perfect, but very, very nice.

I've always hated the fact that even in some of my favorite games, a dead opponent disappears. NOT in Bloodrayne.
I've always wondered why some games get a "mature" rating, when there is hardly a reason for that rating. NOT in Bloodrayne.
Finally,
I've always felt my money was wasted on games that don't live up to the hype. DEFINITELY NOT in Bloodrayne.
Kick the kiddies out of the house and carve yourself some bloodthirsty fun!

For all of the gamers...the game control is difficult to grasp. The graphics are pretty good for the most part. Gameplay is kinda of weak because of how easy it is to just take out opposing characters.

Now the core of my review: This game is dark! I've played other games that some would deem pretty creepy. This game traverses the line into extreme GOTHIC. The mind from which this game spawned from is more than likely steep into the occult. I would strongly caution parents away from this game. I would urge anyone considering this game to do so with complete scrutiny. You have to be free of much moral character to appreciate a game this evil.

A friend of mine had industry reviews of the game stating that Marilyn Manson had a part in the games development. CAUTION! That it and of itself should be reason to stay clear of this game.

Luckily, I rented the game, thinking it held a driven story and fast-action gameplay. I played it for 10 minutes and returned it after that.

This game is soooo much fun!! I love everything about it!The bloody gore,fighting nazis,a sexy vampire chick;You just can't go wrong with all of these great things combined! The only minor problem that players may experience at first is the controls; they feel a bit awkward at first,but they become second nature fairly quick.The game allows you to play in first or third control;I myself find third the easiest.

The other great thing about this game is the fact that it's still alot of fun to play even after beating it(make sure you let the credits roll for the last cinema!) The excellent graphics,techno-sih type music in nazi areas,and great voice acting give this game bonus points as well(you can't beat the fact that Rayne says the F word!)

I also love Rayne,who I find absolutely gorgeous!(what guy wouldn't?) Her attitude is great too,which is esp. shown in two scenes.1,the catfight with the female nazi "butcheress" and 2, the encounter with the doppleganger twins and how they flirt and fight back and forth!Let's face it,she could kick lara croft's annoying self any day of the week!!

In conclusion,BUY THIS GAME!

Rayne is AWESOME!!!

She is like Lara Croft of Tomb Raider turned into a vampire! I love this game! You can choose the way your controls are (traditonal 3rd person or 1st person/more control.) The graphics are great, the cinematics are great, and Rayne is fun to move around. The levels are fun, but you do end up doing a lot of running around looking for a way out or an object that you need to move on to the next levels. The bosses can be very hard at times, maybe next to impossible without cheat codes... If you like Tomb Raider, Soul Reaver series, and Syphon Filter, you should enjoy BloodRayne.

Hello,I am going to tell you about an asome game no forget that the best game.This is bloodrayne.Bloodrayne is so asome it is like the matrix.You can do it all from slowmo to push off wall doing spins and cuting off heads enemy nazi heads.I love all the wepons.If you liked Max Payne this is even better and if you like long games this very long from about 13 to 30 Hours.
