Me and my buddy are HUGE Simpsons Fans, but we were very dissapointed in this game. We drove all over town looking for a copy and when we played it at home we were more bored than excited. It's not so much as it being hard, but just irritating to accomplish the brain-dead tasks needed. While playing the Single Player mode your constantly having to switch characters to unlock hidden doors and fight enemies which is more annoying than fun. In CO-OP mode you are more accessible to getting separated in each map due to not having a radar available. The special powers that each character possess donot make any sense, for example bart doesn't fly, but fall slower than usual and we couldn't figure out how to kill any enemies as Big Homer. The Bonus games are difficult and confusing, while the Bosses are EXTREMELY easy to defeat and all of the tasks needed are just plain retarded. If you want to know should I buy this game "Yes/No" then donot buy this game, but if you're still curious I recommend that you rent this games before you buy it.

At the risk of being labeled an angst ridden teen by an over sensitive fan boy, I must concede that I'm almost 30. I have been a Simpsons fan since day one and was overly excited to have the Simpsons come to the Wii platform. As a fan of the Simpsons I was enticed by the idea of 37 clips of new Simpsons animation, it wasn't worth it. I was also enticed by the fact that the actual actors of the show provided the voices, again, it wasn't worth my 50 bucks.
Not to ruin the game for anyone that will be so inclined to buy or rent this game, but play the game on mute if you wish to play it. The amount of times that the stupid catch phrases are repeated through out the game are annoying enough to cause you to want to put your Wii-mote through your TV. That brings up another topic, the controls and the camera views are so horrible that you will die repeatedly just trying to do simple things like jumping and walking.
In all the time I have been a fan of the Simpsons I have never come across a Simpsons product that has disapointed, until now. This game sucks. For EA to put out such a crappy product is sad. For Matt Groening to allow his brain child to be subjected to such a humiliating treatment is proof that he isn't paying attention to his creation anymore.
THIS GAME IS PITIFUL. DON'T BUY IT, DON'T SUPPORT CRAPPY PRODUCTS.
Not for the Wii (if at all, that is...)

This may work on a more traditional platform with more traditional controls, but after more than an hour of trying to time a SINGLE MOVE exactly right, I gave up - and I was only on the second stage. The Wii is known as a platform for more casual gamers who want a different level of physical interactivity, not hardcore gamers who want to spend hours figuring out the right timing and combination of joystick/button presses.
Aside from the fact that this is simply not the platform for this game, the game itself has the most annoying camera movement and controls I've ever seen. I'm also a huge Simpsons fan, but by the time I quit, I absolutely wanted to strangle my formerly beloved voiceover actors. Get stuck on a move like I was, and you'll be treated to an endless loop of the same spectacularly unfunny lines. Though I enjoy watching The Simpsons two or three times a day as it's aired, I don't know if I can watch the show for a day or two now - that's how obnoxious it becomes.
The Lego Star Wars games provide similar gameplay, but are far more intuitive, less irritating, and more overall fun.
Since this Simpsons fan of almost two decades found it a tedious and annoying experience, I'd say it's another unfortunate nail in the coffin of The Simpsons franchise, along with the steady decline in the writing of the series. What it really boils down to is that this game lacks any real fun for us old-school fans, who don't live chained to a game console.
If you like the show, watch it or the recent movie. If you like this kind of game, Lego Star Wars is far, far superior in every way.
Thank god I only rented this one, I almost bought it blind.
Nice try, but ultimately an unsatisfying experience

I've been keeping an eye on the development of this game and I was really looking forward to its release. Now that I've had the chance to sit down and play it, I'm afraid it wasn't anything like I thought it would be.
Before I go into any negatives, I will say that the script/spoken dialog in the game is hilarious and features the original cast voices. The character animation is also done nicely. Unfortunately, that is where the positive comments end. The play control is a disaster. It was difficult to control the various special moves for each character and camera tracking was horrible. You can manually reposition the view point being shown, however I found myself constantly needing to do so in order to make my way through the levels. Overall, it just felt like I wasn't in control of the character and often times it was very frustrating trying to jump from platform to platform only to fall down and have to start a tedious process of getting back to where I was at all over again. The constant need to switch between characters became annoying as well. I really, really wanted to love this game, but I am so disappointed. I'm also really upset that I actually paid full price for this title as well. If this was $19.99 I wouldn't feel so burned right now.
[UPDATED] - Not as terrible as I thought.

[UPDATE**] - Ive played this title a bit more over the long weekend, and while the controls are still less than ideal, it is actually a fun title. Mario Galaxy is still far more fun to play... but the multiplayer option in this game is nice. However, the gameplay is still quite akward, even with 2 players. I will keep this game, and I am sure I will finish it one day.... but who knows when
[Original review]:Let me start by stating that I am a long-time gamer, and a die-hard Simpsons fan. I have played every other Simpsons game to date, and have to admit that this one dissapointed me the most. First, the good:
*The animation (cut scenes and gameplay) is great. You really feel immersed in an Simpsons episode. The game dialog and situations are funny and classic simpsons.
*Co-op mode was a good idea. If it wasn't for the negative aspects of this game, this would have really shined.
Now... for the bad.
**The control schema for this game is BEYOND AWEFUL!! The camera is difficult to reposition, the character movement is difficult. In no time, I have a headache and am completely disgusted with playing this title! This really ruined the game for me. I died 9 times just trying to jump from donught to donught in the tutorial level! Sad. Perhaps the worst control schema I have seen on any wii game (and I have seen some pretty bogus ones!)
**WHAT!? No online co-op? I think they really blew it not allowing you to choose an online partner to play the co-op mode. I mean, its not like my wife is gonna sit down and play with me, right? Seriously, any 2+ player game these days should be online compatible. Tsk tsk.
Other than that, nothing else to say about this game. In all seriousness, if the controls werent so horrid, I could have beared playing this game further. But, now that I have Mario Galaxy and Mario/Sonic at the Olympics, why bother? Save your money.... Mario Galaxy is AWESOME... and the controls are NIIIICE! HTH!

I picked up The Simpsons off an Amazon Goldbox deal for $25, hoping that it would live up to my expectations. While the comedy put into it by the writers and cast is superb, the game itself is another matter. Remember how graphics looked back in the late 90's? When 3D was still relatively new but anti-aliasing hadn't taken off yet? That's where this game dates visually. The "jaggies" are EVERYWHERE (again, this applies to the Wii version).
If you have to play a platformer on the Wii, do yourself a favor and pickup either Super Mario Galaxy or Lego Star Wars. You can thank me later. ;)
Should have been so much better...

I rented this game. I'm so glad I didn't buy it. The camera never seems to be where you want it to be. The "hidden packages" are supremely pointless. The super powers vary from underwhelming to annoying. (Marge's bullhorn is one of the most irritating things I've ever heard.) The cut scenes are entertaining.
I stopped playing in the middle of a level, because the game just isn't held together well. And I'm returning it with no intention of ever playing it agin or recommending it to anyone. Parts of it are okay, but it's just not worth it.
Ouch my eyes

If you are buying or playing this game you had better LOVE the Simpsons in general. The game play is rough at best with th ecamera shifting all around. The animated sceens look spectacular however once game play starts the visuals decline big time. It's the same run around and punch with Homer for 2 levels and that's when I just quit. I couldn't waste anymore time on a game that was this unappealing. We tried the 2 player split screen but that just enhanced the short-comings of the camera. I would not recommend. The lone bright spot was the funny one-liners that homer and family spits out randomly.
Not quite what you would expect...

I have watched The Simpsons for many years, and was looking forward to playing this game. However, it wasn't quite what I expected. The gameplay was boring and easy; thought bubbles tell you when you need to switch characters and little lights basically let you know where you need to go to advance the story. Enemies are too easy to defeat, and this game lacks any real challange. I would say it was designed for children, except that it has some adult jokes and references in it.
The animation is fantastic, as are the sound and music. The dialogue is is entertaining, and sometimes it makes you feel as though you are watching the show. There are also many inside jokes and references that fans of the show will enjoy.
A good game to rent if you are bored, but you probably don't want to waste more than $29.00 on it, if you buy it.
many good points but execution falls down

I am a relatively new gamer, but a HUGE Simpson's fan and so was very excited about this game. I tried it out, and while it is way cool that they got the real voice actors to do the voices for the characters and the in between videos, and the graphics are also really cool (the characters look almost exactly like they do in the show); I was very disappointed. The main problem is that the game play is extremely difficult. To be clear, it isn't that the game itself is hard, but rather that the camera angle makes it really hard and extremely frustrating to play the game: it seems to always be in the wrong place. Another flaw (from a Wii perspective) is there is very little use of the Wii remotes capabilities. The later is forgivable given that it is a multi-platform game, but the previous is not forgivable (especially from someone like EA), if they had the camera placed correctly the game would be far less frustrating and much more enjoyable.
In short I am glad I was able to try the game out and not have to buy it. It might be worth it to me (for the Simpson's value alone) if the game was $20 dollars or so.
