i think this is one of the better nancy drew games and i have played them all and the next one is called the phantom of venice!

Morose themes ruined it for us..

First off we have LOVED all the other Nancy Drew's we have played. This game seemed intentionally created darkly... as if they're trying to steer us as an audience that way. Waaaay too many eyeballs! and creepiness for me and my 11 year old. I did and didn't like the new format for your items. I like the new list of suspects, but I liked the to look at my viewable items and portable items separately as in past games. Nancy seemed to talk less and give clues less this game than usual. Sorry, but sometimes it's just helpful for you to know what your doing or doing wrong. It was fun to trade places with Bess. Still, we stand by this rating.

FINALLY, HER Interactive listened to fans and made Nancy Drew fun again. Legend of the Crystal Skull was a vast improvement to the last two games. The graphics were great, setting was superb and the overall gameplay was fun.

The only reason I did not give the game 5 stars was because some of the puzzles' solutions were a little illogical and will probably only be solved by cheating (looking on a hint site) or just messing around with an object or everything in your inventory until the solution happens. However, at least the puzzles are not mundain tasks like in the past two Nancy Drew games.

This game may be a little dark and disturbing for younger children (10, 11), so if you're a parent, you may want to be cautious.

This is one of my favorite games in the Nancy Drew Series (I've played 'em all so far). The storyline was interesting, and this game seemed a lot less linear than some of the previous ones in that you could work on several puzzles at once, instead of trying to feel around for a "trigger" to get the game to allow you to move on to something else. In past games there were times when I knew what I had to do next but I had to run around trying to trigger the game to allow me to proceed. This game wasn't like that. Navigation was easy as always, and I enjoyed the mildly creepy feeling that it had, although I wouldn't want every game to be that way. As always I enjoyed the educational bits of the game as well. All of the eyeballs didn't bother me, it was neat to see what the next one was going to look like, however I can see how some people might be a big oogied out by all of the eyeballs.

I had to deduct 1 star for making me walk thorugh the graveyard so many times, it would have been nice to be able to view the model graveyard and click on the section I wanted to go to once I had explored the real one the first time around. Bess's movements could've been a bit less restricted as well, but all in all that wasn't too bad. I also thought the inventory was a little more difficult to use than what it had been in the past, but that wasn't a major detractor.

This is a fun game and is one of my favorites. I loved the atmosphere and the location of New Orleans. The house, cemetary and the garden were beautifully done.

The only 'problems' I had with the game (playing the junior detective) were that: one, at one point in the game I couldn't get any more help from Ned when I was stuck. I finished up a certain task, but he kept telling to me go do it. This is a glitch in the game as I heard others had the same problem. Two, the marble game was really annoying as it was really hard to control where the marble was going to go. and three, some of the tasks weren't explained very well and so for a while I was stuck and unable to figure out what to do or where to go (such as a point in the game where you have to fingerprint something and I couldn't figure out how to do it. I finally figured out to you had to look in the tools even though this character hadn't found and 'taken' anything like Nancy does so you know what you have). And fourth, I wish they'd had bess explore the french quarter a bit more becuase it has such great character!

Overall though, I really enjoyed the hours I played and am looking forward to playing again just for the atmosphere.

Great game for all ages.

I love all of the Nancy Drew PC Games, including this one. There are a lot of interesting puzzles that really make you think to get to the next phase of the game. The game can be a little spooky at times, but that just makes it more fun. It also teaches you some history of both the legendary crystal skulls and New Orleans.

Her Interactive has redeemed itself with this game. On the positive side, I enjoyed Bess' pluck, determination, and ingenuity -- and the fact that she had the opportunity to infilitrate a secret society (like Skull & Bones.) The game was well structured and interesting....and the graphics were superb. This game also drew from of the clever affects of previous games -- including overhearing private conversations from hidden passages/behind walls and being able to acquire info by spying on others from peep holes (think Blackmoor and Message in Haunted Mansion).

However, I found many of the puzzles in this game rather tedious (especially the marbles and wasps) which relied more on hand-eye coordination and mouse functionality than wit. I would have also appeciated more character development/interaction...and the plot, while interesting and well structured, still fell a bit flat. Would have been nice to have seen more of New Orleans as well.

It is a vast improvement to recent games. If you generally like Nancy Drew games, you will like this one too. Good, but not great.

Would not install - missing files on disks - NO GOOD!!

My daughter got the Nancy Drew game for Xmas and when I tried to install it, it would not install properly because it said it was looking for a file that did not exist on the install disk. I did a search on the disk for the file it was looking for and sure nuff, it was not on the disk....makes me think this is pirated software or something. Anyway this was a TOTAL WASTE of money...my daughter is upset and I am out 20 bucks.

Great Game - I Only Wish There Were More Places to Explore

In this latest installment of the Nancy Drew series you play both the legendary teen slueth Nancy Drew & her best friend Bess as you attempt to find out why you were blindsided and knocked out when checking in on one of Ned's friends who had just lost a family member - the uncle who "raised" him after his parents were killed when he was just a kid. Other than this favor for Ned, this trip was supposed to be a nice mini-vacation with Bess in the "Big Easy", but it hasn't turned out that way...

You realize early on that your "mishap" while visitng Ned's friend may be due to an ancient skull carved out of pure crystal that's said to have magical powers. Could this skull really exist? And, if it does, is it here in this mansion? In order to find out you'll have to:

*Explore the mansion, gardens & cemetary (the uncle was a caretaker)

*Have Bess snoop around near her hotel, and of course

*Solve various puzzles to unlock the clues to this mystery

Overall, I thought the graphics & storyline were really good. Some of the puzzles were quite challenging though, even on the Jr. Detective level, so I found myself consulting a walkthrough more than I would have liked. The main thing I didn't like about this game is that there aren't all that many places to explore - I felt like I was constantly in the same few places over & over again. However, even with this "downfall", I would still highly recommend Nancy Drew: Legend of the Crystal Skull to anyone who enjoys (or enjoyed as a kid) the Nancy Drew mysteries, as well as those who enjoy mystery/adventure games. These games can truly be enjoyed by both tweens/teens & adults alike!

One of the better Nancy Drew titles... and we have played em all!

Pretty much 'standard' Nancy Drew fare. My daughter and I played together and have completed every other Drew game. LOVED about 75% of it... the other 15% was painfully repetitive. A few areas had some seemingly needless repetitive walking back-and-forth to areas (to increase game duration?). That being said, I thought it had some good puzzles, was MUCH more fun than the last few, and had an enjoyable storyline. A worthy installment in the series!
