I hope its good...

A few months back, I saw a preview for Nosferatu. And while I was very excited by a new Dracula-oriented game, I felt a little disappointed. The graphics were the biggie. They looked BAD, and the gameplay didn't look to great either. I have not played Nosferatu yet, and I am debating if I will, but I hope this game is good. And I am still waiting for a great, revolutionary Dracula game, but that looks like it is going to be pretty far off the way things are going.

Quality and atmosphere.

The strongest point of this program is the 'classic horror movie' way they deliver it. The screens are purposely 'grainy' in order to create this eerie shadowy effect. Almost like catching a late night showing of the original 'Night of the living dead' in an actual theatre. The graphics are 'nominal'. However, that really does add to the atmosphere. The 'walking dead' are simple and old-fashioned. You might chuckle at their groans the first few times you hear them. But,after a while, you will come to dread them. They pop up behind you constantly, ready for blood. The random level loading is great as well. While the levels aren't dramatically different every time, they are somewhat. And, that adds to the replay value. This thing IS DRIPPING with what it needs as a vampire-based game. Lots of blood and atmosphere. It runs wonderfully on a low end 'duron' system with pc133 ram! For under twenty bucks, this is a steal. Play in the dark, with headphones on, and the phone-ringer off. With a nice glass of red-wine to get you in the mood. A 5 'bite' review. One you can really sink your 'fangs' into.

Not worth it, even on sale...

I found this game for cheap and it still wasn't worth it. Not at all scary or suspenseful. You know if you're entering a room, something's going to pop up at you. Again. And Again. There are countless dead ends and single rooms that lead no where...you fight through five gouls only to get some health to recover what you lost fighing the gouls. The monsters are unoriginal and, for the most part, indistinguishable from each other. You have to lead your family to safety, which means back tracking to the beginning of the game, leading AI challenged characters who are easily left behind.

To top it all off, all of it is timed, so there's little time for exploration or examination of your surroundings. This was probably done on purpose so you wouldn't notice the complete lack of creativity or detail.

Oh, another treat...if you accidentally hit "reload" on your revolver, it reloads it...even if it has a full cylinder...and dumps the unsed bullets on the ground, using up your ammo. Brilliant.

I've played the game once, didn't finish it, and probably won't play it again.

Creepy and Heart - Pounding Fun!!!

The first time I played this game it was in Beta Testing stage.
It literally scared me to the point where I had a hard time sleeping the first night I played it, because of the excellent graphics at the time. The game plays like a hunt and fetch scenario, which is entertaining if you like strategy games as I do. The best thing about this game that was very different in its time, was that if you made a mistake, or forgot to get an item, or just wanted to test your skill multiple times, the game scenario would change by small variables every time you returned to the front door (the beginning of the game). The most frightening ordeal one encounters is the realistic creatures, ghosts and phantoms that appear when least expected.
I would not recommend this game to children under 16.
I am a horror buff and it takes a lot to scare me, and I understand that most game software now is more advanced than when I played this game for the first time. Still, I am buying it!!! I remember that it was THAT good and I have never forgotten how creepy it was and very exciting to play.

Could've been awesome

For 20 bucks it's definitely worth picking up, but if you're one of those people that can't own a video game without beating it, this will drive you nuts. It is HARD!!! The weapons are pathetic compared to the dozens of creatures that jump out at you at every corner. Oh yeah, the game IS creepy. The first time I saw the black spectres floating at me screaming bloody death, I felt the hairs on the back of my neck stand straight up in horror!

But that's not the point. The game is so frickin' difficult, it gets you frustrated enough to crack the CD in pieces. And to make it worse, the official website offers no support, no clues, no hints, no cheats, NONE WHATSOEVER. There is a small program floating around the internet called "Pizzadox, Wrath of Malachi Trainer" (PizzaDox, with a "D," not box), that gives you infinite health, but even then, you still can't progress through the game.

Every tower has a key, and several rooms in each tower have their own keys... and good luck finding them!!! You need at least three keys to explore just one tower. And even if you beat the tower and defeat the first boss, you need ANOTHER key to escape his lair and continue on your quest... but where is it??? And as I mentioned before, with virtually no support from the makers of the game, you might as well throw it away.

I can't own a game without beating it, it drives me nuts, so if you're like me, avoid this game at all costs. I'd be surprised if anyone - other than the makers of the game - have beat it.

I give Nosferatu: Wrath of Malachi three stars because it's an awesome idea, the fear factor definitely works, and the atmosphere is terrific. But without any tech support, and insane quests to find stupid keys, how can you enjoy a game you can't beat?

FREAK SHOW!!!!

This game is sCarRY! The graphics are good. It's a small file--
about 300mb. But, the music and sound effects will freak you out!
It takes place during the night (of course) and when the music
becomes more dramatic, then you know that creatures are near!
I haven't finished the game, yet. Too spooked. Try playing it
in a dark room at night. Turn up the volume and enjoy the scenes.

And do try to sleep with your eyes closed at night...........

Elitists beware

Complaints about the outdated graphics should be ignored, especially in a time when the new paradigm in graphics seems to have sacrificed the actual game experience (e.g. Deus Ex is a far superior game than its sequel despite the latters' highly touted graphics). This is not a zombiefest a la Rez Evil, which I personally find tedious. This is a bona fide scary game whose scariness is augmented by seriously dramatic in-game music. The story is a tad weak, but I think the makers were looking for simple frights in place of plot-driven antics, which would be limited in a castle setting anyway. This game keeps me on the edge of my seat, and makes me jump more than occasionally. Your character is not superhuman, which simply adds to the direness of the situation. What sets the 'scariness' apart in this game is the almost palpable sense of evil (at least in my experience), which is often absent from many Horror games, including Clive Barker's Undying, which only scratched the surface, and was tireless with respawning. Voice-overs would have greatly enhanced the experience, but can be overlooked. For the price, an effective game for what it aims to do, which is to scare you. Turn out the lights, light a few candles, get your girl to play alongside, grab a little wine, and you'll have a frightfully good time battling the undead in this one.

one of the scariest game I ever play

At first I dont mind if this game I purchase will satisfy me. Because I attracted at the Title font!!! they the description of the games t the back of the CD so I decided to buy this games. They I went home in the afternoon and i tried to play this stuff, Im surprise that everytime I use my Audio Headset I can hear sound of people around the corners of the mansion. And the big deal is It's my second time I've been affraid in my game life. The first game I played that shocks me is the "Alone in the Dark" this stuff is really scary and it makes your bones really shaken. But when I purchase this game, just in the beginning of the game it really frighten me a lot. And it is more scary that the previous game I've played. Man!!!! it's awsome you too can experience a different kind of horrific scene in this games. For me It's great!!! Thanks to the creator of this game.

Cheesy!!!!!

This game is sooo 1995. The graphics suck, you need extra hands for the controls, and its more lame than scary. A big waste of money. If you're into survival horror games, or even adventure games like Syberia, this game is NOT up to snuff. Don't waste your time or your money.

Don't waste your $ or time

I read other reviews which were all mixed. I gave this game a chance. I really like the Resident evil series and really ejoyed "Undying". This game is no where near the quality or fun of either one of those. It has the potential if they would work on the graffics and the monsters. I played it for a couple of days hoping it would get better, but no such luck. I did think it was scary playng it but the graffics and the same old monsters made it terrible. I suggest you try "Undying" if you haven't and you like this type of first person shooter, puzzle solving game.
