The WORST Game Save your money

I am one of the bigest fans of Mortal Kombat and when GOLD came out for Dreamcast I thought It would be the best. But I have been playing Soul Calibur ever since I got my Dreamcast and I was expecting somthing great from Mortal Kombat. The graphics are the same as they where before the Dreamcast Midway did not waste any time on this game. Save your Money and buy "Soul Calibur".

(I can not give it zero starts so I guess one is enough)

hmmm I wish I could fit all the problems in here.

Has anyone noticed how All the charicters pratcilly have a way of moven?

Cyrax will move just like Sonya. Scorpion and Subzero and Jax Well Just about everyone has a duplicate animated action's and puches and kicking. They are all the same animations really and that really brings the game down.

The Shadow's are nothin but stick people.

lame lame lame.

and the super powers looked Better in Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat 2 and Mortal Kombat 3. look how stupid Lue Kang's Fire is now. just a little tiny ball...

ahhh plan and simple this game sucks. If your a die HARD Mortal Kombat fan, YOU MIGHT! like it... but there is also a chance you might hate it. But as for a fighter... If You are REALLY looking for a fighter, Don't even think about buying this game. if your gonna buy it, buy it for like 1- to 5 dollars at the most. I payed 26.99 for it..... and Not worth any of the money I put to it. Kitana doesn't even have the same appeal she had in Mortal Kombat 2.

Mortal WHATTTTTTTTTTTT!

Almost the Worst Mortal Kombat's.

My first impression came with the controller. There is no Support for the joystick thing. and when you try to move the charicter with your regular standard pad instead of foward you mostly jump. You don't even need to touch anything near the jump, once you say foward you end up jumping most of the time. also same with the backward. There should have been support for the trottle thing. I guess I have to go get my self a Fighting controller for this game. but won't help much.

This still has some of the worst story's and the Worst endings. Reptile, come on! I beat the boss here, and he kills me in the end cinema. That is just Idiotic.

Wow what did we get more then the 4th one? 4 5 More charicters, lets see. Cyrax, Meleena, Kitana (Which should have been in the 4th one in the first place, them idiots!) Baraka (Also one that shouldn't have been taken out, though he was incredibly cheap even from the first one) Kung Lou (Never gave a cared about him) ahhh I'd have to figure out if there were more. but who gives. either way it should have been like Mortal Kombat Trilogy meets Mortal Kombat 4 (With Better storys and endings)

1 was a Very Good Game 2 Was a very Good Game but the storys got stupid. and shouldn't have told you who won in the first tortment, simply because I beat Kain or what ever. But still, He is a stupid charicter anyhow. Shouldn't have lost Kano Or Sonya in the first place. 3. All the new Charicters Stink! Why did they get ride of Scorpion? Ultimate 3. well ok this one was cool to see. but still stunk. Trilogy. Trilogy The best of the Mortal Kombats 4. Good to see Goro Back, but other then that they are Missing way way to much! Gold. Not anything new from the original 4th.

ahhh I'll go on and on. I'll just simply say There are ALOT ALOT ALOT better fighting games to get for your Money! I MEAN ALOT!

Mortal Kombat Gold Doesn't even come close to beating any of the Mortal Kombats on the other systems (well Gensis Mortal Kombat 2 is probaly still the worst) But even N64's mortal Kombat 4 had better a better controller.

Wow, how overwhelmingly unimpressive

This game was impressive in 1993. It's laughably bad now. Pixelated graphics, 2-d fighting, and a tiny move list make this game unimpressive. Which is a shame, because the MK characters and storyline are pretty interesting.

If you are looking for a good Dreamcast fighting game, then, please, pass this one by. You'll play it for maybe 8 minutes, then get bored. Instead, get Soul Calibur. It's the best fighting game yet. Or, if you want a little titilation, get Dead or Alive 2 and see what the Dreamcast's graphics processor can do. Those who appreciate "The Man Show"'s "Girl on Trampoline" segments or Dailyradar.com's Jumprope Team will really get a kick out of Dead or Alive 2.

But please, leave this boring, outdated game behind. If only Midway would take the MK franchise into the RPG genre...

What a dissapointment!

MKG isn't a bad game...For Supernintendo. The graphics are alright, until you see their shadows are stick people. The stories are extremely weak. The gameplay is redundant. The videos at the end of the game play like you just drew them. It's really bad.

The only very redeeming value of this game are the move. The are something else. However, they cannot save the game.

Every so often I like to play this game, but not because it's great, just because my Sega doesn't work, and that's the only other copy of MK I have.

Just flat out disappointment

When will the makers of mk realize that you cant make an identical game to inferior systems and still expect people to buy it. If you're gonna make mk for the dc, make it spectacular. I got rid of the 64 because I wasn't totally pleased with the game selection and quality. I see now that there will never be another mk game that i'll be buying for a system. Oh yeah, and i'm begging someone to make the game just that much harder. It's not even fun on two player. But once again, thank the man upstairs for refunds and exchanges.

More o' the same, bub...

Midway, in an-all out effort to publish as many fighting games as humanly possible has given the world Mortal Kombat Gold, an "update" to the mildly popular MK4 seen in arcades everywhere a couple of years ago.

To warrant this title's port to the DC, Midway included some "new" characters. Cyrax, Mileena, Kitana, Baraka and Kung Lao are all standing by to be beheaded at your leisure. I'll admit, it was fun to play as my old favorite Baraka, but I found his return to be a bit lackluster.

None of the fatalities you'll see from the new guys are original, all are merely 3D updates of MK2 and MK3. I found Cyrax's "blowing up the world" move terribly lame, as will you. And suprisingly, Baraka's victims don't bleed when he impales them. Otherwise, you'll find all of the characters present in the home games from last year, including the console-only Goro. Also, savvy players can unlock Noob Saibot and Sektor, via secret codes (don't tell).

Let's get one thing straight. Graphic-wise, this game mirrors the arcade perfectly. That's one smooth box of chips Sega's got. The character models are back to the 3,000-polygon count (up from the PS and N64's dozen or so polygons per fighter) and the colors are bright and vibrant, with no pixelization. However, there's a few oddball things that stand out. For example, for all of its 22nd-century power, the Dreamcast can't deliver shadows that don't look like bouncing boxes strung together? I don't think so, Midway. Plus, you'll see several of the same animations again and again and again.

Gameplay also mirrors the previous home releases. Jump, combo, special move, jump, combo fatality. The AI isn't particularly bright, especially on the stages where rocks and other debris litter the ground.

Sound-wise, the game is adequate. The new characters use recycled sounds from old MK games, as do the new stages (also taken from old games.)

All in all, if you haven't played MK4, and you have a Dreamcast, you may enjoy this title. The action is swift and pretty, and there's lots of fun blood and mutilations (parents beware.) Otherwise, this title is old news that could have benefitted from a little more development time.

Mortal Kombat Gold is a Boring summer re-run

Its not that mk gold is a bad game and all, but as far as Franchises go, its just about run its course. MK gold is basically MK4 with 5 new charactors, and once thats over with your stuck with a game that you were finished playing on the nintendo 64 and playstation a year ago. It does look much better than the arcade and the gameplay is exacly the same, but its to old of a game to come out now. It would be like releasing a new virsion of Mortal Kombat 1 on the playstation. If you have never played MK4 before, then you should rent it and see if its your thing or not, but otherwise steer clear and buy soul calibur instead.

Same Old MK
