DDR Universe is definitely a very fun game that can be used to keep you moving. The only gripe I may have is sometimes the background images are kind of distracting to the actual game play and may cause you to miss an arrow. Other than that I would definitely recommend this game to everyone who likes this type of game and it's even more fun if you have a second pad where the competition just increases the fun factor and replay value.
Alot of fun and a lot of exercise

I bought this game (and the XBOX 360) because I needed something that was fun that would get me to exercise. I have always been less than enthusiastic about exercise but loved to dance, so I thought it would be a solution. I was right beyond my wildest dreams! First, it is so easy to pop the DVD into the XBOX -- with the hard drive it saves what you have done so that there is no messing around with computer controls to get started. There is a progression in difficulty so that you start with the beginner 's Game Mode Lite (my grandaughter calls it Game mode lame, but I don't care.) The advanced modes are incredibly complex, so I know that I'm not going to run out of challenges any time soon -- probably never. You only need about a 4' x 4' space in front of the TV for the game mat, unlike exercise videos that seem to assume that you have a home gym with 20' of clear space in every direction. The songs are hot -- great rock (although I'm not as fond of some of the rap) -- and surprisingly, some of the slow songs are harder than the fast ones. You get a letter grade as well as a numerical score after each song, and for someone conditioned to school, you just can't allow yourself to be satisfied with a C, so you do it again. I had said to myself that I would do it for at least 20 minutes per day, but find I am not satisfied until I have danced for at least 45 minutes. And, I am sweating and loving it! Finally, for someone who hates to go to the gym and really doesn't have the time, this requires no more time than the hated treadmill currently cluttering up my living room (it's going to the garage this weekend and possibly onto E-bay after that). So, it is loads of fun, it's convenient, it's great exercise (although I find I'm just thinking of it as a game more and more)and it doesn't clutter up your house with ugly gym equipment. We've bought other XBox games and they are all pretty good (Never thought that I would be playing video games)but this is still the best!

My daughter who is 15 recieved DDR as a Christmas gift this year. She absolutely loves it! My son(13 yrs.) and my husband also get in on the fun. It is also a great workout. It is kind of like guitar hero for your feet. I definitely reccomend it to any age group.
Surprise- we actually like it!

My brother gave this to my 6 year old daughter for Xmas. I thought it might be a silly waste of money, but boy was I wrong! My daughter is ADDICTED to it! She just cried herself to sleep because it's bedtime and we wouldn't let her dance one more song. What was the biggest surprise is that everyone tried it out and loved it. My brother and his girlfriend had a "dance-off" and he's buying one for himself. Even my 62 year old father tried it out. Plus it's not only fun to do but fun to watch. Perfect for parties!
Lots of fun!

DDR Universe is a very fun game. I'm new to this rythm based dancing game and found it very enjoyable. Once you get the hang of the hand/foot coordination, the only thing that will get you to stop playing is that you are tired.
The music selection in the game is good. There are some remixes of older songs (even some from Konami classic video games), and a few by artists I knew. But for the most part, I don't know much about the music. Once you get the beat though, the majority of the songs are fun to play.
For the casual crowd, there is a "Basic Edition" you can play in the game that keeps things simple. If you want more of a challenge, the "Master Edition" section of the game is the way to go.
One problem with the game is a lack of good instructions on how to navigate the game and it's options. This is especially the case with "Quest Mode", which plays out okay but no real direction is given on how it works. You kind of just have to figure it out.
One real plus for the game is that it is a great workout and I actually use it for my cardio exercises. It will even keep track of your calories burned. This is great for anyone looking for a video game that is fun and gives you a good workout.
Overall, this game could be better in some respects (like more variety in the background graphics for individual songs for instance. Some songs have almost the exact same thing going on in them) but in the end it's a lot of fun and I recommend it.
Fun Game for All Ages!

I purchased this for my 8 year old for her birthday this year. It is a neat game with LOTS of different ways to play. You can even play sitting down using a controller with the other player using the game pad, which is great because I can't keep up with the steps physically, but can still play with my daughter. The game pad that comes with this game seems to be adequate and we have had no problems with it so far. I only gave this game a 4 star rating due to the somewhat limited selection of songs-I thought there would be more included with the game. Also, I'm not really how appropriate some of this music is for an 8 year old-it would be nice if there were a version of this game for the pre-teen set. Overall, a good product.

Bought this for my 10 year old daughter's birthday as she liked the arcade game. It was fun, but a bit harder to operate for her. Need a hard flat surface to play it on, and the pad has no "Feelers" so as to help her center herself so she can strike the pads with her feet when needed. She has a tendency to loose her center and move out of the pad sensors so though she is hitting the pads, she is not getting the points for it.
Songs were ok, but kind of lame.
Good workout for her though and she works up a sweat playing on it alot. She loves it.

This game is one of the funnest ever. It's a great workout and get's you moving with new moves. It's more challenging then you might think but that's half of the fun. It's even better playing with friends but you won't be disappointed playing on your own.
Great Game, One Downfall- Overall Good Buy

As a frequent buyer, I know the DDR's quite well. Although Universe can definetely boast among the best ddr's, it has one shortcoming. The arrows for playing the game are smaller than the other games. If you think this might be a problem, do not buy. Otherwise, add it right to your cart.
Another Great DDR game!!!!

DDR is a great game for exercise, parties, or just a good source of music =)
The only problem with the ddr pad is if your not centered and you attempt to hit one of the buttons on the top or bottom edge, it won't trigger, so you have to center yourself every so often. But until they make a metal pad for the 360 what can you do?
One other problem with the game: The 360 allows for custom sound tracks in some games, however the makers of DDR Universe have decided NOT to use that and therefor you cannot import your favorite song, or classic DDR song, and create a custom dance track for it =(
Overall I would recommend this if you enjoyed other ddr games and have a 360 =)
