Vampires versus Demons and Nazis ... c`mon!

3 Rating: 3, Useful: 0 / 0

While this game has excellent graphics and playability, the baseline premise and storyline could have been much better.
I found that while as an action oriented - kill everything in sight - this game works pretty well, for the most part ...
However, the RPG element to the game is almost non-existent and the storyline was one of the weakest that I've ever heard.
The game is also surprisingly short. There are only two location sets to be dealt with: cajun swamps & nazi strongholds.
If you're looking to kill something - often and badly - then this is definitely the game for you & you won't be disappointed.
But, if you're a mature gamer looking for some roleplaying element to a game, seek elsewhere as this just isn't it ...

Awesome cheap game, Lots of blood and gore

The story is kind of dumb but who cares really? Your a hot bad ass female vampire who is hired by the government to kill Nazis. They have been working on a biological secrect weapon of some kind and it all goes wrong, and Im sure the devil and all the demons of hell are in there somewhere. Strange Idea, But very cool. This game is very adictive especially if you have cheat codes, and never have to feed. You can use all the guns you take from the dead, But why, when you can use two giant wrist mounted knives to slice them to pieces. And when you are low on life you just have to find someone, grab them with your retractible chains, pounce, and suck the life out of them. Awesome game lots of fun, very long. Probably wont have patience with out the codes. This game is very grafic and very adult(boarder line porn at times)Stong language and sexual referances. Not for kids!

i think bloodrayne is one of the best games out there. it's better then blade. it's better then resident evil, and silent hill. bloodrayne gives the player realism too the game . it's like watching a movie, and playing at the same time. but the big question is when is bloodrayne 2 coming out. the most highly anticipated game everyone is waiting on. there is only two games that come close too bloodrayne. madden 2004, and splinter cell 2. bloodrayne is the ultimate fighting ,killing game in the world. thanks majesco from john wright.

A FUN, SIMPLE, ACTION GAME THAT'S VERY BLOODY 8 OUT OF 10

I usually hate vampires in games, especially after playing Castlevania and Buffy the Vampire Slayer in which they're pretty big d***s to kill, but Bloodrayne is a surprisingly cool action game that at the same time is gleefully blood and gore saturated with its constant bullet-spraying and slicing and dicing gameplay, and you're a vampire!. Bloodrayne may be a bit undercooked around the edges but it's a game that is well worth an investment and of your time.
WHAT THE GAME IS: You are a half human, half vampire girl named Rayne. The time is the 1930's and you are a part of a secret organization called the Brimstone Society; an organization that hunts the supernatural. You must stop the Nazis from releasing horrific creatures using a powerful relic. So you kill ugly insect creatures, Nazis, and other abominations while hunting for Rayne's biological father who was a vampire. You must you various guns and the blades on your arms to accomplish your goals.
GRAPHICS: Its age shows. Lip movements are off, animations are stiff, and the textures and environments are dated, but still work.
MUSIC: Sets the mood, but feels a bit too quiet.
SOUND: Bullet-spraying, slicing and dicing, screams of enemies, and fairly good voice-acting.
GAMEPLAY: The gameplay is quite simple, yet quite fun. I love all the guns I can get, and I love blood rage mode when everything goes slow-motion and slicing Nazis to pieces and hearing them scream while I do it. The puzzles are interesting, but what damages this game in particular is the fact you will wander for long periods of time figuring out what to do next. This problem is a minor flaw to this wonderful gory experience. The controls work great, though there are minor camera problems. Beware of water, it will hurt you. And here's a tip so you don't get stuck at the beginning of the game: power lines are basically a walkway to the next location at the beginning of the game.
OVERALL: A fun, yet surprisingly simple action game that is very gory and very entertaining, it's an adventure that's difficult to put down the controller for.
THE GOOD: Very bloody gameplay, cool female protagonist, lots of weapons, interesting puzzles, okay graphics, interesting story.
THE BAD: You will wander for long periods of time figuring out what to do next, music and graphics are a bit dated.

This game is super duper fun. It has great graphics and button handling. You can even choose between persons (1st or 3rd). The bosses has it's fair share of difficulty. The really awesome part of the game is when you fight a God! This game is a definate buy!

Not for your kids...

I have loved the idea and concept of this game before it came out. I was not dissappointed. The moves are incredible, I love the controls and gameplay are awesome, the graphics will not dissappoint you, and best of all its fresh. The blend of storyline, gameplay, and twists are somehow addictive. It does look like a port from PS2 to xbox...some of the graphics are bump mapped and some are not...and you have to get good at manipulating the camera...but its sweet. I love how the different weapon modes you have...pick them up...use up the ammo and throw them away. Its great. This is definitely not a game for kids. Concepts are 18 or older.

This is an extremely violent game. One of the first times I have heard explicit language used by a character. This game should not be played or seen by anyone under 17. The rating is right on. My wife saw me playing this game and signed me up to see a shrink.

Could have been better.

What happens when you design a game for the PC but put it across a multitude of consoles first? BloodRayne. Now, now, hear me out before you bite my head off. The software is riddled with a great deal of glitches; at least as far as the Xbox version goes, that's the one I bought. There are countless times I've run into slowdown, and visible rendering, aliasing, artifacting and numerous other problems of an unpolished game. So I'm not happy with the graphics. Secondly; the control options. I have been one of those voices proudly protesting the Resident Evil/Tomb Raider and the Mouse and Keyboard control set up. When I put the disk into my Xbox I was appalled to discover the game's default setting was mouse and keyboard, which does not work on a console. Thankfully, after tampering with the control settings for a while I discovered a tomb Raider like control set up. While I hate both styles and prefer free roaming analogue (a kin to the Soul Reavor series, Mario, Zelda, and Metal Gear) the option to play this more like Blood Omen 2 than Grand Theft Auto III was greatly appreciated, but it would have been better to deign this game from the ground up like a true console game, and not one that looks, and plays like a bad PC Port.
The voice acting is horrid, that said I'm now going to comment on what this game does right. The action, despite its awkward controls, is fast and furious, and there's lots of it. The story line is also darn near R-Rated Vampire flick quality, at least on par with the recent Blade movies, sadly nowhere near the caliber of something like "Interview with the Vampire", and no where near as deep as the original Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain, or the two Soul Reavor games. As a vampire fan I rush to just about anything vampire related, and while I don't regret buying this mediocre game I'm glad I didn't pay more for it than I did (I got it second hand.) I recommend that players rent this title before committing to a purchase. The game is a far cry from a must have.

AWESOME!

In Blood Rayne you play as a cool vampire chick. In the first levels you have to kill zombies, the first levels arnt very fun but after you go and get to kill ... this game is so awesome!. You can get all kinds of wepons and if you run out of ammo you always have these 2 blades connected to your arms to slice threw your enimies with. This game is very bloody and its plain out awesome! so get it
