I had just finished NFS Underground which was the best NFS so far. Then I started playing NFSU 2. After several eight hour binges I was totally hooked on this game and my girlfriend threatened to leave me, but I kept on driving, I will miss her!No other game allows you the amount of customization and tricked out parts that NFSU 2 has. The city is awesome and I found myself slowing down and stopping in some areas just to check out the scenery! Do yourself a favor and try this game, it rules!

Need for Speed: Underground 2 is yet another racing game from EA games and it really shows that they still know whats hot in the world. In Underground you have the option of going "Unerground" and racing to beat the game with the help of Rachel (Played by Brooke Burke). In the game you start off with her Nissan 350Z and need to get to the Auto Shop and buy a new car. The cars in the game vary from the 350 to a Honda Civic to a Nissan Skyline. Unlike in the other Need for Speed Undergrond game this one you can race with SUV's. Although there are only three (Hummer H2, Lincoln Navigator, and the Cadilac Escalade)the game is still extremly fun to play. I recommened this game to anyone who likes racing or just tricking out hot street cars.

I won't go into all the details of this game. Overall, it's a very fun game, with excellent graphics and nice handling.

However, there's one really major problem, in my opinion... no cops. The one aspect of gameplay that always set the NFS franchise apart from other racing games was the fact that you had cops chasing you. Now, they've finally decided to take NFS to the realm of ILLEGAL street racing through an actual free-roamable city... and they take out the cops. That makes no sense, whatsoever.

Yes, this game is cool, but it could've been extremely better, if they had kept the cops.

not as advanced as I thought it would be...

This was my 6th NFS game and I was a little dissapointed. The jump up in graphics from one game to the next was pretty big at first. NFS, NFSII, NFS Pursuit, NFS High Stakes all grew each time. But this game did not go up to a new level like I had hoped. The race idea is fun, having to drive around "looking" for races. I really enjoyed learning how to "drift" for points. The graphics were a bit of a letdown from Porsche Unleashed but an upgrade from the others before it. I did not find anyway to get any cops to chase me and that is one of the fun parts of the many games in the NFS series. I must admit that I only played the Underground 2 for a couple of months cuz Most Wanted came out and I went to that and stayed. I did not try to play on-line, so I cannot answer to that aspect. My suggestion: Buy it if it is cheap.

Too much trick out, not enough soup up!

Let me start by saying that this game had the potential of being the GTA of all street racing games, Unfortunately this potential could not be realized due to some stupid restrictions that EA had to throw in.

The idea of racing though a detailed city environment with un-lockable locations, hidden shops with hidden parts and "out run" races at every turn may sound fun, and it is, for a few hours. Eventually it becomes clear that this game, at least the PC version, suffers form "game progress lock syndrome" this is to say that one can get into a situation in the game were one cant make any progress, its more then just being stuck, in terms of moving though the levels and so on. There are several reasons for this which are as follows:

1.The main reason has to do with the AI. when you start, it seems ok in terms of difficulty, how ever it suddenly becomes almost impossible beat latter on.

2. Performance upgrades are limited and hard to unlock. The limited amount of upgrades available seems to be the main problem with this game in general. To keep up with the competition/AI, which as I said earlier is almost impossible, one must be able to upgrade the performance of his or her car. The lack of performance upgrades available in this game coupled with the difficulty in un-locking them, due to locating hard to find shops as well as tying to win enough races with what performance you have, make the game difficult to play.

3. You cant buy a car, you must unlock a place to put it in your garage. No matter how much money you make, you cannot buy a car, you must unlock it buy completing a bunch of races with sponsors. This, at least as far as Im concerned, destroys the idea of owning your car and satisfaction in how you tricked it out. Also, having the ability to earn the money to go out and buy a really cool ride when ever you want. Here you must first get the sponsor, win the races and get the car or, give up one of your highly tricked out rides to get another car. You won't see a penny of the money you put into the car period.

On top of this, like this games predecessor, there is no damage at all. Nor is there anything to fix on the older cars offered in this game, like the 1985 Toyota corolla. In fact, its shown as if this was the latest model of that car! In fact, the game dose not even give us the years of any of the cars, come on!

Finally. to much trick out. Yes it is cool to put huge subwoofers into your car or a big 21 inch screen in your trunk but, these will not get you to the finish line any faster. Infarct, in really life at least, they add weight to the car. there are some parts in the game were these come in handy, and they are cool, i just with that EA would have put more time into the performance upgrades instead.

In the end, its frustrating to see a game like this go the way it did. it could have been one of the greatest game available if EA had not gotten so wrapped up in the mess of the trick-out culture and put more emphases on buying and tuning

Yet another console game crammed into a PC format. This is the only racing game that you can spend more time in the menu than actually racing. I can see spending time on a car's setup to improve it's simulated handling, but goofing around picking out roof scoops, side mirrors, spinning hubcaps, under-car neon, trunk audio etc. is just plain silly. Otherwise, it's a fun game with challenging races. If you're the chrome muffler tip, rear wing sporting, cel phone talking type then you will probably love this game. If you're a racing fanatic, you will probably be disappointed. If you're somewhere in between, wait until the price drops.

Need for speed undergrond 2 is a great game. Though at times it can become hard and frustratig. You can modify all your cars after unlocking the visual and performance upgrades. You can also get sponsers like street glow and nos. Sponsers will pay you when you sign with them, for every race you win, and will give you a free car after completing their contract. Races start out easy and start to get hard to the point were you get frustrated, then i suggest you turn on easy mode. Races will continue to get harder and harder even in easy mode. The races are different kinds and they are: Circut, Drift, Sprint, and Street X. This game is challenging and fu at the same time i would reccomed buying it. Driving round the city helps your skills. This is a great game, so buy it whe you can.

Best Racing Game since.....

Wow...this is one of the best Need for Speeds to date.
This game brings back many of the things we know and love from the previous games. There are also more cars included in this than any of the other Need for Speeds, besides Porsche Unleashed.

Story- 4 out of 5
This is the first NFS to include a REAL story. While the first Underground game was the first to unclude a story, it wasn't much of a story.

Graphics- 5 out of 5
The effects in this game are mind blowing. While many of the effects from the previous game are included there are also many new pixel shader effects, as well as other effects. From the lighting effects in the various shops, to the motion blur when you're speeding past oppenents at over 200 miles per hour.

Sound- 5 out of 5
The sound in this game, like the previous game, is awesome. This game includes a great sound track, realistic engine sounds, as well as many other great sounds. The engine sounds from the car are extremely realistic. It's fun to mute everything but the engine volume and jsut drive like that. The music includes lots of rap and boomy music for the menus and fast techno like music for the races.

Gameplay- 5 out of 5
The free roam in this game makes it fun to just sit around and cruise around the city. The outrun races that you encounter are also very fun. In the outrun mode you cruise around until you find an opponent in which he will challenge you to a race, and then everything goes from there. No cutscenes or loading, the race is on. There are also a few other new modes, such as Street X (pronounced
