Not as good as it could be.

Pros:
1. Online Play with voice capability.
2. This is a good game and the graphics are good and match the trailer that we all saw on the PS3.

Cons:
1. There is no backstory at all.
There are red teams and blue teams, but no difference other than minor cosmetic differences.

2. You gain weapons by flying through hoops, the could have made it more interesting.

Nice Environment but something is missing

This game really open a new kind of video game due to the multiplayer mode. The fact that you really know that your enemies or friends are really other people playing around the world makes you feel in any situation. The game has some scenarios but once you know the game; I mean playing the different modes like team deatchmatch or capture the flag it becomes boring because you can go then for medals, medals, and medals and spend days fighting to get a good score... so basically once you know the game you end it. Other thing... The connection with the servers war really annoying. I though that the cause was my connection, but COD4 just work well.

Unbelievably low quality

I want to like this game.

The gameplay is balanced, and it's probably as good as any other online game (barring the technical problems I'm having), which is a major bit of praise. However, the content is pathetically tiny when compared against Halo or Resistance or any game I can think of. I same this entire game in about 20 minutes. It's so small. But in that small universe the gameplay is good. The levels have a lot of detail and all the vehicles are well balanced.

There are only a few levels. They've made more, but will sell them later (this is obvious from the menu system). There are only a few weapons, and all of them are boring weapons you find in every game. Generic machine gun. Bland pistol. Knife. A rocket launcher. Snore. They will sell more of these weapons later too. The names of the vehicles ("Medium Tank") indicate that more vehicles were made but also will be sold later. Those who tracked the progress of this game know that there were some fascinating components made that we just didn't get. Huge airships launching fighters. A story. Levels. Single player mode. All this is gone, though the game released very late. This is a Playstation 3 game that is smaller than many Playstation 1 games. I downloaded it in about 15 minutes. It's smaller than the Virtua Tennis Demo, it's smaller than that Duck Demo.

I would prefer if the expansion pack came after I was bored with a full game instead of me buying a skeleton that I have to pay to clothe... but, it wasn't a big secret and I bought the game despite these issues. This game was reduced to a very small multiplayer mode, and I bought it for that mode.

Too bad multiplayer mode barely works either. Sorting through servers is clumsy and counter intuitive. I spent about twenty minutes trying to log into a game just now (which motivated me to review it on amazon... heh talk about being passive aggressive); each sever I tried was at less than half capacity (for example: "4 players in/24 players max"), and each would give me the same false "game full" error. I've looked into it; this is a common error and there is no update solution being discussed.

There is a major problem saving "Achievement" type data used to rank players and give badges, etc. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. All service was off for a few hours on September 7, and we were told the game would now work perfectly. Now, it does seem to save my data half the time (when playing ranked servers). It's just random about whether it will work or not. But compounding all my problems is that when they updated the system on the 7th they gave me a ridiculous promotion (I was given one of the highest ranks, though I had only played on a ranked server twice and killed maybe 5 players). Since many games refuse to allow high ranked players, and I already couldn't log into games due to the "game full" error 90% of the time, it's now almost impossible for me to play this game, and I am sick of it. I have many online games and I have never had a problem on any of them, so it's not the PS3 or the network.

This is just totally shoddy. A shame too, because it is quite fun to play when it's working. Not a light year ahead or anything. In fact, maybe an inch above the multiplayer mode tacked on to full games with stories. This game isn't as good a value as those even after they fix these problems.

They left out a huge amount of content, and what they didn't delete doesn't work. Do not buy this game until it works. Probably closer to Christmas.

This game is very good, reminds me of HALO. i love the online and co-op modes. i bought this game from the PS store because i didn't see the need for a headset, but as i get better at the game i do wish i had it. so i will probably buy the headset on ebay some time later. overall this is a very good game and i would recommend this game to anyone that has a ps3.

We can only guess that Sony is attempting to self destruct the PS3 and Warhawk. I turned on my PS3 tonight and I was FORCED to download and install 3, count 'em 3 separate updates just to play Warhawk. This took over an hour and is using untold space on my hard drive so I can, what was it again, oh yes, play neato looking bloo-ray movies at nifty even higher (Yes, now I can see more sweat beads!) resolution. Yes, once again Sony is simply a company that believes that constantly updating your GAME MACHINE with pointless updates is more fun then playing Unreal or COD4 or Warhawk.

You know, when you turn on an old Sega Genesis or N64, does everybody know what happens? Yes, a totally amazing thing happens. YOU PLAY A GAME! Like right away too. A PS3 is a gaming system, it is not Windows Vista. It is not a computer, it is not a bloo-ray it is a machine specifically designed to PLAY GAMES! Yes indeed, I blew-ray [$...]on a update machine. That is awesome. Now I have to go out and buy a game machine cause I apparently no longer have one.

Great Game!

I had a blast playing this game online last night. There are so many vehicles and weapons to keep you busy. It took me a while to get used to flying the Warhawk, but once you get it down it is awesome. Buy it!

Where Are The Bots?

I knew going into this game that there would not be any bots. Unfortunately, when playing offline with a number of others, this becomes a liability, as the maps are too large to afford one to not pilot a Warhawk. Since the controls of the Warhawk don't seem that compelling to me, I'm more likely to jump into a vehicle, but again, with the maps as large as they are, no sooner do you get to an area in offline mode than you realize that the action has now moved to some other location.

If I could take the offline split-screen possibilities of Warhawk and marry them to the graphics, weapons, bots, and vehicles of UT3, I would have the perfect game in every respect. As it is I just have a game that is nothing special when my friends or my sons friends come to visit.

Fun

The game itself is a lot of fun. It reminds me a lot of the Halo series, except it's just the online multiplayer part. The controls are something to get used to if you never player a shooter on a console before. The combat is pretty intuitive, and the computer helps you lock onto targets.
The online play is great. You can get medals and ranks which are saved on Sony servers as you play. The only thing I don't like is that if you want to play a local game, even if its just one on one on the same console, you still need to be connected to a network. Also, the included headset is pretty bad and I never even use it because I only find it as a nuisance.
