Fantastic Game!

This is hands down a great game. Jaw-droppingly beautiful to look at and fun to play as well. Hooked up to a VGA adapter, this is the best looking game I have ever played or seen. The game is enormous and immersive. I really like the freedom and open feeling that other people have complained about. Personally I do not like my games on "rails" or overly obvious. Beyond the quest and puzzles to solve, it is lots of fun to just play around with the dolphin at my own pace when I like. The graphics are so good that sometimes you just have to stop and stare.

The coolest game on earth

I got this video game for my birthday, and Ecco the dolphin:defender of the Future has the best graphics in the world, plus I am a dolphin lover, and in this cool game you get to explore the life of Ecco the dolphin. This game should have some sort of map, though so that you dont loose sense of direction and end up getting sea-sick. But besides that, the game is most DEFINATLY worth it.

Well here he is a refereshing incredibly rendered and fully moveable Dolphin all your own to play with anytime you like on your DC. This game looks incredible the near photo realism of all the undersea realms is magnificent. There is alot to be said of game that just allows you to swim around for awhile before sending you on its mission based gameplay. The incredible atmosphere makes up for the fact that you are going to be covering the same terrain alot to the point where you have memorized it. The puzzles are great some quite hard others intuitive and complex. I really think they did a great job with this title, this is the kind of game I would want my kids to play it has dogfighting action without being overly violent. The only thing is that it might literally hypnotize you to sleep with its new agey soundtrack and the oceanic sounds. All in all a stellar title.

i'd most likely say this is the best game i've ever played, (on Playstation_) really easy once you have been playing it for about 5 minutes, but it gets alot harder once you get higher levels. and at first, catching that fish. but the graphics are terrific and so are the riddles. for sometime you will be lost and have no clue what to do, but just keep wondering around and speaking to the other dolphins. find out more- and it will be alot easier and you'll get the hang of it. that they like to hide things in dark places. and put a few things where alot of sharks are, for where the octopus is, that is a great deal of time getting back out once you have gotten in. and is a real pain. for i have spent hours on that and there are alot of tunnels so in the octopus's lair you will be constantly lost

but it IS a great deal of fun playing this game, for those who like challenges, puzzles, and riddles, and who have alot of patience... to me this is a very addictive game. and as for the levels- i've no idea how much there is cause i have never finished it. got ruined by my little brother befor i did. -Five star game Rating

no idea how much help this can be for you

Good game, but gets silly at times

Unlike most reviewers of Ecco the Dolphin, I have played the game past the first level. In fact, I will beat the game within the next few weeks. The game has about 30 levels, with 4 bonus levels. I'm on level 26. Let's see. Yes, there's lag; you see it when Ecco gets close to your screen. But the presence of all kinds of moving graphics will not slow the game down! I say it gets silly once you get past the first act, "Isle of Tranquility," because the story is by a sci-fi writer. Sci-fi is garbage. Again, the game is beautiful throughout. Oh yeah, the villains in the last three acts barely move. Um, Man's Nightmare is truly awesome. Dolphin's Nightmare is great as well. Check out the level "Hanging Waters" (if you ever get that far). I was blown away! The last level of "Isle of Tranquility" is really something. Ecco is a very well-designed game. I just wish the designers had composed background music for all 30 levels. Hearing the same stuff over and over detracts from an otherwise great game. Finally, I can swim very well; none of the villains can catch me! Good luck, if you've got the patience to finish Ecco...

Pretty graphics, boring game

Yes, yes, this game does have nice graphics- but after playing it for 5 minutes I got bored. I don't have attention deficit disorder, it's just that I found this game to be very slow and a little bit too serene for me. If you enjoy sports games and action games, don't get this one. I reccommend it either for young girls or, well, young girls.

Ecco the "no fun" Dolphin

At this very moment I am suffering from a terrible headache. I usually endure this type of pain when I am stressed out at work or when I encounter a stress enducing videogame. Yep, you guessed it, playing this game has steered me straight to my medicine cabinet. Let me begin by warning fun oriented gamers to avoid this nerve grating game at all cost. It is a hideously executed game filled with arduous task after task after task. I feel I'm being punished each time I play this game. With Ecco, the only thing that matters is the stunningly gorgeous environments. Of course, this is inadequate. Where's the fun of completing a long task or the reward of enduring a difficult challenge? If you want to punish a child for a misdeed, force him to play this awful game. For those of you brave enough to withstand Ecco, I advise you to buy a hint book, otherwise DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS ONE.

Goregeous, immersive (no pun intended), difficult, satisfying

I just finished this game. Of course, as everyone has stated, the graphics are amazing. Despite complaints about a boring story, I thought the story, especially once "The Foe" descend, is quite compelling. The story is credited to David Brin, one of my favorite authors (read the uplift books for more on dolphin destinies). The gameplay is quite difficult in some cases. With only subtle clues you need to solve difficult puzzles (some took hours) and then, even if you know what to do, getting Ecco to perform various feats in precisely the right manner takes lots of practice. My favorite thing in the entire game were the levels called "Hanging Water" where Ecco has activated a force field generator that maintains tubes and spheres of water high in the sky that Ecco must navigate and jump between. This level is the most gorgeous thing I've seen on a video game anywhere so far. You'll definitely get your money's worth. Nothing even close on my PS2 yet.
