This game is not what I expected, an I mean this in a good way.I really enjoyed this game. The storyline is superb. The graphics are great! I found myself playing late at night. I couldn't put the game down! The Movies in the game are what surprised me most of all some were heart melting, Scary, Sad, and funny, but all were Awesome. The ending was worth the 4-disc wait! To all Resident Evil fans (like me) I would buy/rent this game. At least take a try at it. If you buy it its worth the money. The only thing that I would con about is that when you return to a spot were you had just killed a monster, they come back, no matter where you are or, how many times you return! Overall I think this is the prefect Dreamcast game!
D 2,not a game: an interactive experance!

First I must say if your considering buying this game, drop all expectations. It's unlike anything I've ever played. This is definately an adult game. The graphics are excellant, the storyline is supurb, and unless you have 72 straight hours to devote to this game, you'll find it very difficult to put down. This is a four disc game. Alot of the disc space is devoted to mini movies which tell the story as you progress through the game. The voice overs are on a par with cinema, and the gripping realism kept me enveloped throughout the game. The graphics consist of cg, and real video images, which really bind the whole story together. The game is played through first and third person perspective. Ultimately this game has a truley inspiring theme, and an ending worth playing four discs to reach. This game could have been a motion picture!!!
A Perfect Game

D2 is an excellent game that offers everything you love about survival horror games and more... The game centers around Laura Parton, whose plane crashes somewhere in the mountains of Northern Canada. In order to survive, she must hunt for food, and protect herself against mutated monsters that pop out at random. As you go through this game, you'll find yourself emersed in an in-depth story containing stunning cinemas, character interactions, puzzles, terrifying bosses, and exciting plot twists and turns that'll leave you on the edge of your seat wanting more. There were, however, certain things in this game which I found slightly trying on one's patience. For instace, hunting for rabbits was tricky at first, but once you get the hang of it, it becomes fairly easy. Another thing that's slightly annoying, is the monsters. There's nothing wrong with them in particular, it's just that every time Laura steps into a certain area, monsters instantly pop out [in numbers] and you're forced to fight them. In spite of this, I strongly urge anyone who loves survival horror games to buy D2. The story line and the graphics alone, are well worth it.
I'm Amazed!

I was amazed to read so many negative reviews about this game. I never bought it because of them. After it was recommended by a trustworthy source, I bought it, played it...WOW!
I truly love the atmoshpere in this game. The graphics are pretty stunning, yet bleek. You experience the utter misery of of trudging through the snow. Very well done!
The voice acting is great, although the the characters' lips are not in sync with their words. Kimberly and Parker (in the game) have convincing, biting dialogue.
I love the battles. Action Packed. Nuff said.
This is the first game I've ever played that had nudity, Naughty Anime "Tentacles" (you know what i mean), Mutated private parts that kill people, and smack talking Bosses. Yep, that's right, they talk smack the whole time they're beating you!
From the reviews i've read, I've noticed that the main gripe is the controls. If you've ever played a Resident Evil Game, you're already the Master! I had no problems with the controls after 5 minutes...and you won't either, unless you've NEVER played a survivor horror game or you're a crybaby.
My only real complaint is: I wished the game was longer!!
GREAT SPOOKY GAME WITHOUT ALL THE GORE!

This game was awesome! The original "D" was good because it had a lot of puzzle, and mysteries to solve like why your father went crazy and killed everyone only to find out he was a vampire(Sorry for the spoiler!).
In D2 the game starts off as Laura being in an air plane that crashes and all passengers disappear! Now Laura must investigate why the plane crashed and why it happen.
The first time playing this game it was just amazing! because they changed everything from the original D. You are no longer 1st person but now 3rd person view. Laura carries a gun and the new combat system works great! The mystery in this D2 game is strange but fun. Such as the end after the final boss everything clicks together and after the credits roll it gives you the date and time that the world will be no more! It's freaky! Sadly there aren't much of a replay value to the game, only when it comes to the fact you haven't played it in a very long time and want to relive it.
If you thought Resident Evil or Silent Hill was a scary, try D2! It's not as scary as them but it's a very good mystery thriller game!
A GREAT GAME

The game controls in this game are odd.You play a third person view like tomb raider, but when a battle comes up it shifts to first person.Only 3 aliens come at you at the most and the minimum is 1.The aliens pop out of the snow about every 10 steps so it's sort of alarming at first but after a while it gets on your nerves. The game has a lot of backtracking where you have to find a cabin with someone in it to talk to.You walk the entire game except for a part where you drive a snowmobile. The game is finding out what happened to the rest of the passengers on your crashed flight and what became of the hijackers after the meteor struck the plane's wing. You find at the beginning of the game that one hijacker bleeds green blood and it appears somehow they became aliens, but you don't know what happened to the rest of the passengers, did they share the same fate? The graphics are wonderful and the game itself isn't that bad except it can get boring or annoying and it is a long game(spanning 4 disks)This game is worth the money.
Great game but not for everyone...

A game which involves a mute waif battling space flowers interspersed with Oregon Trail-like hunting interludes may not be for everyone. The best feature is the creepy and tense atmosphere this game oozes, due mainly to it's slick graphics. I also enjoyed the strange, Sam Raimi inspired boss encounters that pepper the game experience. My favorite so far was the flight attendant spewing airline cliches and vomit while flinging Laura (the protagonist) through the air. Unfortunate qualities include extremely bad dubbing (with many instances of gums flapping without any speech at all) and lots of embaressing "tentacle" monsters (wonder what they symbolize?). I would suggest keeping your girl friends away unless you want them to think you are a pervert. Overall though, it has kept me playing late into the night for the last few days, which says alot (I get bored really easily). If you like Pete Jackson or Sam Raimi movies(Bad Taste, Dead Alive, Evil Dead) you'll probably enjoy the quirkiness and plentiful gore. Also, this is the first game for a console I can think of that features nudity (a completly random topless scene on the second disc). On the other hand, if you're expecting serious horror (like Resident Evil) you are bound to be dissapointed.
Are you brave enough for D2?

OK. I bought this game yesterday and it is FREAKY. I had to shut the dreamcast off sometimes because i was so damn freaked out. The game itself is awsome and the story is really immense. But i have to tell you, you have to have a lot of guts to be able to play this game without getting some sort of addreniline rush. The game is also extrememy gory; sometimes you cant see what you are shooting at because blood is covering the entire screen. So overall if you like to get freaked out or enjoy scary video games, this is the best one yet.
a decent game but...

Well, let me tell you this first. Those ppl @ WARP are great. They know how to tell a great story. And their games are almost always unique and new. Now having said that I would like to add some comments on this one.
First of all, why the hell did they pull out that tentacle sex scene from the original Japanese D2? With a heroine like Laura(who's also been the heroine of WARP's other game like D and Enemy Zero), it's a shame that they've taken that out. Besides, isn't this rated mature already? Who would get offended by such small scene? At least they left the shower scene intact in Enemy Zero.
Now the second thing I didn't like about this one is that the voice and the cinema is not really synched very good. I don't think it's due to the traslation from Japanese to English but it was a merely some oversight of programmers. Wish they could patch this so that the voice and the movie go together.
One more thing about the movie is that Laura is muted in the cinematics... Except a brief grunts and uh?s and ummm...s she remains silent throughout the game. So basically, your heroine doesn't say much... or none as a matter of fact.
And the actual gameplay part is somewhat weaker than the other two games from WARP. All you do is stand still, aim, and shoot. Enemies are not too strong and since you can easily replenish your health by eating meat or applying first aid spray, it's very unlikely that you are going to die. Speaking of meat, you'd get meat by shooting some animals, a la Deerhunter style. But after shooting down some hundreds(you don't need to but I did that only for fun of it) or so, it gets boring quickly.
Now some very good part of this game.
Well, it's got very good graphics and very well choreographed cut scenes. Voice acting isn't too bad and the story it unfolds is truly a masterpiece. Also eerie music is simply top notch except the fact that some of piano pieces brought me all those painful memories from Enemy Zero... After playing Enemy Zero, the piano isn't my favorite musical instrument any more.
In conclusion, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone but to dedicated WARP fans or any one who has finished RECV and waiting anxiously for Devil May Cry or Silent Hill 2. Or anyone with time and patience who likes to sit back and watch movies( a long one) and playes games occasionally. Thanks to Amazon.com you can get this one for very good price and even if you are not one of those ppl mentioned above, with that price you should give this 4 GDs a spin or two.

As the editor mentions, it is very tedious and repitious. You will find a monster in the exact same spot where you had previously killed another one. And you can not bypass any of the monsters, you have to fight all of them.
One good thing, you'll get to fight a topless woman who has alien tenticles protrouding from her stomach. I guess that's a good enough reason to buy a video game, right ?!
