In the running as the worst game for Nintendo DS

I believe this game does actually have the honor of being the worst game yet made for Nintendo DS. I had the (mis)fortune of renting this game on the day it was released, and I actually had high hopes for it. Being a big Godzilla/giant monsters fan I desperately wanted this game to be for the DS what "Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters" was for the Gamecube.
I was sorrily disappointed when I found that this game in NO WAY makes use of the capabilities of the DS. Really, this game looks like something that should have been released for the original Nintendo system. The graphics look about as good as graphics did in 1990, and the gameplay consistes of a neverending assault of cookie-cutter clone enemies constantly sapping miniscule amounts of your energy. This game is the penultimate realization of frustration. Think cheap shots, uninspired opponents, and a ultra-repetitive gameplay. This game honestly looks and plays like one of the games you can play for free at the flash arcade website. The only good thing about this game I found is the music. I would not recommend this game for ANYONE other than Nintendo DS or Godzilla completionists. You have been warned.

not as good as i hoped it would be...

This game was not as good as i thought it would, but i did have some fun with it.The first thing you will notice about the playable kaiju is that their beams are,in most ways, exactly the same.Aside from the look they really are the same beams,so unlocking monsters really is only for the fun of playing that monster. The super attacks are also essentially the same.melee attacks are only in the game because the monsters use them in the movies.Using melee is more likely to hurt you then do anything else.Flying monsters have mini blasts that makes them better to play as,then ground monsters.I did have some fun and the arcade game playing style makes it fun to endlessly blast the G.D.F. and playing as Godzilla and Battra was pretty fun.All-in-all i don't think anyone else will have as much fun as I did.buy it if you like arcade games or you are an extreme fan of Godzilla like I am.

The kids love it

My six year old twins, boy and girl, love this game. They've seen the kid friendly mothra and godzilla Toho movies from the 90s, and really enjoy playing this game. Probably not of interest to older kids or hard core gamers, but for the little ones its not hard to learn and easy to play, and after setting up the systems so that they could play together, they seemed to be having an honest good time.

Someone finally managed to kill Godzilla for all the fans of the genre.

The graphics were horrible (the original 8-bit Nintendo Godzilla foray is actually better) and detracted from the only strong point of dual screen interaction. The gameplay consisted of cookie-cutter military attacks with an occasional boss monster. All monsters were poorly rendered and gameplay was way too easy as I beat the entire game within 5 hours. This is not worth purchasing or even renting. Return yours before opening it. I sold mine the very next day and Gamestop valued it at a whopping $4 (wow, only a $25 loss). I'm at a loss for words.
