Adult played - loved the game

I loved this game, I couldn't put it down. I loved that unlike Sims on my PC this had missions that I had to finish and then move on. It also seemed as though the game moved very smoothly, I only got stuck once, but there are enough clues to help you out.

Like others you can keep playing after you "finish", but there is no point.

Addictive

Addictive Survivor Sims

This is my favourite Nintendo DS game. It's really addictive because there's so much to do - fulfilling quests for other stranded sims, trying to improve your tools, your hut, your clothes, your food supply. I like how it makes you think "now how do I get that?" It's challenging and stimulating and although it can be frustrating trying to find some of the rare items, it's such a buzz when you finally get them and can accomplish your task. The minigames are great and take some practise to master. I like the fishing best - each type of fish has its own personality. It has great replayability value as well.

Fun until 50% done.

This was a fun game until I finished helping the castaways. After that it became pointless because I could escape the island. After helping the castaways, the only reason to stay on the island is to finish your collections, which is pretty boring. The game also freezes at times so to continue playing I needed to restart the DS. I would rent the game or not buy it at all because it just isn't worth all the money, for the time you actually enjoy it.

Can't put it down!

I purchased this game for my daughter for Christmas. She can hardly put it down. It is very interactive and she loves it! My older daughter is fighting with her to play with it, too!

Nice and Different

I received this game recently, as my first Sims game on DS, and it's a nice change from the previous portable Sims games, concept wise. You're stranded on an island and have a series of tasks to complete to get off. Now, it's not like previous games where the tasks are so cut and dry that they're literally written out for you. You have to really explore and think critically about what you're doing to move ahead. You don't meet goals, but rather collect items and help out other castaways so that you can recieve the tools or abilities necessary to move on in the game. And of course, you have to maintain your needs. There are barriers that keep you from moving on until you've completed certain tasks, so the game is paced, but it does take some buildup of skill and knowledge of the game to figure out what to do next.

It does get a little monotonous collecting all of the items to completely finish the game. You can actually "win" and find a way off the island pretty easily and early on, but when I reached that point I had only found 45% of what existed on the island.

The layout is very different from previous games, almost set in a side-scrolling fashion, but there are features that eliminate tedious tasks. For example,a map selection screen that lets you select your location and land there automatically so that you don't have to walk from location to location--it's a nice feature, you'll see. ;)

The graphics honestly aren't much better than previous games, and my hands get a little tired from having to hold the stylus, prop up the console, and manage the control pad to move the screen back and forth (not necessary, but it's a nice option), but it definitely has me just as addicted as the last several Sims games.

Simple, Different, Overall-- fun

Sims 2 Castaway was a great addition to the Sims line. When I first got it, I couldn't stop playing it. It's quite addictive, but not too lengthy. The time in the game passes quickly, making it hard to fish for certain fish or catch certain bugs at points in the game. My biggest complaint would be the other people you interact with: they have no patience and require you to drop everything for you. If you don't finish their task, they become angry with you, and it takes a while to make them happy again. For some people, you have to give them items you do not have yet because you have not finished other quests yet.

All the same, it was a great game. I had a lot of fun playing it. I absolutely loved the use of the stylus in this game, especially in the games. It added a degree of difficulty that I thoroughly enjoyed.

I am eagerly awaiting the next installment of the new era of Sims games on the DS.

Great Game - only one version to play

This is a great game! i loved playing it, but there is only one version. once you go through and solve all the problems, you have done it! you can try and collect all the stuff, and try an ddo it faster, but you already know all the answers.
fun game, but once you have solved it, it will be the same and easier next time.

Not worth it!

I thought this game would be something like Ubrz in the City or Bustin Out with missions to complete and fun things like that. But this game is no fun at all! You are stranded on a desert island and you have to try to get off. The conversations with people are no fun and the objectives are unclear and no fun to complete. I like sims game but not this one! Save your money and buy something fun like Thrillville.

This game is "sweet." According to my son, it is the best game he has. He wanted to play it all the time after opening it for Christmas. Recommend this one!
