I enjoyed this game alot. These sleeper hit type games always get released and nobody ever knows about it cause nobody ever reviews it or buys it. Well i brought it cause i thought for 19.99 you cant go that wrong. This turned out 2 be a good game and i enjoyed it alot. Its an action adventure game just like Mario. And its setup just like The New Super Mario game where its 3D characters but you only move 2D. Overall i am very pleased i brought the game and hope this helps other gamers shed some light on a game that most likely will go unnoticed.

Adorable game for young kids!

So you know, I am an adult gamer.

I was amazed how nice & colorful the graphics were. The backgrounds are pretty to look at. I've seen too many games in 2D so this game is in 3D so it was a nice change.

Garfield moves gracefully. At the beginning, they tell you how to make his moves, what to do and guide you through the level, helping you to get to know the game. You collect coins, pizza and donuts for lives. You also have to beat a boss at the end of each level.

There is absolutely no stylus usage in this game which is fine. Some games require it whereas this one doesn't. This game is 3D platformer like Yoshi's Island for the DS. There is only one direction he can go to. No confusion. Or maps to remember. (I have no sense of direction so this game is great for me) Just make Garfield go and collect items on the way from beginning to end of each level.

My sons also like the game too. (7 and 9 yrs old) So it is great for everyone. (even for adults like me who feel like playing an relaxing game) It's not highly challenging at all. A 5 year old could do it. I haven't gone far yet but I'm loving it so far!

Loving it

I love this game its fun and easy enough for someone who's completely horrible at games like I am to actually make it past the first level. Really good gamers will probably find this game an easy play but its so much like Mario and so much funnier in that you collect donuts and pizza that is should keep even them coming back for more. Nintendo magazine also rated it an 7.0 so I can't be the only one who thinks its fun with lasting quality.

A note for cat owners though, you might want to play the game with the cats out of the room or like me you'll end up with two kittens sitting on your lap trying to figure out how to get the injured kitten out of the funny box in your hand. It was cute but they got me killed quite a few times. ^_~

Great side scrolling game!!

I love this game! The backgrounds are very rich and nice to look at, the music is cute and it isn't too easy to complete. It took me a few days of playing for 45-60 minutes at a time. Garfield moves great, but sometimes it seems he gets stuck under things and you have to turn around to get back out. You have to collect pizza slices for life and doughnuts are like coins in the Mario games. For every 100, you get an extra life. I thought the bosses were very easy to beat; you only have to hit them 3 times and it's not hard to do at all. Good game for Garfield lovers and kids!!

Best game ever

Me an my sister are addicted to this game. It has so many levels to it. It is hard to get bored. Between the two of us we have over twenty Nintendo DS games and this is by far the most enjoyable.

This game is also challenging and stimulating for adults and definitely deserves the E for Everyone rating.

I highly recommend it for Garfield fans. He looks so cute crawling, reaching, jumping, etc.

Really fun game

Garfield's Nightmare is a real fun game. It is just kinda hard. I know what to do and everything. It is good for 8 and up. I am 9 years old and i understand it perfectly. If you loose nine lives then you have to start over.

Yay Garfield!

I have only had this game for a little while but I am enjoying it quite a bit. I am just going to list some of my personal pros and cons.

Pros

- Interesting and fun worlds each level seems to get harder as you go instead of being random.

- It's classic Garfield, how great is that.

- Easy to master movements, but the game does not become repetative or simple.

- This game actually requires some skills and co-ordination and definately some attention to timing those jumps.

- There is hints within the game, but they do not remove the challenge.

Cons

- Why can't he climb? Well as far as I've gotten he can't. Really that would make this game really interesting if Garfield was able to climb, at least in some levels. (and if you are a Garfield fanatic like I am you might also note that climbing would be a bit more realistic for the Fat Cat cause he can't even jump onto the kitchen table, but he can climb up the wall and hang upside down from the ceiling.... Of course the premise of the game is Garfield's nightmares...)

- The orientation and controls of the mini games are a bit annoying. Not to mention the mini games are a bit lame.

- I wish that Garfield actually had a bit more shape to him. I've gotten used to him looking like a simple cg animation, but I think he could use more than just simple shapes for his composistion. Or at least a bit more rendering... I'm just not used to seeing and orange marble for a Garfield head.

- The biggest problem I have is dying too quickly. And I will admit that I am not the best gamer, but I am by no means a newbie either. I have one piece of pizza and over 100 doughnuts... and you need pizza to keep going cause pizza = life. And unfortunately pizza is hard to find and there is like one piece per level and then you can't hold more than 4 ( I think) and if you get more those are converted to doughnuts.... I don't think that was thought all the way through.

Well that's pretty much it. All in all, I like it. If I had played it before getting it I may have waited longer to get it, but I still would have ended up purchasing it.

Fun, but game cannot be beaten.

I had fun going through all the levels but I think the boss level on level 4 is rigged against being beaten. In fact I think they start to rig it to take lives on the 4th level. I got taken out when I wasn't even touching anything dangerous. All you had to do was to be near it. Also, sometimes when you try to jump to avoid danger nothing happens. I believe that there's no way this game can be beaten.

Fun, just wish it was longer!

This game is a blast and well worth the $15. Awesome 3D graphics, challenging but not ridiculously hard. The kids and I had to fight over it! Unfortunately, I beat the game after only having it for one week. I was disappointed because I thought there were more levels. There are only 4 main levels, each divided into 5 parts. The 5th part of each level is when you fight the boss. To the reviewer who thinks this game can't be beaten: yes it can. It's tricky, but you've got to stand right next to the big snowman to avoid his snowballs. Then as soon as he throws out a penguin, jump on it and use the leverage to jump onto the snowman. Even though it's a bit short, I still recommend this game to adults and kids who love Garfield!
