I just got this game today at GameStop and it is wicked awsome. I LOVE it. As you all know this game has had more hype for the Wii version but the DS version is just as fun. The only thing is you can't build houses in the DS version but thats not a problem because there is so much fun stuff to do. I HIGHLY and DEFINATLY recomend this game. When I get a Wii I will DEFINATLY get the Wii version of this game it's so much fun. I like it better than the regular sims.

I think this is a great game, the perfect blend of The Sims and Animal Crossing. It is very enjoyable. I am disappointed that you can't build houses like in the WII version, but other than that it really lives up to everything I've heard about it. The mini games that I've got so far are fun. It is easy enough to earn money (unlike some of the Sims games) to buy the things you need. All in all it is very cute and fun also.
My 9 year old loves this game

If you're considering this for your kid. Go for it. It will keep him/her busy for hours on end. You'll have to drage him back to the real world. My 15 year old is a Sims fanatic & couldn't help but give it a try (after the little one fell asleep late Saturday night). The teenager reported that it is a fantastic game, but probably best suited for the 12 & under crowd. She compared it to Animal Crossing & Harvest Moon - two games that she loved as a "kid"!

Everyone complains that Mysims plays like Animal Crossing. That is exactly what I expected, and what I wanted. I read the reviews, and understood what this game offered, it is soft and cool in a Cutesy Animal Crossing/Harvest Moon kind of way.
You dont worry about needs, eating and sleeping and such. But you do have tons of little jobs or challenges to accomplish at your own pace. This probably shouldnt have been called Sims anything, that really is kind of misleading, Because this doesnt follow the sims formula at all.
Anyone who likes Animal Crossing will love this, if you dont like AC then stay away and go with Sims 2 or Castaways for your sims fix.

I bought mySims, even after reading the reviews, because I enjoy just about any Sims game I've ever played. I own Sims 2 for the SP, SimCity for the computer and SNES, and I just bought Sims 2: Castaway and SimCity for the DS.
I throughly enjoy the game. It may not be as advanced as other Sims games but it still has a place. I enjoy easy mind-numbing games when I want to relax and this is definately one. I find the way the Sims look adorable. They're cute, there's just no arguing about it.
The four mini-games I've unlocked so far (racketball, parasailing, fishing, making leis) are all fairly good. I have the most problems with racketball, but I think that is less about the controls then the fact that your playing it on a small screen.
Both of my kids have tried it. My 9 year old had no problems with it, but my 6 year old had a few mostly because he is a beginning reader. The only thing I would caution a person on who is buying this is too make sure your buying it for a child who can read.
Overall, if you enjoy other Sims games I would reccommend this game.
Great if you like Animal Crossing

I am a big fan of Animal Crossing:Wild World. When MySims DS was released, I was attracted to the cute graphics. I now prefer MySims to AC:WW. The gameplay is deceptively simple in the beginning, but as the game advances, the tasks become more complex.
Your task is to restore a vacation spot to its former glory. To that end, you will meet and assist : the mayor, her son, a police officer, several shop keepers (florist, general store manager, tailor, baker, furniture maker), a fisherman, a ship captain, three park rangers, casino workers, a pilot, and an aristocrat. As you meet and assist these residents, mini games are unlocked (racketball, 3 locations; paragliding, 2 locations; making leis, casino games, fishing, 4 locations; scuba diving, and skydiving.
These mini games are fun, but Scuba Diving (Star Level 4) and Sky Diving (Star Level 5) take a great deal of time to unlock.
I found the graphics, the mini games, and the evolving character storylines to be captivating. I also found the tasks (like filling the fish book) to be somewhat challenging.
This game seems simple, but the first impression is deceptive. There is more to MySims DS than meets the eye.
Alot better than animal crossing ds(aka. wild world)

I paid $10 for this masterful game at a local pawn shop and I don't loath buying it for these good reasons....
1) it doesn't run on real-time(thank you EA!!!),the reason this is good is unlike most kids I don't get to play my DS lite every day(I only on the weekends)so i don't have to worry about missing anything in the game during the weekdays.
2) the world in mysims is allot bigger the in AC:WW which makes it allot to explore and discover(side note; with WI-FI AC:WW is allot bigger, maybe, I don't have a WI-FI usb connector,a wireless-G router,or even a computer with internet access of my own)(i'm using my moms/the stores computer to write reviews).
3)And finally mysims has a generous amount of mini-games(like a tennis type game, paragliding (my personal favorite),and a couple other fun mini games
.
Note: that IGN and others like them would say buy animal crossing for the ds instead of mysims, but if your like me then ignore them and get mysims.

Alrighty! First off, I have been wanting this game for MONTHS! (btw, I am using my dad's user name). I got it a few days ago. So far it's quite entertaining, I play it for like 2 hours each time I pick it up!
Oh, and this is from a 13 yr old GIRLS perspective.
let's make this simple:
PROS:
+The mini games are pretty fun
+The graphics are HAPPY and CUTE and not to mention really good
+The music is wonderful and so are the sound effects
+Still has that same ol' Sims feel, you gave to make tourists "HAPPY"
+Seems like there's always something to do, like waiting for new supplies in a store or whatever
+You can change your hair with out paying for it (un-like ACWW)
+WAY MORE TO EXPLORE than in ACWW, like different areas such as the "forest" "port" and "town" ect. and there's a trolley system that runs through it all.
CONS:
-The beginning kind of...well...sucks a little. It's boring, but after a while it's great
-days go by really quickly, unlike Animal Crossing where it goes by your actual clock (this is good in ways too...)
-I don't think there are seasons, which makes me MAD, but who knows..and no picking random flowers, but you can plant some.
-Re-arranging s room is weird, but a lot better than Animal Crossing, you can actually put stuff AGIANST the wall.
-You can't visit other people's towns......I don't think.
OTHERS:
*You can dig for fosils like on ACWW, but you just click on an area that is sparkling
*No upgrading houses, but you have to buy this one house...I don't want to give it away. :)
*THERE'S A CASINO, which I haven't done much in.
*there' disco...it's stupid, you pay 500 coins or whatever and all you do is dance and talk to tourists.
*You can take pictures
*No more people moving or out...there's NO NEIGHBORS, it's a tourist town.
*There's an airport, which I haven't gotten to yet...I have to be on star level 5 I think.
So that's it for now.
I RECCOMEND THIS TO EVERYONE, but I wouldn't buy it if you already have Animal Crossing because they are basically the same....Kind of. :) JUST BUY IT cause it's worth the $$$.

This game is really fun. I've spent hours of playing trying to level up my starpower to making leis to making tourist happy and etc.
You start off on a boat heading toward a not so popular town (as of then). When you get off the boat you go to the town hall where you meet the mayor. Then you go to your house and start decorating your house, exploring and doing small jobs for people
My Sims: a mixed review-but still worth having

When I first heard of this game, I was very interested, after hearing it likened to Harvest Moon, Animal Crossing, and of course as part of the Sims game family. When I finally did get it, I had mixed feelings about it, still do, for that matter
1) It does say its a Sims game, but frankly the only similarity between the classic computer game and this is the spinning green diamond over the head of the player's character. The characters, both player and NPC, look like they stepped out of a Lego game...not that this is a bad thing, just unexpected when you are accustomed to the 'real thing'/the PC games. The main difference between the Lego people and those in this game is that My Sims has a very 'chibi' look to it, compared to the more realistic characters of other Sims games. They are cute, just startling in a Sims game.
2) The appearance and overall feel of the game would lead most adult buyers to believing this is a game intended for the preschool/grade school set. While a bright child of this age could play this, I believe it is directed more to a preteen on up to adult consumer. The premise of the game is not explained well in any of the ads or sites I have yet seen...the player's character comes to a resort area, presumably to live, and winds up catering to the whims and requests of an ever growing population of tourists in 6 different areas.
You must carry cake, flowers, and even jewelry to cheer up/placate irate, disappointed or heartbroken tourists. You do this by speaking to them, then offering the appropriate gift, then conversing with them by means of watching their reactions to your use of small emoticons at the bottom of the touch screen. Choose correctly, the tourist cheers up and gives you a hefty tip (your main source of income in this game). Make mistakes, and you are likely to have a furious tourist who yells at you. You have another chance to give another gift, etc, when the game time changes, but until then they won't speak to you. This is the part that I believe would make this game very difficult for most children, because of the necessity of watching closely the NPC's visible emotional signs, and responding to them correctly. I would also imagine it would be hard for younger children to cope with having an NPC angry at them, when the child had been trying to be kind.
3) Most games today have players guides both on and offline, well prepared official sites and so on, that a stumped player can turn to when unable to figure out what is to be done next, or how to play a minigame. Not so My Sims DS... There is very little game support or info out there, nothing on the official game site, and what little I have found is all tips from those who are playing it themselves-which can be good info, or not at all. So the player is left with the option of trying to figure out on his own something that isn't clearly explained in the game, or just ignoring it, which is really too bad, considering that the mini games are also good sources of income. Again, something with the potential to be very frustrating for a young child.
4) While this game seems to be very open ended, the goal is to acquire 5 star rating of your skills with the people of the town and tourists, as well as gaining gold star rated friendship with all the residents. So the player could stop when reaching the five star level, and call it quits, but there is much more to do beyond that, so this game wears well.
5) There are a number of cute little Easter eggs in this game, little extras that bring a smile or a giggle, or a 'neat! Look what I found!' moment, such as when you reel in a large fish....which winds up being ginormous compared to the character! Or feeding the wild animals, and having the deer rub its head on you in thanks. My favourite is the nightly hunt for 'glitters'- sparkles on the ground that indicate that a surprise is there to be picked up. It might be money, rare wallpaper or flooring, fish, flowers and plants for the house or garden, or gemstones that can be later set in rings to give to tourists, or just to decorate your home with.
6) Last, but not least: ***this is not the same game as the Wii version.*** Anyone buying My Sims DS, and expecting it to be a pocket version of the Wii game is going to be disappointed. I have not had the pleasure of playing the Wii version-yet!- but I gather it is significantly different from the NDS version, and really shouldn't be compared. Different mini games, different NPCs and layout make it a very different game, from what I hear.
So, this is an odd game, to say the least, but it is one I have no problem with recommending to anyone above the age of 10 at least. Its pretty, relaxing, no real pressure or time constraints to accomplish different tasks in the game. Its a game that can be picked up and played for a few minutes or a few hours.
