There's nothing to do!

From the moment I started playing this game I knew I had made a mistake. The first flaw I noticed was the utter lack of online game play. This game absolutely lends itself to online game play, much like Animal Crossing. Why EA chose not to pursue online game play is beyond me.This game could have been a lot better if it had even the smallest bit of online game play.

The second flaw I noticed was the utter lack of character interaction. Players of The Sims who are used to the interactive character relationships should not expect the same from MySims. Character interactions are limited to such feeble actions such as "laugh" "converse" and "cry." And this is further limited by the fact that you can only engage in such interactions while you're trying to fill in their friendship meter. After that, character interaction is reduced to nothing.

Finally, the actual game play is severely limited. There's absolutely nothing to do in this game. I got bored of this game 10 minutes after I started playing. First they had me meet all the residents. Then they had me plant flowers. Then they expected me to single handily restore the town to its former greatness by making it beautiful and attracting more residents and tourists. Sound familiar? If you're thinking Animal Crossing then you've nailed it! If you've played Animal Crossing, both for the DS and Gamecube, and sucked all the fun out of it then you shouldn't play this game. Your Animal Crossing game play experience has already opened your eyes to the stuff these type of games try to feed you. This is probably why I got so bored of the game after 10 minutes of game play; because I knew exactly where everything was going. MySims, much like Animal Crossing, was trying to trick me into becoming a slave of petty and repetitive tasks such as planting flowers, talking to people and making them happy, and running endless errands.

I was expecting something different and creative from EA. I had hoped that they could turn the lame Animal Crossing concept into something fun and interactive. However, I'm not going to find that in MySims for the DS. Hopefully MySims for the Wii is a little better. At least the "build it" concept (where you build the townspeople their homes and furniture) is something new that we haven't seen in games like Animal Crossing and Harvest Moon.

Disappointing.

I wish I had time to do a thorough review for this game, but unfortunately, my time and my frustration does not allow.

Like many other people, I was completely excited about this game. A cross between Animal Crossing and The Sims? How could I not be!? The truth though, is that this game is victim to false advertising. All the cool things you heard about or saw in commercials, is only in the Wii version of the game. The DS version of the game is nothing more than a glorified mini game game. And the mini games aren't even very fun. You will continue to search around your town to find something to do or a reason for your character to go out and interact with the nameless random people in the town, but there just isn't any reason to.

This game is lacking on all levels, and I am disappointed in EA for not at least sprucing this up to the same interaction level that Animal Crossing has

Boring!

The DS version is absolutely awful. I bought both the DS version and the WII as it looked interesting. The promos are for the WII version. I actually bought a WII just to play the WII version of this game. I'm completely sastified with the WII version, but the DS needs to be avoided.

Meh.

So, just like everyone else, I was extremelly excited to try this game out since I'm a HUGE fan of Animal Crossing. And sadly, this game very much dissapointed me. Animal Crossing is SO much better in many different ways. I just hope the Wii version is way better. Unless you have TONS of time on your hands and don't mind a VERY slow moving game, then this game is for you. You can't personalize your town like they advertise (perhaps in the Wii version you can). But I wouldn't suggest buying the DS version, if you have a Wii, the Wii version is the way to go. I was hoping the game was Wifi like AC, but the only way you can play in someone elses town is if they are in the same room with you with another DS. -snore-

Not so good

I too, was excited about buying this game. It's not even close to what I expected it to be. It moves really, really slow. The interactions you have with town people are boring. You only have so many emotions to choose from. With PC Sims when you make someone mad,you get a little giggle out of it, with this version you "have" to make friends to earn $$. I feel like I'm forced to get along with everyone, or I won't make it farther in the game.

I'm sure if I stick with it, maybe something will amaze me. Like when I get enough cash and can buy this mansion. But getting there is like torture, lol.

It's nothing like AC, not by a long stretch. AC you have a lot more freedom.I played this game a total of 3 days. I've been playing AC for a year now, and have yet to put it away. I agree, the Wii version has to be where all the fun is, its certainly not this one.

This game has been sooooooooooooo boring so far. They mayor continuously tells you to do things and more tourists will come and businesses will thrive and so on and still the pace of the game never changes. Money is way too easy to come by so there is no excitement in filling your house with pretty things since it is so easy to do. Making the tourists happy is extremely easy, really the only thing that is enjoyable are the mini games but they are definitely not worth the $30 this game cost I'm going to give the game a few more hours in hopes that maybe at some point it will pick up before I go trade it in :-(

Why play a game if it's only fun AFTER 5 hours of play?

I don't know if it's because I'm not a huge Animal Crossing fan, but this game pretty much stank out loud. Very slow, not engaging at all. Basically you walk around and talk to people...mini-games get unlocked very slowly, and weren't terribly fun. I expected SOOOO much more from EA, and I'm a HUGE fan of the Sims/Sims 2 but this game is just plain bad. The Wii version appears to be much more dynamic, and probably worth the $$$, but the DS version, not so much. Buy it used, if you must try it for yourself.

I bought this game the day it came out because I was enticed by all those ads I saw on MTV in the weeks leading up to the game's release. I'm not a Sims fan, but wanted to try this game out because I think the graphics look so much cuter than the original Sims.

Since I have no previous game-play experience with other Sims games, I really don't have complaints about the limited character interaction or lack of town customization capabilities. The basic point of the game is to make the Sims town thrive, and it's up to you to make the place pretty enough to make tourists want to visit and business owners to come and open up shops. As determined as I was to make this happen when I first started playing this game, I find little motivation to keep going.

Pros:
* Customization of your Sim allows you to change your look any time you like
* Bright, fun graphics and a variety of characters with their own quirky personalities
* You don't have to worry about basic needs, e.g., eating or sleeping
* It's easy to earn money through the mini-games or simply talking to other characters

Cons:
* Mini-games can be repetitive and offer little to no challenge even after progressing from the easy to hard levels
* The townspeople can become boring quickly because they repeat phrases day after day

I have owned this game for a month now, and I only have a total play time of just under seven hours. Most of that time was probably from the first few days after I bought it. It doesn't have a high replay value, in my opinion. I turn on the game once in a while just to walk around the various areas of town and take in the cute, colorful graphics. But as far as engaging games go, this one doesn't really cut it. The Wii version looks much more interesting and offers more features (as should be expected on a more advanced console). If you have a Wii console and a DS and want to play this game, I'd recommend the Wii version.

Definitely for the younger audience

I tried this game out on a whim from a coworker and it was an extremely boring though decently made game. I suspect someone a lot younger would enjoy mindlessly planting flowers and very slowly talking with people that say very obvious and over-enthusiastic things to you.

On the other hand if I was pretty young the simple interface would have appealed to me quite a bit and I might have enjoyed wandering around the town and playing the game. It does seem like a very clean game (making it hard to get things wrong) which would keep someone entertained for a good while and let them feel like they're playing 'daddy's' Sim game. :)

Just don't get any wrong ideas about it or you'll be quite disappointed. In retrospect it seems obvious due to the designs of the characters and all, but there have been a lot of childish-seeming games written for adults so the line is pretty blurry anymore.

Good

Alrighty! First off, I have been wanting this game for MONTHS! (btw, I am using my dad's user name). I got it a few days ago. So far it's quite entertaining, I play it for like 2 hours each time I pick it up!

Oh, and this is from a 13 yr old GIRLS perspective.
let's make this simple:

PROS:
+The mini games are pretty fun
+The graphics are HAPPY and CUTE and not to mention really good
+The music is wonderful and so are the sound effects
+Still has that same ol' Sims feel, you gave to make tourists "HAPPY"
+Seems like there's always something to do, like waiting for new supplies in a store or whatever
+You can change your hair with out paying for it (un-like ACWW)
+WAY MORE TO EXPLORE than in ACWW, like different areas such as the "forest" "port" and "town" ect. and there's a trolley system that runs through it all.

CONS:
-The beginning kind of...well...sucks a little. It's boring, but after a while it's great
-days go by really quickly, unlike Animal Crossing where it goes by your actual clock (this is good in ways too...)
-I don't think there are seasons, which makes me MAD, but who knows..and no picking random flowers, but you can plant some.
-Re-arranging s room is weird, but a lot better than Animal Crossing, you can actually put stuff AGIANST the wall.
-You can't visit other people's towns......I don't think.

OTHERS:
*You can dig for fosils like on ACWW, but you just click on an area that is sparkling
*No upgrading houses, but you have to buy this one house...I don't want to give it away. :)
*THERE'S A CASINO, which I haven't done much in.
*there' disco...it's stupid, you pay 500 coins or whatever and all you do is dance and talk to tourists.
*You can take pictures
*No more people moving or out...there's NO NEIGHBORS, it's a tourist town.
*There's an airport, which I haven't gotten to yet...I have to be on star level 5 I think.

So that's it for now.
I RECCOMEND THIS TO EVERYONE, but I wouldn't buy it if you already have Animal Crossing because they are basically the same....Kind of. :) JUST BUY IT cause it's worth the $$$.
