Good for multi-player gaming...

This game is pretty good. It's a lot of fun with three or four people, doing the "Vs." games. But the single player games get old really quickly. The voice-overs from the pilots are exactly the same each run-through, and it gets extremely predictable and boring after the first few times. But, it's a good game for the whole family to play.

Excellent

I thought this game was great. It really shined in one player mode. After you beat the game for the first time there are more challenges and when you get all medals new characters and a harder difficulty appear. I felt it was a little lacking in multi-player mode but was still fun to play with friends. I highly reccomend this game for any true Starfox fan or a Nintendo lover in general.

Excellent 'shoot 'em up' let down by a few minor flaws

Anyone who played Starfox (or Starwing in Europe ) on the SNES can know what to expect here as it's pretty much the same game abeit with a few new features and much improved graphics. Rather than change the classic gameplay of the original, they've left it mostly intact and jazzed it up with brand new enimies, bosses and an new 'all range mode'. This allows you, on certain levels, to fly 360 degrees anywhere within a set area and is a big improvment on the first game which confined you to flying straight ahead every level. Even though most of the game does follow this linear approach, the wider variety of enemies on offer and the new 360 degree mode make sure that the single player game never becomes as repetative as the it was on the original. Combined with the much better graphics and sounds and the bonus features hidden throughout the game, this makes the single player game one of the best on the N64. Where the game really falls flat however, is in the new multiplayer mode. Originally intended as a feature in the abandoned Starfox 2 on the SNES, this finally saw the light of the day on the N64 version but is far too limited and and just goes to show that Starfox was never intended as a multiplayer game. Even when you get the tank as an additional multiplayer vehicle, you'll get bored of playing it really quickly, especially when you consider how many better multiplayer games there are on the N64. This is a real shame as with a little more time and effort, the multiplayer mode could have been classic and ultimately, it's what lets this otherwise superb game down.

Star Fox 64 is a pretty good game. It's more of a shooter game instead of a fighter game. Because you go head-to-head to Andross's(the bad guy) forces on must of the missions. The draw back of this game is that you can not save it,so the game is pretty hard.

It's easy once you know how to play it. I've gotten up to the seventh level which is called "Venom." I like that the characters "talk" rather than force me to try to read. Game tips: First I will tell you about the weapons and skills. "A" is to shoot a laser. "B" is to shoot a bomb. Don't waste bombs, but when Falco says his G-diffuser has a problem you have to shoot a bomb at the enemy on his tail to save your pal Falco. Use left C and press down on the control stick to do a somersault. Do this when the enemies are behind you, or use your brakes (down C). In satellite or training mode you make a u-turn when you get to the end of the area. You can press up C if you're not battling the "Boss" to look through Fox's eyes. Your ship still flies. Press "start" and then "R" while paused to put your target on or off. Now to beat the "bosses"...(major bad dudes at the end of each level) - Pepe (your pal) will tell you where to aim and fire - take his advice! The dudes and the ships you would shoot more than twice to explode are your very very tough rivals. Your goal is to kill the enemy - show no mercy! When they're shooting you, make a "u turn" and the ones on your tail will then be in front of you - ready to be killed by your careful aim. It has good graphics, and is a lot of fun.

A lot of flying action...

Great game. You have a lot of worlds to discover and it has a very good ending... that is, if you get to complete the whole game. The levels are interesting and require fast-manuevering actions in your aircraft, tank or submarine.

One of the problems is that the two player mode will still divide the tv screen in 4, not in 2. Other than that, I enjoyed it very much!

Star Fox is a game of strategy for me. You have to focus a lot or else you cannot beat it. You have a team of 4, Fox, Peppy, Slippy, and Falco. You have to sweat onto a lot of different courses and meet certain objectives to win. I like the endings of levels too.Multi-player can support 4 player action. Best used with rumble pak!

Well this game features some of the best graphics Ive ever seen and its easier to learn how to play than Rogue Leader but what were they thinking when they decided not to have a save option?N64 is a superior machine so its not like it doesnt have enough memory to support a save option and even old games like Metroid and The Legend Of Zelda let you save your progress with a password. This game is just like one of those arcade games at movie theatres because its fun to play for a while but pointless to try and beat it because it just doesnt let you save. The new Star Fox game for Game Cube sure as hell better have a save option.

Excellent Action Packed Shooter

Star Fox 64 is one of the most fun games I've ever played. It was one of the first N64 games to utilize the Rumble Pak (it was also one of the first to include voices for all the characters). The premise of the game is simple: you, as Star Fox, are trying to save the solar system from the evil Andross. To do this, you hop in your space ship and blow tons of enemy crafts to bits. The game is simple but fun and can be replayed over and over. I've played through Star Fox 64 more times than any other game I've ever owned.
The Good:

The Gameplay is fast paced, simple and fun. Action packed- there is never a dull moment.
The controls are tight and are perfect.
The level design is excellent.
The force feedback through the Rumble Pak makes the game feel more intense.
The replay value is through the roof- there are many different ways to get to the final boss.
All characters have voices!
Lots of Secrets!

The Bad:

The "multiplayer" game is really really bad. It's so bad that it is not worth playing. But that's what Goldeneye is for, right?
The graphics, by today's standards, are outdated
Some of the voices are pretty annoying (Slippy in paticular)

This game is nothing short of a masterpiece. I still play Starfox 64 today, and it's just as much fun as when I got it 6 years ago. Everything seems perfectly tweaked and just right. A game for the ages.
