This won't be the most thorough review: I simply did not finish this game. Turned on to computer games by surreal, interactive-type puzzle games, I thought I'd give Nightfall a try (it was advertised as a Myst-comparison). Perhaps my enjoyment of Myst, Riven and Titanic set me up for disappointment... While the visuals are interesting, they're not so out of the ordinary. I like more fantasy. Also, it was easy to get lost in the endless maze of one puzzle (I'm not a maze fan--but you might be). On the other hand, if you're a spacial thinker, you'd like exploring this somewhat confusing world. Trying to navigate your way through the pyramid would be fun...if your that type of person, I suppose. The quiet solitude of the enviroment is a little disconcerting...something I didn't like about Myst, either, whereas Riven has more people and sounds to interact with. It feels haunted, eerie, deserted.... The graphics are seamless, for the most part, yet it was difficult to accustom myself to the viewing...like watching a 3D movie with glasses...interesting yet dizzying in a claustrophobic way. It's not a large game...only one CD. Supposedly there are more environments but all seem to be inside the pyramid. Also, the game info claimed you can skip to various parts of the game...something that I didn't try yet. There may be an exciting or enlightening ending, one to change my opinion...but for the most part, after hours of play, I can only offer a ho-hum shrug.
A Mostly Enjoyable Experience

If you like "Myst" and games like it, you might like "Nightfall." It's better than some other Myst-clones that I've played.
You are stuck inside a pyramid and have to solve puzzles to make your way through a series of levels. Now here is an important part. You do not have to traverse each level completely in order to solve what you need to solve in order to move to the next level. A section of each level (except for the end levels) is set up almost independently of the main puzzle. BUT you don't know that when you enter the level. So part of the game is actually trying to determine which puzzles are the ones that you need to complete in order to move on to the next level.
The navigation is pretty good, once you learn how it works.
Some of the puzzles are better than others. Some seem to exist just to be clicked, while others need to be solved.
You are totally alone inside the pyramid, so if you're not a fan of that type of experience, you probably wouldn't like "Nightfall."
CONS: I wish that the makers of the game had explained a little bit about some of the choices at your disposal. There was an item within the main inventory of things that you carry all through the game that I didn't figure out until about half-way through the game. It would have been better if they had told you what it was for. (Notice that I didn't say what it was!)
Overall, if you like "Myst," you might find this to be enjoyable.

I love Adventure/Role Playing games such as Riven, Myst, Lighthouse, Timelapse, etc. However, Nightfall leaves much to be desired. At first the Pyramid and all the Egyptian artifacts seem very intruiging but this aspect very quickly becomes very boring. The so called 3D visual style is a bit disturbing to the eyes (the image constantly shakes). I found it tedious trying to make my way through its endless mazes, and after several hours had not solved the game, and therefore, I put it away for another time?????? If you love being lonely traversing maze, after maze, after maze, you will love this game.
