Knowledge Adventure's Jump Start Study Helpers Math Booster with a small price tag of only [$] is another real winner for all children in grades 1st-5th - like is partner - Knowledge Adventure's Jump Start Study Helpers Spelling Bee - this program has cute, fast paced, great music and sound three styles of arcade-like games to teach your children their math facts - no more boring math flash cards - learn math on a fast paced pinball machine, or arrange math facts for the the "burpers" or "smack" space ships and and space rocks to get correct answers to math problems - fast and fun - even for an old Grandma, me - all games are controled using the arrow keys and space bar excep to the outer space game where you shoot with a mouse - like the Spelling Bee it has over 800 pre-programmed math problems - all basic subjects are covered - addition, subtraction, muliplication, division, decimals and percentages in SIX different leveals - will auto advance at your child's own speed - on screen instructions for everything - also, like its partner, Jump Start Study Helpers Spelling Bee - you can program your child's "real" weekly math problems in to this program so they can learn their "real" weekly school math lessons in a fun arcade style of learning - you will love it for the small price tag - your children will love it for all of the fun they will have - and you will love it even more when your child brings home a A+ grade on their report card in Math. The price of only [$] is "right" - please buy it - once again this old Grandma is happy to be able to send my first grader, and my second grader back to school this year with this GREAT study tool. Knowledge Adventure can be very proud of these two programs ther Jump Start Study Helpers Math Booster and their Jump Start Study Helpers Spelling Bee - buy them both and enjoy!
A very pleased Grandmother,

JumpStart Study Helpers Math Booster: Very good

Hi, I'm StoryMaker. I've been a fan of JumpStart software since I was in Kindergarten. I got JumpStart Study Helpers Math Booster from the library recently. I have to say, I am quite pleased! Frankie the dog introduces kids to 3 arcade games that teach math. You can use the content chooser to pick a level & a topic OR you can enter your own math problems and make custom lists to use in the game. This CD-ROM is not only fun but educational for a wide age range. Subjects available in the content chooser include additon, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, decimals, & fractions. They only let you do additon, subtraction, multiplication & division for the custom lists, but it's no big deal. Also, I don't like how they only display the custom lists you made on the username they were made on, but still no huge deal.

The games are:
Galactic Pinball: Guide the Frankie-pinball around a maze of bumpers & other obstacles and get to the answer of the problem on the bottom of the screen. This is a very fun game & pretty educational, but the obstacles can sometimes whoosh you into incorrect answers, so sometimes you get a chip in your score even if you know the answer.
Asteroid Smash: Click on the fast-moving, 3D asteroid with the answer to the problem on the bottom of the screen and a glittering diamond will be revealed. If you're familiar with Math Blaster, it's kind of like one of their asteroid-smashing games. This is a fun game, and quite fast-paced - good for those math problems you want to get quick at answering. One prob: you are encouraged to shoot spaceships. If you miss, you could hit the wrong answer.
DigiHog Drop: Little, furry critters called DigiHogs "love numbers so much they, uh, pigged out on them, and now, they've got the hiccups. Let's squeeze them so they feel better!" (Quote from Frankie) The DigiHogs are in tubes. You must drop them lower and form correct equations in a certain section. Then, press the lever and they will be squeezed if you made a correct equation. It is the most slow-paced game and you can take your time if you like. Again, it is similar to one of the games in Math Blaster.

Eventually, the games get boring for a while, but heck, you don't want your kids playing all day!
Overall, I'd say that JumpStart Study Helpers Math Booster is best for Grades 1-5, but can adjust to higher grades too. I'd reccomend it for ages 6-12. It's like a cross between JumpStart Numbers and a Math Blaster game. There's also a version that comes with this game and JumpStart Study Helpers Spelling Bee. It's called "JumpStart Advanced Study Helpers" and you might want to consider it. Oh, and, check out some of the other JumpStart products! Signed, StoryMaker. "Gotta trust the kid's review!"
