The Outfit for the Xbox 360 is a third person action game. The game is very arcadey and not to be mistaken for a simulation. It takes place in World War II and has you playing as fictional characters fighting against the german nazis. You can pick from three different characters all of which of their strengths and weeknesses. Some characters have long range capabilities (like sniper and rifleman), while other have close combat advantage (like shotgun or flame thrower). It is critical to use the right type of character presented for the threats or obstacles. But even if you make a mistake, you can re-spawn and choose a different character.
Whichever character you pick, you will be accompanied by five AI units that support you, follow you around the battlefield and automatically
attack enemy units. You will enjoy the feeling of having your private
posse, which is also available in multiplayer.
Part of the big hype of the Outfit is something called "destruction on demand" which basically lets you order vehicles, troops, or defensive weaponry by choosing it from simple dial menu within the game. You order something as simple as jeeps, tanks and artillary guns depending on the amount of "FUs" you have. The item you order gets air dropped within a few seconds and is ready to use. Some defensive weapons such as turrets and guns get delivered with AI soldier manning the guns. You can also
order more troops, if some within your posse had died.
You can gain "FU" or field units everytime you capture spawn points, destroy enemies or complete game objectives. The action is fast paced and the strategic element easy to manage. The game concept plays similar to Battlefield 2, in the sense that you have to capture spawn points to progress in the game.
If you get killed during the game you can re-spawn from any spawn point you have under your control. The game features an ingame tutorial and XBOX Live. Adding further value to the game. You can download free maps and other items from Xbox live marketplace. I had a really good time playing this game and I think many will be surprised at how fun it is. The best part is that it can be found for a discount price since it is an older 360 title.
Pros:
-excellent graphics
-excellent animation
-excellent sound effects
-easy controls
-xbox live
-split screen gameplay
-ragdoll physics
-Hijack vehicles or take over defenses
Cons:
-xbox live needs more players
-unbalanced units
-needs map maker or scenario editor
If you liked this game, I also recommend Call of Duty 3 for the 360.
Strategy Third Person Shooter??

That's right, this is a strategic third-person shooter. This game has provided me with amazing split-screen online action. I would HIGHLY recommend this game. The action never stops with 2v2, 3v3 and occasionally, you can find a 4v4.
This game does not allow players to dominate based on controller reflexes, but rather on strategic placement of weapons, troops and vehicles - all of which are drivable. The game looks like a cartoon, which some complain about; I, however, enjoy the graphics on my HD TV.
Anyway, for the price, what do you have to lose?
I Love this Game!

I have to say I am having the most fun I've ever had with this game. It's the cheapest 360 title I own ($17 at Gamestop), but has delivered far more entertainment value than any other. The missions are long and rewarding, you can save anywhere, and when you are killed you "respawn" right back where you were, with all the previous destruction and progress intact. If you've blown away a vehicle or building, it remains gone. I love this feature. No, it's not a strategy game or true to history, but great mindless fun, and should be reviewed with that in mind.
Great Game!!

I love this game. It is a great 3rd person shooter and is tons of fun. There is no free-roam, but that's OK because the missions are long. Each character has his own advantages, and each play differently. The Outfit has many different opportunities on the missions. I would recommend this game, especially for only $30. I would give it a 5 overall if the graphics were a little bit better. There would be definately be room for improvement in the graphics department.
You get to choose out of three characters, each with their own weapons, strengths, and weakneses.
Not bad, but no Call of Duty

I was expecting something like Call of Duty except not in first person shooter mode. I was disapppointed to say rhe least. It is cool because you can take over vehicle and call in vehicles, but the controls are hard to get used to, and it is funt the first twon hours and then it becomes repetitive and lifeless.

I'm just going to give the nuts and bolts here.
The Outfit is not the same type game as the Call of Duty or Medal of Honor games. The Outfit more closely resembles old school shoot-em-up games like: Ikara Warriors, Heavy Barrel, and Mercs (I'm showing my age here). Lots of action, Lots of destruction, Lots of fun, but NOT realistic. The Graphics are amazing on a VGA monitor, the Sound is good, but not great (Repetitive), Vehicle controls are BAD, Animation is smooth and extremely detailed. This game is a great mindless buffet of carnage and mayhem. This game is NOT a historical or realistic take on WW2. If you don't heed this warning, you might be very unhappy with this! I myself enjoy the realistic games, but every once in awhile it is nice to just blow the hell out of things in a cartoonish manner. I feel that this game could have been done just as well on the original xbox. Anyone interested in this game should rent it first before purchasing. This type game is not for everyone, and the more discerning gamers might not be amused by it.

The game is great for teens. There is strategy involved and the game play is simple. I would not recommend this game for adults. The difficulty level is easy, however, the story line I thought was good.
Good But Don't Expect The Best

Despite what the other reviews might suggest to you - this isn't a 3rd person shooter. Much of the frustration that I imagine occurs from people randomly buying this is that they don't get that.
This is a tactical game played from a 3rd person p.o.v.. So it rewards things like setting up appropriate defences, initiative and learning the strengths of the characters (loosely all 3 characters have different attributes and weapons which include things like speed and purchasing objects). Played as a tactical game its lots of fun. You influence the battlefield by what you stratergize (e.g. call in airstrike to destroy that emplacement there, or use the points (their only resource, gained from killing people or getting your arse kicked) to call in a jeep to circle behind? You can influence the battle, but you cannot expect (ala mercenaries) to take an army on by yourself and win.
It is a good game - though not what you immediately expect. The singleplayer is frankly linear and grindable (you never actually die, just constantly respawn). Enjoyable for an hour or two but limited unless you gotta get all the acheivements.
Multiplayer varies completely on your connection and the standard of you and your opponents. good connection = sweet game. oh so sweet, especially with 6 players. Basically each player respawns with 4 soldiers every time they die. you also call down emplacements which are manned by soldiers. These soldiers are independent of you and run their own ai. depending on how you're playing, its possible to have spawned 4 soldiers, plus how ever many guns you've placed in the map, plus any soldiers left alive from your previous death = a lot, possibly over ten. multiply this by 6 and you realise why there's a problem with multiplayer lag and performance.
Smaller 1vs1 or 2vs2 games are more playable and lots of fun - outmanouvering your opponent to strike the death blow is tremendous fun and there are few issues with lag.
One major problem (acknowledged by the developers) is that the vehicles have really poor control. This didn't bother me too much, but it is frustrating. Oh and water kills you. bad bad bad idea.
A SYMPHONY OF DESTRUCTION!

I just rented this game but its outstanding, yes very cartoony, but it has striking features. like the very popular destruction on demand, were you get to order a veriety of weapons and vehicles, like sentury guns, to jeeps, to halftracks, to flame tanks- very cool, to modern tanks and alot more. There are three squad leaders with their own special weapons and ranks. you can form your own group of five, including you- and drive your squad through every terrain imaginable.
graphics are impresive but not as outstanding as the very popular COD2. this game is also not first person mode, which to some might suck. I'm actually thinking about buying this game, but I might buy battlefield 2. There both a equal amout of fun and destruction, in my opinion.
ALSO try battlefield 2, a great first person shooter.
