Different, But Fun

Well, here we are. The first actual Worms game since Worms World Party about three years ago. (No, Worms Blast doesn't count.)
Anybody at all familiar with Worms Armageddon or Worms World Party will be able to instantly pick up and play this. All the usual weapons are back, and a few extras on the side. The assortment of exploding farm animals and old ladies are present, as are shotguns, uzis, firebombs, air strikes, and the old standby, the bazooka.
The same modes of transportation also apply: ninja ropes, jetpacks, teleportation, and parachutes. You can even swig a can of red bull for an extra burst of wormy speed and power.
The main difference here is that since you can move on all sides, the game sacrifices being able to dig with a jackhammer and burrow into tunnels, a nice element from the 2D Worms games.
That aside, though, the graphics are servicable, the sound is for the most part smooth (except for a bug here and there), the music is mild and restrained, the explosions are explosive, and there are tons and tons of different environments.
You can create teams of six worms, both human or computer controlled, and create your own environments and gaming modes, setting all the parameters for weapons availability and land masses.
For the classic Worms fan, there is little not to like here, and for the cheap price it's worth a buy for the addictive gameplay alone.

Much more fun than I expected

I had never played a WORMS game before purchasing WORMS 3D for PS2. I have to say I was impressed by how much fun I had. It took a while to get used to the controls, but the tutorial helped quite a bit. This is a great new game for only $29.99.

You get to go through different environments where your army of worms battles another army of worms utilizing weapons and skillful maneuvering. One of my favorite things about the game is when you fire a weapon, the environment will change due to the incurred damage from your weapons. This makes it more challenging and makes you think before you make a move... especially in multiplayer mode. And yes, you have to share a controller in multiplayer mode... big deal, it doesn't take away from the fact that the game is fun.

The worms are also pretty comical, their accents crack me up.

For less than $30... how can you pass it up? It's well worth the money, much better than paying $50.00 on other games... give it a try, it'll be worth it.

People are probably telling you that this game sucks but it is just because they are morons who can not look at the manual to look at the controls even though they are so freaking easy. The 2d game was fun but this one is way more fun. Yes you do have to pass the controller around but does that really matter because its not like you don't have time to pass it because the computer has to go or well heres a thought PAUSE THE GAME. Its not brain surgery although it may be for some people but it shouldn't be. Anyway this game is awesome.

Who said 2D was better ?

Four years after playing at WORMS 2 for the first time, I could not believe it when I first heard about the 3D version of one of my favorite game. When I opened the box and put it in my PS2 and played, I re-lived the same exciting feelings of fun that had hit me when I discovered the previous version. For somedy who already played, five minutes will be enough to get going, for newcomers, it might be good to do the training missions and play versus yourself a little bit before going to harder missions like 'Challenges' or 'CPUvsHUMAN'. The adaptation to the console is perfect even for the cameras wich you cannot play without and the 3D effect is very good for something so fast paced. Finally, when they right 'There are thousands and thousands of landscapes possible' they really mean it. You can be anuywhere in any kind of field and scenery. Of course, you are always surrounded by water and death by drowning is very frequent. If you never played buy it, if you played prior versions, buy it anyway.

Have Fun

Third dimension doesn't add to this game

I first played Worms on my PC back in 96-97. I played it for hours with my friends. The 2D world was simple and easy to understand. The third dimension just added a lot of ambiguity to the game play. It's near impossible to use the wind to your advantage in 3D and the camera angles make aiming for opponents you cannot see very hard. Some people may enjoy this game, but I don't think anyone who loved the original 2D version will like this at all.

Hilarious

I have played the PC version, and loved the concept of worms waging warfare--what a hoot. My husband and I love, love Worms 3D for playstation 2. We battle each other for hours. It contains some silly, tongue-in-cheek humor, and plenty of opportunities for crazy cartoon violence. You can personalize teams, complete with a wide array of dialect to choose from. Some silly weapon choices include the Old Lady, Mad Cow and the always-destructive HOLy Hand Grenade. I don't quite understand why people say it is hard to play--we found it easy. Takes a little practice, maybe? Great game. I wish there were more like it.

2D is better then 3D in this game

These clowns made this game so that it only functions with ONE CONTROLLER! Even if you're playing multiplayer with four people, you have to pass the controller around. I called the company and asked if a controller splitter will work--it won't. They get very snotty and insist that "that's the way it was designed." Save your $30 for a better game.

This game is kickass. Much better than the earlier worms cause its 3D! Awsome weapons, would be better if there was blood, but still an awsome game.
