Okay great game but...

I must say this game is great but I have a question. Why in the training mode they show how to perform the moves of a character like they are using a joystick, but you cant use the R3 AND L3 buttons in actual arcade or any battle? In the arcade or quest mode the R3 and L3 are totally useless, I understand that its really only three button to perform a combo but trying to perform a combo using the directional pad its really annoying in my opinion.Thats the only problem I have with Virtua Fighter 4 Evolutoin.

Great Game, AWESOME Multiplayer

Every effect is brilliant, every hit is lightning fast and realistic, and all the physics are strong. If you like button mashing, this game is not for you, but if you're a dedicated fight sim gamer, this is a must for your library. If you're getting this game, make sure you get the "Evolution" version. It has the two estra characters that make the game.

Great Fighting Game

This game is probably the best fighting game for the old systems (xbox and ps2). It's easily accessible to the beginner, but has so much depth that you can play it for months and still learn new things. Virtua-Fighter 5 will probably take it's place as best fighting game when it comes out on the xbox 360 (the ps3 version is not-so-good), but until then this game reigns supreme in my mind.

Five, if you like one on one combat

In all fairness, that last review is an exact, word for word copy from the one on Gamespot.com. On the other hand, it is an accurate description of the game. If you are adept at fighting games in general and pick up quickly on the myriad combos and special moves, this one allows for pretty in-depth strategy. If, like me, you are basically atrocious at this type of game, it teaches you virtually everything you'd ever want to know to become a decent player. It contains a huge training portion that will force you to perform hundreds upon hundreds of dodges, throws, counterattacks, etc. so that you aren't embarrassed when challenged to a brawl by someone half your age.

Generation defining "game"

If you want THE fighting game, you've come to the right place. Sega-AM2's Virtua Fighter series has always been one to disgust the masher, but reward the dedicated strategist. Deep is an understatement. Counters, reversals, sabutai's, inashi's, throw escapes, ect., this game has a lot going on. Due to this nature, it can scare people off, but you don't have to be THAT good to have tons of fun with this game. I know I'm not, but to me this is the best fighting game ever, and the best game on the PS2. Period.

Graphics-Not awesome, but better rounded than in the original VF4. Jaggies are reduced, though not entirely gone (big deal). 9/10
Sound-Sound effects are solid, background music is better (I find Lei-Fei's stage kind of catchy myself). 9/10
Gameplay- To much to describe besides it being the best. Quest mode is awesome too. 10/10
Presentation-Great in that all characters have drastically different fighting styles, timing, and are all real martial art styles (from relatively mainstream to obsure). 10/10

Overall- 10/10
At $20 this is a no brainer. Search for professional reviews (IGN, Gamespot) if you need more convincing!

Not much new, but very fun...

I can beat almost any of my friends in ALL of the V. Fighter games. Anyways, the two new fighters, Ghu or Gho...whatever(he uses Judo) and Brad(uses an altered form of American Kickboxing) are really good, and the scars and silver earring on Gho...or ghu...make him look even tougher. My advice; If you want a good fighting game, and you can't decide between the newest Mortal Kombat game, V. Fighter 4, or V. Fighter 4 E. Get V. F. 4 Evolution. I say this because the M. Kombat games are cheesy and V fighter is just an un-altered version of VF4Evolution.

Virtua Fighter INDEED!!!

Lets get the dont likes out of the way. The New Announcer for the K.O and Excellent are not as impactful as its predessessor.
However everything else has got me by the short and curlys.
The Training Sessions feels like I am "grasshopper" as the user friendly instructions let you know what mistakes you are making that result in the constant ass wooping you may receive. Navigation seems a whole lot easier this time around and the selections and things to learn seem endless. My faith in Fighting games has been restored thanks to the folks at SEGA. The edit and shopping mall is an excellent touch and the "advise" lets you know exactly where your weaknesses are in the Stats.
The Quest mode has blown my mind...just go train first , its endless fun ,excitement disappointement , frustration and ultimately when you have kicked and posed your way through them all (Lei Fei) You reign supreme champion.
All that is needed is some cool movie endings when you win these tournaments.

an awesome fighting game!!!!

Well, its as the title says. VF4 EVO. IF you already have VF4(as I do) there is hardly any differance. They added a quest and 2 charaters. So, if you don't already have VF4, this is a good buy for you. Its not realy worth the extra $20, if you already have VF4.
