18 Wheeler = A great game to play

18 Wheeler is a very fun game. It puts you in the mine as a real pro driver. You get to drive all over states. But the only problem with this game its too short. You'll get to earned money. You can get caught up with storms, crash into other trucks and cars. Most of all I think they made this game so that people will have a wonderful time. Play it with 2 players and really have a time with your life. Well enjoy your trip to Cally in a Cadillac.

I love trucks so I thought it was a great game, but I was pretty dissapointed when I beat the game in less than an hour for the first time. I have played the game through many times, but now I'm sick of it. NOW! dont make the same mistake I made, I looked at the game on the internet and the graphics were outstanding, or so I thought, in fact I bought my dreamcast for this game, right when it came out. Rent the game for a couple of nights and I can asure you you'll have mastered this game and be very sick of it in a couple nights. I spent [$$$] on this game and its not worth it, but don't get me wrong this game is still very fun, maybe only at first

Good fun, for about half an hour anyway...

18 Wheeler was a good game in the arcade, and now you don't have to blow a dollar a pop to play it. The Dreamcast version is everything the arcade version is, crisp clean graphics, smooth controls, and great gameplay make this one of the last good Dreamcast games, think of it as Crazy Taxi with a big truck. Only problem is, and its a major problem at that, is this game is real short, and there are no extras, something Sega should have incorporated for their home conversion. Other than that, this is a good DC pickup.

Rental at best

This is exactly like the arcade version, but short is not the word for it. I beat it in one weekend and finished all the side games. NOTHING TO BUY FOR THIS AMOUNT.

One of the best games ever played!!!!!!

Fun to play..however, only 1 hidden character was found and only 4 routes. Beating the Rival does not seem to get you anything. So what I get a new muffler or new engine they do not do anything that I can see..However, the horn was cool. Very detailed graphics and different trailers made the game fun. Running over other vehicles, exploding vehicles and dodging a tornado are just a few of the things you will encounter. Sounds and graphics are execellent. A fun game to play.

A fun game to play. Excellent graphics and sounds. Love running over other vehicles. Only oncs are as follows...needs more routes, only has 4. Need more hidden characters, only 1. Also, beating the rival does not seem to get you anything. Sure you get a new horn, muffler and engine...but they do not seem to help in the game. Even with these drawbacks the game is fun to play.

Who would have thought that the idea of a Big Rig making it to a a video game platform would have ever occurred? 18 Wheeler : American Pro Trucker is a fun and genuine classic that the Dreamcast should be proud of in it's last days of life. The controls are great, the graphics spell-binding, and the sound of those big rigs movin' at well-over-the-limit speeds...quite frankly is beyond me. However, if you were to get into the fun of things, you may find the Dreamcast applying adhesive bandages all around its wounded parts. Indeed, 18 Wheeler is a fun classic in its own, but with limited mobility of levels and length (yeah, you'll find this one complete in 2 to 4.5 hours,) the boys that made this one realize that their time and effort was somewhat waisted. A rental at best... -dreamcast kid...

Too Short

The game is way too short, I beat it in an hour. There are only four levels, and after you are used to them they can be beaten in minutes. The parking portion of the game is better than the arcade portion. I haven't played the multiplayer part yet, but dont buy the game because it is too short, worth renting though.

Save your money for the arcade

Kudos to Sega for another off-beat title. Who could have thought that one could make an entertaining game out of truck driving? Make no mistake - this is a fun game. Points are also awarded for smooth, if not benchmark, animation and intuitive controls.

But shame goes to Sega for doing so little in porting the title over to a home console. With any arcade-to-console port, extras must be added or the gameplay must be modified to create replay value. Otherwise, there would be no excuse to buy the console version rather than spend the equivalent in quarters at the local arcade. Sadly, the core of the game, "arcade mode", is ported over with no change. And unlike the popular "Crazy Taxi", "18 Wheeler" does not go on and on if you are good enough. Instead, you go through a few stages and once you complete those stages ... nothing. Most people will learn to complete these stages inside of three hours. Sure, there is a "parking" challenge that is analagous to the mini-games in "Crazy Taxi", but again, once you finish them ... nothing.

Save your money and head down to your local arcade with some friends. For the equivalent number of quarters, the humorously large cabinet, life-sized trucker steering wheel, big bench seat, and loud horn will be more fun than you can ever have with this title at home.
